@prateek raj you're right it's the better achievement but that 04/05 Chelsea team raised the standard of Premier League football. Just like City's raised the standard in today's game. Until Chelsea came along teams could win the league with 80-85 points. After that everyone had to up their game and teams usually needed at least 85 points to win the league. United themselves had to raise their own standards to compete with the bar set by that Chelsea team. That's why I believe the 07/08 United team is even better than the 98/99 United team. The 3 best for me are 07/08 United, 04/05 Chelsea and 18/19 City (when I say those teams I'm talking about the eras so including 06/07+08/09 United, 05/06 Chelsea and 17/18 City).
This Liverpool agenda stinks. The amount of disrespect that 2018-2020 Liverpool side gets is mental.
Went to a CL final then won the CL the following season, got 97 points in the league and only lost 1 game all season. Then got 99 points the next season and broke tons of records in Prem history and would've easily been centurions had it not been for Covid completely knocking down their momentum.

it's not a completely Liverpool agenda unfortunately, it's looking at Utd through rose coloured glasses. I was so invested in that 07/08 season as an Arsenal fan, I can remember all the games pretty much. That United was is 2nd best behind Chelsea in my opinion but I can see the argument
People forget just how good becks was because he transcended football and became a brand and because of dating posh spice, but make no mistake he ran his socks off on the field. He scored great free kicks, a brilliant half way line goal against Wimbledon, and many more. Also one of the few English players to leave england and play well in different leagues.
I know everyone hates Liverpool but they really did deserve so much more. Unreal team between 2018-2022. Not even to mention how much they spent compared with everyone else, jurgen klopp what a man.

- best start to a season EVER recorded in the top 5 European leagues
- won the league with the most games to spare
- won the league by 18 points
- had more points before covid stopped the season (82pts in 29 games) than 2nd placed City finished with (81 pts in 38 games)
- (over 2 seasons) got 110 pts from a 38 game period (36 wins 2 draws, 2.89 pts per game)
There was a point where they were 26 wins 1 draw but apparently aren't top 8 of all time? lol.
They're great but you can't take an arbitrary point mid season and say they got x amount of points over the next 38 league games. There's loads of arguments for that Liverpool team but that's not a good one imo.

Chelsea’s 95 points is more impressive than the centurions because that Chelsea team had an average bench. Just go look back you’ll see they only dropped points when big ucl games came up like Barca or Bayern or a must needed win in the group stage. Jose benched key player for these games and dropped points easily, something the centurions didn’t struggle with because they had a world class bench. Had Jose had a good bench, we’re honestly talking 100-105 points in that season

I also believe Chelsea would've won the ucl had they not literally been robbed, not even ifs or buts, the Liverpool goal shouldn't have counted end off. And had they not been robbed then I see them as the best team in prem history. However they didn't win the ucl so they're second to untied 99 and maybe city 2023 if they win the ucl

My ranking of the seven teams (not including this man city team as it depends on the trophies they go on to win):
1st - Manchester United 98-99. Won *the* treble, the teams they had to beat to win the FA Cup and Champions League were ridiculously strong. A very underrated starting XI and their backup players were also very good. They should’ve done better in the premier league (only 79 points, Leicester 15-16 got more wins and points) and the league cup (reached the quarter-finals) but for me overall the best team.
2nd - Manchester City 18-19. Won the domestic treble and had a very dominant season. Only lost six games all season (less than 10% of their games). However they bottled their champions league quarter-final - one goal ahead on aggregate at the 60th minute of the second leg and they were at home.
3rd - Manchester United 07-08. Won the European double and had for me the best attacking trio the PL’s ever seen. Probably Manchester United’s strongest ever starting XI. But they lost in the sixth round (last 8) of the FA Cup against Portsmouth - they should’ve won *the* treble.
4th - Chelsea 04-05. Broke both the record for premier league points tally (95) and the dominance of Arsenal and Manchester United. Had a lot of good players and leaders, won the league cup and reached the semi-finals of the champions league. However they should have done better in the FA Cup (lost in the fifth round (last 16)).
5th - Liverpool 19-20. The most dominant start to a premier league season by any team and won the super cup and club world cup too. 70 points at the end of January is insane. However they should’ve made the semi-finals of at least one other tournament, if not won it.
6th - Arsenal 03-04. An invincible league season is a special accomplishment, no other premier league team has done it and is likely to do it for a while at least. Thierry Henry also probably should’ve won the ballon d’or that season. However both the invincibles team and accomplishment is overrated and they should’ve won another trophy that season.
7th - Leicester 15-16. Statistically, probably accomplished the hardest thing any of these teams did. They adapted to their league position very well in the second half of the league, keeping more clean sheets and grafting out the results which got them over the finish line. However they did poorly in the domestic cups and also had overall probably had the weakest starting XI of these teams (although it’s very underrated).
Man U 07/08 should be 2nd and Man City 18/19 should be 3rd since winning the premier league and champions league is harder than winning the premier league and carabao cup and fa cup

Additionally manchester city 18-19 are the only team to win the domestic treble. 2 and potentially 3 (depending on current man city) PL teams will win PL + CL

The fact they said this years City team is better than the 2019 Liverpool team is because they won the league when arsenal were so far ahead for so long is laughable for so many reasons
Firstly city won the league because arsenal bottled it.
Secondly by their logic Liverpool had won the league by January which is far more impressive then city winning because arsenal dropped loads of points.

I always said from 2017 till february when Sane scored that goal, Liverpool was WAY better than us, we could not compete with them even the 100 points meant nothing for me because we could not beat Liverpool (the 5-0 with Mane's early red card do not count). You won the league in December becausee City had so many injuries and we had no defenders fit. That's the reason.. it's like me saying VVD's injury did not contribute to city wiining the league by February in 20/21, disingeneous.
This year Pep decided to experiment a lot to find the perfect balance, from end of october till march, it was just training for us, once we found it, it was over. The same happened in 20/21, if Pep does not fuck it against Chelsea, it's a treble that year too and we were better defensively. This years' city has no flaw and once we win the UCL, we will be rememebed as one of the greatest team ever.

As much as injuries effected yer season we didn’t win because ye had players injured we won because we won 18 games then drew one and then went on to win 18 again so you cant say injuries are the reason we won. We won because we deserved to do to say otherwise is disingenuous
