My bunny was rescued from a horrible place, I adopted him on the first of April, and I named him "April". He became a free roam bunny since day nine of being with me, we bonded so deeply and the joy he brings me is humongous, all because of your channel, thank you so much for everything Lorel.
They are such smart animals! I love to watch mine figure things out. It's like watching a human baby learning...you can see their thinking - if that makes sense.

Same happened here. Seeing them get the toys was what broke me.... They're lucky people like you live nearby. Lennon too. I might get a rabbit and when I first started looking into getting a rabbit I was going to get a small cage for it to live in until I came across your channel and now I know that if I end up getting a rabbit that it is not going to live in a small cage thank you for informing people about rabbits god bless

Thank you for making this video it brought me to tears. As someone who used to work in the veterinary industry for over 10 years this unfortunately is a part of the job. Just like with puppies and kittens, most people are about the baby animal craze which is why adult rabbits can stay in shelters a long time. All my pets are rescued and I just adopted a 3 year old Holland Lop a few weeks ago. He was so scared when I met him, he didn’t want much to do with me, yet he stole my heart. He is slowly coming out of his shell at his own pace and it’s so rewarding to see he is displaying a lot of happy bun behavior. If you give them a chance, and patience because they come with a past. Rescues will love you forever in their own way and a lot of them will form a strong bond with you because I believe they know you saved them. Thanks again for sharing this video and message. 😊

EARLYYYY Lennon the bunny I love you sooooo much back in July I was moving and was in an apartment with my parents and your free roam video popped up, ever since then I was researching from you, binkybunny, 101rabbits, house rabbit society, and so many other sources. You started my journey to the bunny world and I am so thankful for that because now I have an amazing bun named dahlia. My rabbit rescue is called rabbitEARS and they give great info and I go over there to give some toys and volunteer to help thank you for your videos. Btw tell Lennon she is looking adorable as always.
Hi Lorelei, unrelated to this video, but in an older one I remember you saying that "rabbits really don't do well outdoors" - wondering if your stance on this has changed? Both of my buns are fully free roamed in our intensively escape proofed garden. We give them piles of dirt to burrow in, they graze, zoom around, and binky to their hearts content. They still have a big shared litterbox, good quality hay, get pellets, veggies, herbs from the garden etc. They get vet checks regularly. They just prefer living out - they were both started indoors and were free roamed, but when I let my first have some time out in the garden she never wanted to come back in and started waiting at the back door to be let out. We're in the UK, so no racoons. The single cat who lives in our vicinity is terrified of them, and the one time he ever managed to get in (no longer possible) my girl chased him off. She also enjoys chasing birds, go figure. In the winter they have a fully insulated and rugged shed with a heat lamp, occasionally if it snows my boy will come in, but always heads back out for the night. In the summer I often catch them sleeping under bushes, or in their burrow. The house is always open to them and they do come in, but only for attention if we aren't out with them. In most situations I'd agree that the best thing for a bun is to live indoors, and of course keeping them outside in hutches is cruelty, but "don't do well outdoors" just isn't true in the right circumstances with the right precautions. Great video with a beautiful cause by the way, both of my munchkins are rescues :)
what about foxes, as a outdoor rabbit owner I have been troubled by those beasts multiple times so in the night they must visit, is there a hutch or do they come inside? For their sake I sincerely hope so as one of my bunnies was murdered by one
I think buns are similar to cats in that they can thrive indoor or out but buns are prey animals and even crows will target them and is it true that the uk dosent have racoons…..? what about coyotes? I live in vancouver british columbia and we have tons of raccoons & coyotes! Your outdoor set up sounds sweet but pretty rare and i think most people that get buns are lil girls and so i think they automatically just assume indoor cage, i know i did and I'm in my 40s and rescued mine a few months ago and she came with a cage but within a couple weeks i had my friend build me a huge outdoor run/cage and its bottomless so she can dig or eat grass. I have to do some more research tho bcuz i thought i read somewhere that there bodies don't regulate properly thats why u shouldn't bath them cuz the wet hair takes to long to warm…….im not %100 sure. I would love to know some tips you mite know that i maybe won't see online?
@@wabbit4936 We have high fences and most of the garden is covered with aviary netting, smaller birds can get through it but no crows and certainly no foxes, they are in the area but have never gotten through. As for a hutch, if they are ever spooked by a noise or otherwise they tend to run for their burrow over anything I've built for them! But they do have their shed and plenty of other hiding spots. Sorry to hear about your rabbit, foxes are crafty things - do you use a run/hutch?
@@krissy8045 You're right, I do think they can thrive indoors and I'd never say anything to the contrary, but seeing the change in mine once they were out, I do believe for them it's just a better more natural way of life! And I can definitely check my privilege with being able to keep them the way I do - most people as you say go straight for a cage (or hopefully indoor free roam as Lorelei advocates for) but no, no racoons or coyotes either here! The 'they can't regulate temperature' thing is something I get a lot, and you're right about the reason behind not bathing them - when they get wet their fur loses its insulation and they can chill, which can be fatal, but for keeping them outdoors that just translates to giving them plenty of options for shelter! They have better instincts than we give them credit for, and there's a lot of misinformation around - in her video about the differences between wild and domestic rabbits Lorelei says domestic buns are incapable of digging complex burrows like wild rabbits do, but over the years my doe has dug, filled in and re-dug some complicated tunnel systems, and she's a havana mix like Lennon! It's great to hear you've given yours a run :) I would say if you're letting her dig, constantly keep an eye on that. Even with other precautions I still have to monitor my girls burrows, make sure they aren't too near the fences so she never has a chance of digging clean out. I give piles of dirt above ground which makes things easier. As for coyotes etc, maybe lay mesh or concrete under the boundary as you would to fox proof a chicken coop?
krissy just watch this channel lol, you shouldnt bathe the rabbits as “they clean/groom themselves like cats” but you do/ should brush their fur (i saw that she recommended this one brush in another video I can’t rember) to avoid them having hairballs that can’t be spit out like cats ( i read). And like they said^^ the rabbit could go into shock being in water, unless they are very dirty (if you try and care very well they shouldn’t) you can fill up water to an inch and try to gently clean with a rag.
@@sophiesreborns2739 Lennon should still get a Partner. Rabbits protect their territory especially females. So it's normal. But they're also highly social animals so there is a rabbit fitting to Lennon for sure. She just has to try. If Lennon is aggressive a not dominant Male might be right. Rabbits aren't happy if they're alone too long
@@yukimikoto1808 rats, like rabbits often need a buddy otherwise they're sad. I had a rat and her buddy sadly died early in life and it made her bond closely to me and I just dedicated more time to her than before. She had a happy life. If Lorelei can give Lennon enough attention and bonding time it'll fill the void another bunny companion could've filled. At least that's been my experience. We also had a bunny that liked our cats and would give them little nose kisses. So it doesn't have to be exclusively their own kind.
@@koffeekueein4476 I hear that often, but it's not true. You can't be the only "partner" for your rabbit. They have their own language, their own needs. You wouldn't be happy if you just had a dog or cat your whole life right? The same goes for rabbits. I had all constellations for a group now 1,2 and 3 rabbits at the same time. One rabbit isnt happy and a group is often the best. Even if you're 24/7 with your rabbit you can't cuddle with them like another rabbit, you cant kiss them like other rabbits, you wont wash your rabbit like other rabbits would do. It's just not the same. In loreleis recent videos is often shown that Lennon isnt aggressive towards other rabbits too and she also has enough space for 2 rabbits. So why dont buy a partner? A short fight between them so they have a boss and then a long happy life really is worth it.

it's understandable.they probably hid in the back and "loafed up" for the most time with strangers constantly coming in. my bunnies will lay flat on their side when I sit at my pc but when my mom or uncle comes in they won't do that until they left because they don't know them well.
I'm not going to lie...This made me teary. I cry every time I visit a shelter. It breaks my heart to see so many animals without fur-ever homes. I want to take them all home. Every dog, cat, small animal. I couldn't work at a shelter. I would get too attached too easy....& cry at home every night.

yup mine too, she's happiest chewing toilet paper rolls and i just started stuffing them with hay bcuz she's spoiled and not eating enough hay and i saw online cardboard egg cartons they like, i really like the brown paper bag filled with hay and a lil rose hips and u just cut lil holes so the hay sticks out all over the bag. My bunny does the same thing as lenny, every time i give her a toy she takes it and turns her head and tosses them, its funny tho. What kinda bunny do you have?? My girl is a holland lop, i named her 'honey bunny' cuz she's white with honey coloured markings, i was gonna name her 'heffy' after Hugh Hefner but it was to boyish of a name lol

That's totally normal. Mine are free-roam and they never touch toys so I stopped buying them. One of my bunns loves to tear apart cardboard boxes, though, and the other just likes to hang with the humans.

Yeah i agree it’s easy for rabbits to get sore hocks if they walk on hard flooring all the time I mean it’s different from rabbit to rabbit
If you look carefully they do have little plastic mats on the floors of the cages

Thank you for making this video it brought me to tears. As someone who used to work in the veterinary industry for over 10 years this unfortunately is a part of the job. Just like with puppies and kittens, most people are about the baby animal craze which is why adult rabbits can stay in shelters a long time.
All my pets are rescued and I just adopted a 3 year old Holland Lop a few weeks ago. He was so scared when I met him, he didn’t want much to do with me, yet he stole my heart. He is slowly coming out of his shell at his own pace and it’s so rewarding to see he is displaying a lot of happy bun behavior. If you give them a chance, and patience because they come with a past. Rescues will love you forever in their own way and a lot of them will form a strong bond with you because I believe they know you saved them. Thanks again for sharing this video and message. 😊

EARLYYYY Lennon the bunny I love you sooooo much back in July I was moving and was in an apartment with my parents and your free roam video popped up, ever since then I was researching from you, binkybunny, 101rabbits, house rabbit society, and so many other sources. You started my journey to the bunny world and I am so thankful for that because now I have an amazing bun named dahlia. My rabbit rescue is called rabbitEARS and they give great info and I go over there to give some toys and volunteer to help thank you for your videos. Btw tell Lennon she is looking adorable as always.
Hi Lorelei, unrelated to this video, but in an older one I remember you saying that "rabbits really don't do well outdoors" - wondering if your stance on this has changed?
Both of my buns are fully free roamed in our intensively escape proofed garden. We give them piles of dirt to burrow in, they graze, zoom around, and binky to their hearts content. They still have a big shared litterbox, good quality hay, get pellets, veggies, herbs from the garden etc. They get vet checks regularly. They just prefer living out - they were both started indoors and were free roamed, but when I let my first have some time out in the garden she never wanted to come back in and started waiting at the back door to be let out.
We're in the UK, so no racoons. The single cat who lives in our vicinity is terrified of them, and the one time he ever managed to get in (no longer possible) my girl chased him off. She also enjoys chasing birds, go figure. In the winter they have a fully insulated and rugged shed with a heat lamp, occasionally if it snows my boy will come in, but always heads back out for the night. In the summer I often catch them sleeping under bushes, or in their burrow. The house is always open to them and they do come in, but only for attention if we aren't out with them.
In most situations I'd agree that the best thing for a bun is to live indoors, and of course keeping them outside in hutches is cruelty, but "don't do well outdoors" just isn't true in the right circumstances with the right precautions. Great video with a beautiful cause by the way, both of my munchkins are rescues :)
what about foxes, as a outdoor rabbit owner I have been troubled by those beasts multiple times so in the night they must visit, is there a hutch or do they come inside? For their sake I sincerely hope so as one of my bunnies was murdered by one
I think buns are similar to cats in that they can thrive indoor or out but buns are prey animals and even crows will target them and is it true that the uk dosent have racoons…..? what about coyotes? I live in vancouver british columbia and we have tons of raccoons & coyotes!
Your outdoor set up sounds sweet but pretty rare and i think most people that get buns are lil girls and so i think they automatically just assume indoor cage, i know i did and I'm in my 40s and rescued mine a few months ago and she came with a cage but within a couple weeks i had my friend build me a huge outdoor run/cage and its bottomless so she can dig or eat grass. I have to do some more research tho bcuz i thought i read somewhere that there bodies don't regulate properly thats why u shouldn't bath them cuz the wet hair takes to long to warm…….im not %100 sure. I would love to know some tips you mite know that i maybe won't see online?
@@wabbit4936 We have high fences and most of the garden is covered with aviary netting, smaller birds can get through it but no crows and certainly no foxes, they are in the area but have never gotten through. As for a hutch, if they are ever spooked by a noise or otherwise they tend to run for their burrow over anything I've built for them! But they do have their shed and plenty of other hiding spots. Sorry to hear about your rabbit, foxes are crafty things - do you use a run/hutch?
@@krissy8045 You're right, I do think they can thrive indoors and I'd never say anything to the contrary, but seeing the change in mine once they were out, I do believe for them it's just a better more natural way of life! And I can definitely check my privilege with being able to keep them the way I do - most people as you say go straight for a cage (or hopefully indoor free roam as Lorelei advocates for) but no, no racoons or coyotes either here! The 'they can't regulate temperature' thing is something I get a lot, and you're right about the reason behind not bathing them - when they get wet their fur loses its insulation and they can chill, which can be fatal, but for keeping them outdoors that just translates to giving them plenty of options for shelter! They have better instincts than we give them credit for, and there's a lot of misinformation around - in her video about the differences between wild and domestic rabbits Lorelei says domestic buns are incapable of digging complex burrows like wild rabbits do, but over the years my doe has dug, filled in and re-dug some complicated tunnel systems, and she's a havana mix like Lennon! It's great to hear you've given yours a run :) I would say if you're letting her dig, constantly keep an eye on that. Even with other precautions I still have to monitor my girls burrows, make sure they aren't too near the fences so she never has a chance of digging clean out. I give piles of dirt above ground which makes things easier. As for coyotes etc, maybe lay mesh or concrete under the boundary as you would to fox proof a chicken coop?
krissy just watch this channel lol, you shouldnt bathe the rabbits as “they clean/groom themselves like cats” but you do/ should brush their fur (i saw that she recommended this one brush in another video I can’t rember) to avoid them having hairballs that can’t be spit out like cats ( i read). And like they said^^ the rabbit could go into shock being in water, unless they are very dirty (if you try and care very well they shouldn’t) you can fill up water to an inch and try to gently clean with a rag.
All these ears in the shelter break my heart. It is so sad, that there are so many bunnys without a nice home. Good work Lorelei! :(

As she has said in past video Lennon is aggressive towards other rabbits so it is not safe for her to do so
@@sophiesreborns2739 Lennon should still get a Partner. Rabbits protect their territory especially females. So it's normal. But they're also highly social animals so there is a rabbit fitting to Lennon for sure. She just has to try. If Lennon is aggressive a not dominant Male might be right. Rabbits aren't happy if they're alone too long
@@yukimikoto1808 rats, like rabbits often need a buddy otherwise they're sad. I had a rat and her buddy sadly died early in life and it made her bond closely to me and I just dedicated more time to her than before. She had a happy life. If Lorelei can give Lennon enough attention and bonding time it'll fill the void another bunny companion could've filled. At least that's been my experience. We also had a bunny that liked our cats and would give them little nose kisses. So it doesn't have to be exclusively their own kind.
@@koffeekueein4476 I hear that often, but it's not true. You can't be the only "partner" for your rabbit. They have their own language, their own needs. You wouldn't be happy if you just had a dog or cat your whole life right? The same goes for rabbits. I had all constellations for a group now 1,2 and 3 rabbits at the same time. One rabbit isnt happy and a group is often the best. Even if you're 24/7 with your rabbit you can't cuddle with them like another rabbit, you cant kiss them like other rabbits, you wont wash your rabbit like other rabbits would do. It's just not the same.
In loreleis recent videos is often shown that Lennon isnt aggressive towards other rabbits too and she also has enough space for 2 rabbits. So why dont buy a partner? A short fight between them so they have a boss and then a long happy life really is worth it.
Seeing all these sweethearts makes me just want to give them all a home even though I know I can't 😂. I hope they all find loving homes.

I'm not going to lie...This made me teary. I cry every time I visit a shelter. It breaks my heart to see so many animals without fur-ever homes. I want to take them all home. Every dog, cat, small animal. I couldn't work at a shelter. I would get too attached too easy....& cry at home every night.

yup mine too, she's happiest chewing toilet paper rolls and i just started stuffing them with hay bcuz she's spoiled and not eating enough hay and i saw online cardboard egg cartons they like, i really like the brown paper bag filled with hay and a lil rose hips and u just cut lil holes so the hay sticks out all over the bag.
My bunny does the same thing as lenny, every time i give her a toy she takes it and turns her head and tosses them, its funny tho.

That's totally normal. Mine are free-roam and they never touch toys so I stopped buying them. One of my bunns loves to tear apart cardboard boxes, though, and the other just likes to hang with the humans.

I practically broke down into tears when I saw all those sweet, gently rabbits in the shelter.. They dont deserve that. They deserve a nice, caring home..... Sadly there are NO shelters near me... But I really hope they go to a great home.
