With all the technology available today and with being the so called premier company in the hobby why does PSA still have some of the cheapest slabs. CGC, HGA, and TAG for example have much better quality and appearance slabs yet are way smaller in size. No excuse. Another example of PSA just carrying about the bottom line not their customers.
Well they just came out and said their slabs got a big upgrade and people are saying they look the same in hand 😂
nfts > physical.
Plus they upcharge for insurance purposes supposedly. So why is this not part of the insurance claims?
It’s funny to go back and read the thread Nat started on Blowout pre-acquisition and hear his gripes with up charges. This feels like the same thing. Now his/their response is deal with it which is what he hated prior.
Yeah that was always a good one haha
The crack on the base Donruss Bryce Young slab probably increases the value 😂😂😂
got a PSA sub back a couple weeks ago and 25% of my slabs seemed to have this...
congrats . PSA 5
i purposely didn’t purchase slabs on eBay that had those exact lines, i don’t sell, but if I did, I’d be really upset
Hopefully they Wii warranty all of them with quick turnaround times. Lol
It should be a priority for them
excellent quality control. A flow line, LOL.
I purchased a high $$$ Gehrig from Memory lane a couple months ago and when I picked it up, they offered to put it in a new holder. It was just put in a new holder for the auction but they said "PSA had a bad batch". It looked like they overheated the baggie and there was 10 stress cracks on the back that occurred after the auction pics were taken, i guess?. It looks better upon reholder and no cracks but they can do better. Still has a baggie.
That’s annoying. It’s something that needs to be taken more seriously. People pay a lot of money and they can’t he having defects in their slabs
Why would you buy anything in a baggie? Such an ugly presentation.
Horrible corrupt, inconsistent, tone-deaf, overpriced, criminal company who cares nothing about the customer.... they are all about the money, and continue to accept submissions from known card doctors. Do not support criminal companies with ugly slabs. Your cards deserve better!
PSA grades 90% or more of the cards. Why should they care? They'll just keep buying up all the competition till there's literally no other option.
I just got a sub back. 9 out 10 had the "non-crack." Trying to get them not to slab the 45 cards I currently have with them.
Just got my first ever graded cards back from PSA this week, 25 cards. 13 came back gem, but SO many of my cards have these.
Demand a full refund!
Thanks for giving a proverbial flip. Unlike PSA.
I just recieved a 30 card order in which I had a spiderman slab that was cracked / broken during shipping. it chipped off the back of the slab.
Demand a full refund!
TIME FOR A CHANGE. PSA/SGC , Beckett , eBay/Goldin , Fanatics/pwcc ...... What viable choice do we have ? Tag ? Don't trust them.
They are all bad, just need to collect what you like and have fun.
For some reason, this hobby simply attracts the dregs of society who think nothing of screwing you over if a dollar can be made. I too wish there was a viable option who wasn't tone-deaf, corrupt, inconsistent and overpriced.
I’m curious , not sure if it’s a rumor, I heard the average time of employment is a month for a psa worker.
I have heard similar but its hard to prove.
High turnover is not uncommon for entry level positions but who knows.
It’s a premium medical grade crack
i keep saying the grading thing is a scam from top to bottom
A bit of Kurt's Juice will fix those cracks right up!
we need a company that grades the condition of the slabs
Haha don’t give them any ideas
my bad oops
thats why nfts are coming to the forefront
@@hitmanskid-td4pgNFTs are crap. Ppl want to physically hold their cards
We arent faar from that
I have gone through this topic so many times. I guess this is the problem is very simple:
Grading is inconsistent and has zero transparency but the grades determine a card's price.
I mean, I just see PWCC is siding with Sotheby's. Ok assume I am a high roller, the first question I will ask is, why does a PSA 10 Mickey mantle woth so much more than a PSA 9/8/7 and onwards. Ok got the "OFFICIAL" answer, my second question is how accurancy is the grader. I mean unlike many luxurious items, TBH, many sports cards are not really THAT rare in printed runs, having the best grade (And PSA10 does not event mean perfect, it just means the highest grade can be of PSA) leads to a lower pop means something ONLY IF the grading is perfectly accurate. (That' why I agree with people, 1/1, does not need a grade, it only needs an authentic and without altered logo) But as we know it is not the case.
But then, I suppose this very rational voice has not been heard, at least not enough by the new comers. Because the mass, are either educating you the importance of grading to card price because they want you to grade through them or already being a stake holders and refuse the saying the PSA grading is inaccurate. For eg, we 90s collectors know PSA was very easy on grades back in the days but not now. Imagine you got a, it does not exists, but let's say, a 1997 PMG Green Jordan graded 10 back in 1998 and will graded a PSA 5, will you say your PSA 10 is not a PSA 10? The PSA Authentic might already sell for 1 million above. (I doubt we ever have a PSA 10 PMG red or green, so the green PMG is the most iconic 90s parallel, limited to 10 of Jordan and with a PSA 10, is the Holy Grail of 90s card) will you agree to regrade the card or says your card is not worthy for a PSA10?
It is the sad reality about sports cards and one of the reason I "quit" buying cards. Because, assume I see a card I like. It was graded high because it was graded early by PSA, it does not looks like the grade but people will just go for the price and it is like, you got to a restaurant, you order Kobe Lobster and they give you a normal Shrimp and you have no say at all but to pay for the shrimp at the price of lobster.
You summed it up extremely well as always. Many cards (including high end or sought after ones) are not actually that scarce. Especially when you factor in pop sizes of 9s to 10s. Most of the time the difference between the two is whether or not the grader had a good breakfast or not.
I feel, the norms we have like, PSA 10 pop 5 = 5/5, PSA 10 sells 5-10 times PSA9 and so on and so forth really rest upon the premises Grading is accurate.
I just discussed with my brother whom collect watches today. Assume today, we have 2 very rare and unique type of gem stones. First one call it A, we only have 100 piece and each weight 1 carat. Then the second one call it B and we only have 2400 pieces and each also weight 1 carat. (We cannot create more and each piece is 1 carat)
For simplicity on grading we use out of 1 to 10 10 is the best. We have 5 stones from A graded to 8/10. (Highest of A) And we have 5 stones of B graded 10/10. Then the question, assume we have a bunch of gem stones collector, is A graded 8/10 rarer or B graded 10/10 rarer?
Honestly, I think this is a case, we cannot come we have an universal answer. There are many way to look at it. (Again assuming both A and B are very attractive stone for collectors) But in the end, if the grades matter to collector's choice regarding which to go. The first premises is the accurancy and openess of the grading, which, at least for now, I see none from the top brands.
Kinda sad. But I guess most of the people in the hobby are in for making money, and we cannot blame them for doing that.
Are these the new and improved cases that are cracking? PSA is represented and holds value as being the “best” in the hobby. Having cracks in a “premium” graded cards/cases, is not acceptable
I believe so but I could be wrong
SGC to the 🌙 and I know the PSA parent bought them. Let’s hope PSA doesn’t bleed over.
tbf I see all graders as the same. They make mistakes but people are too fanboy with them. Approach them all with the same skepticism and you will be fine.
they got a new supplier. lol
PSA 10 Card But in a PSA 9 Slab Great
I just got back a 30 card order from PSA and most of the slabs had this.
Demand a full refund!
I just received my PSA order today. Some of the cards have these flaws on them!
Contact their support and if they decline your request reference the image I showed
Demand a full refund!!
So they dont have this problem before they change to the new improved slab which is flawed ha
That’s my understanding yes
Whatever they say, believe the opposite!
15-16 of my 18 slabs I just got back yesterday have this nonsense. Another slab damaged. Another PSA 10 with scuffs all across the inner part of the slab or card.
10k subscribers before panini goes out of business ❤
🤞that would be nice haha
PSA just upgraded their slabs is this happening on their new slabs that just came out?
I believe so
I know I'm in the minority, but I just don't get my cards graded anymore. I sell raw. If I'm going to keep it for my PC, I'll get it graded when I'm going to cash in. PSA's customer service is AWFUL and with them owning the world, I don't see the point.
I just send my stuff to CGC, they have the best quality slab and are much cheaper. Their comic book arm is essentially PSA size as well so I doubt they’re going anywhere anytime soon
im souring on the graded thing too. this might be the last straw. but bgs has never done me wrong quality control wise. its just the value with bgs that sucks.
Recently I was looking at a slab and the card slab doest look like others. It looks bigger in the inside, making the card it self look short. Anyone know what's up with that?
They do have tall boy slabs so maybe it’s just one of those
I've had them. PSA has been good with replacement slabs even on cards I buy online.
It definitely sucks but they are at least trying to make it right.
Curious. 100% free of charge or you're still paying for shipping and insurance?
So, they responded, and you didn't like there respond, even though they stated no damage will come to the card. and also, they stated they would further address this issue. I am not a fan of grading cards at all, I believe it just a scam to get more money for a card. did this person follow up or are dislikes for PSA coming to a head.
So because they said tough luck you’re ok with that?
Are these slab errors only on the top or are there errors on the bottoms as well??
Have shown up on bottom too but they’ve fixed it apparently
@@DanTheCardMan2
Appreciate the info.......
I just received a card in the mail today that was PSA graded. It's a standard sized card...but they put it in a holder designed for larger cards like 1955 Bowman for example. Card had moved around inside the holder. Smh.
wow wth, why did they put it in a larger holder?
@@DanTheCardMan2 No clue. A google search shows that another guy with a massive batch he sent in had about 40% of his cards come back the way mine did. I checked ebay and found another one today holdered in the same fashion. Pretty annoying.
Yup had this issue on a sub I got 2 weeks ago. 90% of the sub had them its noticeable and looks bad.
whats a sub? a submarine sandwich?
Based on what I’m reading it seems to be happening a lot more than what people think.
We love BGS long live Beckett and down with PSA.
Down with all grading companies
Ima start my own company lol
Scam artists
They just need to fix it. Don't understand why they are trying to make it out like its ok
@@DanTheCardMan2 I just sent in 8 cards today to get re-slabbed. 20 to get graded for the first time, Then I see this. Just got back 10 slam mags from CGC and 5 of them had the worst plastic discoloration and quality control you could imagine. No care or accountability with these scam artists. Just terrible.
PSA has been very disappointing recently. What is going on
Here is their response: The card is encapsulated in the correct holder. Due to recent company procedures based on the overall size variations in these specific types of cards, we are unable to encase these cards in the standard-sized fitted holder as it would be too tight and damage the card. Additionally, these cards will not fit in our standard holder, they were encased in their current holder and it is normal, and ideal, for there to be a degree of movement." This was a 1961 topps football card in question.
That’s weird. It’s not normal for that set right?
@@DanTheCardMan2 Nope. I have multiple cards from that set that are in the standard holders. The person referenced a "recent procedure" so I wonder if we'll see more of this type of stuff. I think it sucks personally lol.
If you look up that Zay Flowers card shown on PSA’s site or use QR code, there’s no crack or anything, so how did it happen? Hanky Panky??? lol
sometimes you can't see it directly. scans won't pick it up. gotta angle it. i'm looking at stack of 26 that have them. worthless. worth less.
@@noelmonte4985 Sorry to hear that. I was thinking that the problem may have happened after they took the slab pics and during shipping or later? Like maybe the plastic didn't do well bouncing around a delivery truck, a change in temperature/ humidity, or altitude on a plane for air deliveries, etc. Since PSA claims 3 years of testing, they obviously didn't test every scenario?
Probably just the angle of how it was scanned
So I noticed it is not on any of the thick cards I graded. It's a regular size card issue.
Funny, you say you want to uplift the hobby but your video history says otherwise. Good points here but the good outweighs the bad in the hobby. I guess you find what you look for.
People come to me for this kind of information. I highlight scams to bring to peoples attentions. If that's bad then I can't help you mate. Someone needs to talk about it and it happens a lot more than you think.
@@DanTheCardMan2 oh I realize it happens a lot but so does good things 100x more. If that’s your m.o. and only focus on the negative that’s cool but it’s not uplifting the hobby. It gets you views.
@@mikebodner7956and 99% of channels and businesses cover that aspect on a daily basis. You also don’t need someone to tell you the hobby is good. It’s clear as day why we all have fun collecting cards
They slab literally MILLIONS of cards… it’s not as if it’s some mom n pop thing… the amount that have this issue is really almost non-existent.
I have always liked your stuff, I like that you cover issues - however I do really hope you don’t go down the card radio road, where every single video they make is just negative/complaining. I honestly can’t even listen to them anymore, talking about wanting to fight people and just trashing everyone, the nothing but negativity is really a drag.
Please don’t go down that route. ❤
People are commenting that over 80% of their subs contain this issue. It’s a lot more pervasive than what you think.
youre nutz-OP
That it exists AT ALL is sad.
@@DanTheCardMan2 ok. Fair enough. I can’t say because I honestly don’t grade much and I use SGC. I’ve just never had an issue.
Maybe they’re making too many slabs and cutting corners lately. Anything done up till 2015 ish I never saw issues so maybe it’s a new thing
