Balaclava is a small town in Northern St Elizabeth parish, Jamaica. It used to be an important town in the north of the parish.
Balaclava has a lively, outdoor Market. The St Luke Anglican Church, where many victims of the infamous Kendall Train Crash (1957) are buried, is a historical treasure and museum.
Nearby the village of Marlborough Hill offers great scenic walks and tranquility. The Armstrong bar provides relaxation, local entertainment and great conversation with everyday Jamaicans. The town was established around the plantations of the Arscott & Sherman families in the late 18th century. Graves of these families can be found in the cemetery of St.Luke's Anglican church. One of the plantation style houses still remains, and commands sweeping views of the Appleton Estate (Rum)sugar cane fields, as well as the foothills of the Cockpit Country. The nearby districts are Russell Hill, Wallingford and Oxford.

Thanks fire I use to live in kensham coming from balaclava in st Elizabeth you drive through this district of kensham to reach st Paul's in Manchester I know every inch of that road I lived there many years I left for Kingston at age 16 .I enjoyed the journey but the road is something else it's like the bush is forming a canopy over the road .gone are the days when public works use to give out work to Bush road and banking and clean culverts .anyway as much as I observe now it's like is few people live there now .is only 2 cars I see pass you throughout the whole journey .st Paul's look mash down .that's same church and all age school I use to go to .big up teachers Williamson .Mrs Atkinson. Miss Judith medley .Vincent Taylor. And to those whose names I forget I say thank you all

I was born in Mayfield went to St. Paul Basic School back in the days. That nice beautiful house to the road is my late friend Mr. Laylor his house looking good. Buiding up Jamaica and not enjoying Jamaica.
