I actually learned in my public speaking class in college that making an enemy out of a person or group can actually be an effective speaking tactic. The idea is to create an "us or them" mentality within the audience. Supposedly defining a "them" group builds comradery with the people in the "us" group. However I have never seen someone fail so spectacularly at this technique, and literally in the dumbest and most offensive way possible. The only funny thing about this guy is how bad he is.
When I was in middle school my english teacher had us do impromptu public speaking on random topics to try to help us get more comfortable with it for the future. This guy broke the most obvious, common-sense rule of comedy: your audience is supposed to leave feeling happy and in a good mood. Even when a comedian engages in banter with the audience, it's done in a jovial way with a twinkle in their eye. He clearly said its open mic
It's taken me a few attempts to get through this video because the second hand embarrassment is that intense.
This isn't a routine, this guy spent years speaking and thinking like this prior to this moment, making these jokes legitimately believing he was funny because people who felt sorry for him chuckled in pity and he still somehow recieved dopamine
Yea. Agree 100%. This is some highlevel "with the Bros" word vomit after some beers that formed over years.
You’re so right
I don’t even think it’s a pity thing. Like there are some “jokes” which are funny to you and your friends but are hardly worth basing stand up material around. Like there’s a difference between being funny to your friends and stand up funny😂

I believe there are mainly two types of people in this world and you can easily tell them apart and those are people who have gotten their shit rocked and people who haven’t. I guarantee you if that guy knew what it was like to get his ass knocked out he wouldn’t be up there talking all that nonsense lol. He acts all tough and like he’d fight you at any moment but I guarantee you he would have to try not to cry after one good sucker punch and pull the whole “cmon man we don’t gotta do this..” and try and back outta the fight.

@@SabbathPriest33 Well tbf, most of those guys (or people in general) tend to hide those negative sides of themselves at the start of the relationship, and the other party may not notice until they initiate a more serious relationship and/or they start getting to know more about that person.
Even at 13 years old and completely off the top of my head with about 10 seconds to prepare I managed to make my class laugh even though I was a bit awkward and quiet during school while this grown man couldnt help but yell at the entire crowd lol, what a moron.
I would imagine it would be more effective in larger crowds, no?
@@jacobr2022 it works in any audience where you can get people to identify with the "us" group, but yeah it would help if the "us" is group much larger than the "them" group
the best way to do it would be against annoying, intrusive or aggressive hecklers that are speaking total bullshit. if it's just random audience members, that's just not fun and people will think the person doing it is a massive dick.
Where this guy went wrong with that strategy was that he forgot that the "them" isn't supposed to be the audience
This guy broke the most obvious, common-sense rule of comedy: your audience is supposed to leave feeling happy and in a good mood. Even when a comedian engages in banter with the audience, it's done in a jovial way with a twinkle in their eye.
Just search for a Frankie Boyle audience roast on RUclips to see how it should be done. He can say some offensive things, but you can detect that schoolboy mischievousness which means you don't feel attacked.
This guy just comes across as an angry, bitter incel.

You can swear and make it fit, it won't work if you do it just to check a box. It only really fits if it's for emphasis/ effect on how something made you/a person feel.
