In my home country, someone covered this song and turned it into a farewell/apology letter. The lyrics I remember were: Waking up and breaking up have never been easy (which makes the ending line sadder: "Whoa-ooh-oh, I think you should go.")
Elastica were huge in my opinion ,you look at the views they get and it,s sad they seem forgotten .They played so many big gigs seen., and seemingly adored by those in the crowds yet forgotten like so many other brilliant bands of the time .I suppose it was just our generation were all mums and dads now and with most they became serious adults ..not me i done the parent bit but rocked right through it and still will forever and the best thing they are grown ups now so all my time is my own .I never forgot my music and my genre is vast .And i hate seeing great music fade away .Elastica were and still are the bollocks ,,,except car song thats shit .
+billyblooboy It IS weird. Their first (brilliant) album was the fastest selling UK debut album ever at the time. I thought the second was nearly as good too and then nothing. I'm sure they'll be 'rediscovered' at some point. Well overdue.
blackmore4 I believe the singer had problems with drugs which is a real shame but very common .But they did rock and most of the songs were nice and short too.
+billyblooboy +blackmore4 It wasn't so much the drugs or anything. They were caught ripping off sounds/songs off bands from years past (Connection was blatantly ripped off from a chart topping hit in England in the 70s). They didn't pay any royalties or get permission, so they got torn apart by lawsuits (like Vanilla Ice). The guitarist left. I saw a YT video where Justine had moved to Colorado and gotten an art degree.
@@Frank-or2ns That's false. The music publishing company that owned The Stranglers albums sued them, and it was settled out of court. I believe Elastica gave them 30% of the writing credit. The Stranglers themselves couldn't care less, and didn't support the legal action - mainly because they themselves had borrowed sounds from bands they admired, and saw no problem with these homages
Just heard them for the first time on KDHX MO. Really like there intro and beat which carried momentum yet the attitude was interestingly laid back. After watching them open on Davis Letterman 1995 and seeing them here seems they might as well stayed in bed in 2000 for lack of energy or is it genuine enthusiasm.
I was at this Glastonbury it was fucking insane, I think 100.000 people jumped the fence. I'm sure I wasn't the only person tripping and in a K Hole for four days!!..
what's a fit bird? it must be hilarious, i am already laughing.... i love this band but u gotta admitt they broke new grounds in the catagory of cute guitar girls with heroin style.... very very sexy, if u ask me
I'm a metal-head at heart, but Elastica's debut album is one of my favorites from the 90's. All killer, no filler, on that one.
So awesome. I was so in love with her. LOL. But damn, they killed it everytime. One of the great underrated bands!
Same when I was 15 :D , so cool.
1:51 Make a cup of tea, put your knickers on !! Classic, you just gotta love Justine.
I honestly thought this lyric was "Make a cup of tea, but a record on," and honestly, they both really work.
Oooh to be young again. Great times, great band
....not a single phone in sight....just people enjoying the music....how I miss those times.....
Killer bass tone.
Much like The Stranglers.
Straight Rip off 'No More Heroes'

I saw Elastica at the '96 Big Day Out, Melbourne Australia. They were great. One of the best!!
I like the 2nd lineup as the 1st. Seeing Mew Rock on in every way make the gig more joyful :)
great song, reminds me of the Stranglers, but her voice is pretty unique
The Stranglers sued them and won.
Didnt know that . Thanks . Changed my opinion .@@Frank-or2ns

@@chrisjames6327 Indeed. Also it generated renewed interest in the Stranglers themselves.

I so miss this band
Elastica is the coolest, Justine is amazing.
I really miss her voice...
かっこよすぎ!
Why would they waste half the song cutting to that fool backstage
Yeah, that was annoying! Why??
Fun times mate ! : ) : )
band is great! crowd is great!
REEEEALLY want them to go on tour.
That crazy blonde person hopping about by the organ is Dave Bush
Oh dude the TV dude dancing is hurtin me. Iim gonna go out on a limb and bet the house that he hasn’t heard this song before.
The Stranglers No more heroes guitar riff, i believe she was a fan of the band so great she doffed her cap to them in that song.
The Stranglers sued and got royalties from the track
Pretty sure that’s a Stranglers intro
Banger! in 2019 even though she is older than me
Great.
Bomb! 😁

poor damon
what happened to these guys? awesome!
Where is the fit bird who plays guitar with the short orange hair???
Donna left in early summer of 1998
+Elastica Ok thanks. I remember seeing them at Glastonbury in 1995. They were really good.

@Leonidis78 No she didn't, that was Louise Wener.
Is Mew their Bez equivalent..?
The 90s were over but no-one bothered to tell Elastica that.
90’s > 00’s anyway 👍
I love this song! Just added it to my Shellshocked Radio Recommendation List: ruclips.net/video/-Bw9i4un7nM/видео.html
All private shcool educated. That's the way the UK works.
ah , 2000,,,i remember it well..,, britpop died and everything turned to "merde"...or "shite" if your from the north.
I felt Britpop die as soon as I realised Be Here Now was disapointing.
Where's Donna? Don't work without her.
LTF6161 -- she's there
She isn't.....
only a glimpse of her at 1:35. She's there.
That's Annie at 1:35.
Donna left in 1998. She did write some songs for 'The Menace', but I don't think she stuck around for live shows.
Where's Damon Albarn?
Why the keyboard player did not play the actual keyboard parts in this song?😂😂😂
Eso no importa Óscar, relájate un poco 🥶
@@SlowDIIV mis cuatro emoticonos de risa demuestran una tensión alarmante, sí....
Seem to have replaced Donna with Cristian mills, and also randomly singing is a young mani lookalike
Did have some resemblence of Mani.
There was plenty of mediocre new bands in the 00’s, bit not many good new ones
Damon is best part of this video
Damon isn’t in this
Where????
You're thinking of that TOTP Performance back in 95.
Elastica had one gd track.. and it was a blatent ripp off
X
Great song but this tempo is too quick
The last gasp of. Record industry promoting random mediocre band who don't even have original songs thank God that's dead
