The best part of Certus imo is that his ability moves enemies back, which can be used to manipulate their positions to your advantage. Almost no one has a similar ability. I’ve used this feature for things like pushing a guy into a clump to get hit by an AOE, or to clear space so an ally can use their stronger ranged attack instead of being forced to use a crappy melee. The ability also allows Certus to do damage in melee, since it does the Heavy Round damage type even in melee.
The crazy thing is, he fucking sucks immediately and even new players instinctively know this. A sniper that shows up after the battle is over? Who the fuck needs that?
With movement of 2, Certus may as well have MK Gravis armour. Make his passive so that any ally including himself within 2 hexes that is attacked, buffs Certus damage output by xxx with his next attack. Let's turn Certus into the monster that we deserve.
I use Certus on my main team and he's at Gold 1. Ever since Sarquael came out I've refused to upgrade him past iron 1 out of spite. There's no reason for him to get outclassed in literally every category, please fix it Snowprint :')
IMO an easy buff for would be simply give him camouflage. This would make him pretty resistant to any multi hit range attacks, and give him a niche as a constantly resilient sniper. Alternatively, lean into his Phobos armor and give him 4 range, would give him a large threat range, but remained limited by his more mediocre damage.
give him moment 3. give him Camouflage trait, change his active to Direct dmg instead of Heavy dmg if not moved. or even ad a Nu trait if character not moved is allowed to mow 1 tile (hit and run)
You convinced, me I am of to reset my Ragnar so I can build up my Certus as my new centerpiece of my all situation defensive team! Thanks TPF & I will get my guild to follow my lead!
i like that kind of deep dive analysis where you compare him to units with similar roles, i really do hope designers would watch it to learn what is wrong with this char and how to improve it... giving him 3 movement is a minimum, but some buff to stat and skills would be good too. yours sincerely, G2 35/35 certus owner. #prayforcertus

I used to use him alot and I think his range makes up for his lack of movement. Have him at silver 1, don't think I'll upgrade him further and I'm using him less now after hearing alot of smack about him. He can be still be useful in salvage run but I'm thinking his squishiness is becoming a problem.
Galatian is a Big Target that will synergize with Certus passive and you could use his active to push melee enemies away, forcing them to re-engage Galatians overwatch?
Thanks, Fred. Did you look at Heavy Weapons team build at all for Certus? I did some idle theorycrafting about pairing him with Thaddeus and the new DA terminator but never really fleshed it out.
I looked at how he synergises with Thaddeus and the rest to pump his offensive capabilities, but the tank route was more fun and "viable" in general usefulness imo. Going for damage on Certus means that you're playing catch-up with Sarquael most of the time, everything that you do to Certus in order to buff his damage, Sarquael will get the same treatment but better. : ( #prayforcertus
I was thinking about pairing him with Thaddeus, Aethana and Azrael, but don't know who else can be in the team as the fifth slot 🤔 maybe a tank or a healer. I don't know, I'm still working on it.
Lets keep #PrayingForCertus! Maybe the Emperor will listen!
Great video, as always! 🎉

Excellent video. Way too much investment to make him work right now. Thanks! 🍻
My Certus is sitting at silver 3. Helped me get through Elite campaign. Pulled Calandis and never looked back.
I mean why not lets buff obsolete characters more variety is not a bad thing.

I got him to silver 2 when Tacticus launched and I still regret it
It's worth doing just so he doesn't die while you're clearing indomitus elite... That's about it

Got my Certus at Diamond 3. I don't care if he sucks, I'll stick with my Boy no matter what!
Making him having 3 movement would be a good start I think.

Certus' active does have niche use in conquest TA
Yeah, those who hope in a tall grass map XD
All i know is I had to go straight to 33 mortis round when i could.

When it comes to the other starting heroes they’re all real good…Certus is trash.
Even if they just buffed his movement that would be HUGE.
