      Stay away from ramp jobs for sure!!! They usually take advantage of pilots by extending the time you "pay your dues" on the ramp.

    I'll be landing this year in Canada as a PR to convert my license and start my job search. I like how positive you are regarding aviation in Canada, and your videos have been very helpful. You're very right about avcanada forum. Although I did learn a lot there regarding the local aviation sector, most posts are very pessimistic regarding the field.

    Hi Capitan, I was wondering if you know how the post graduation process in Canada is for international students. I can see that most pilot jobs require a Citizenship / permanent residency. I know that you can apply for a work permit after getting you CPL but is this enough to get an entry level pilot job? Thanks a lot, your videos are very inspiring!

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  3 месяца назад +1

      I’m not very well versed on work permits, and whether a company needs to sponsor the work permit. Regardless, as long as you have the legal right to work in Canada, then yes you can get hired for a pilot job.

    Good evening, Yaro,
    Thank you so much for your fabulous and informative videos. Is being a commercial pilot a stable career? I don't care about being a pilot of a HUGE aircraft. I want to see landscapes that others aren't allowed to see with their own eyes.
    I have been accepted into a college aviation program here in Ontario. However, I'm still indecisive as I don't want to be drowning in debt for the next 10 to 15 years after graduation. Should I follow my dream career path? I will truly appreciate any advice you are willing to give me.

      Aviation is a volatile career unfortunately. We are the first to be laid off, and the last to get back to work. However we are in a massive pilot shortage right now, and I recently published an updated pilot pay video. Getting to 1500hrs is still hard, but afterwards the pay increases significantly, and if you are young, don’t hold yourself back from reaching the airlines

    Hi yaro! Hope you're doing amazing.
    Is it true that the costs of living in Canada have gone up to the point that flight instructors can't make a living out of it? And if they can, which province would be most suitable to do such thing. Thanks, love your videos 👍❤️

      Yes it’s true that cost of living has gone up, but so have the salaries. Did you see my latest pilot pay video? The cheapest provinces are the prairies: alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba (but also the coldest lol).

      Correct, income will fluctuate on weather and how many students you have. It can be a good part time income tho, as long as you can be flexible and accommodating the days your students can train.

    Hello, Pilot Yaro. Is it possible to find a job after completing the single-engine CPL in Canada? Is it achievable? I'm thinking of starting my journey as a pilot. What worries me the most is the lack of job opportunities for recently graduated pilots with less than 300 hours of experience.

  • @CompleteWalkaround

    Hello! A question for you. For building time to get the first job. Which would you say is better to focus energy (money) on?
    1. Instructing
    2. Flying your own airplane (single engine) Single Pilot, PIC, IFR, Cross Country, International (USA/Caribbean), Night, etc..
    Thanks as always for sharing your experience.

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  3 месяца назад +2

      Great questions. The answer is simple, would you rather make money or spend money 😅.
      Instructing you will earn an income while perfecting your own skills and knowledge base. Owning your own aircraft is a black hole for money, and burning holes in the sky on long cross countries isn’t very valuable. Plus to get your own aircraft certified for IFR to legally log the hours is also very expensive. But night PIC is needed to get the hours for your ATPL, so if you instruct but don’t get any night rating students, you might end up renting a little bit anyway.
      Hope that helps!

    • @CompleteWalkaround
      @CompleteWalkaround 3 месяца назад +1

      @@AviatorInspirations That's very good advice. I appreciate the quick response also.
      If I could be a little specific to my own situation for a moment. I'm working on career 2.0 now. I already own an IFR aircraft and do NOT have an instructor rating. I can churn out IFR PIC hours very quickly without quitting my current career. Getting an instructor rating would take time and money obviously and then I would get a few hours here and there flying evenings and weekends. Or quit my current job to instruct full time. Ideally would like to keep my current job as long as possible.
      I guess part 2 of my question is, Do you think the time I log flying my own plane like I described before be useful toward getting hired eventually? Or are employers more interested in 'working hours' even if they're instructing day/vfr/local primarily?
      Thanks again

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  3 месяца назад +1

      My first answer was more generic yes, but in your situation, IF you already have the aircraft, then I would phrase my response this way. Do whatever you can to get the hours you need to get your first flying job asap. Companies don’t differentiate between “working” hours or not, hours are hours in the aviation world, and as soon as you meet those hours for the job you are applying for, they will then hire you based on your interview. Aviation is linear, you need the hours to get the interview, and you need to pass the interview to get the job.
      Also if you do fly actual IFR, those hours are more favorably looked upon since you will be much more proficient in it than someone who’s just flight instructed VFR.

    I hope this message finds you well. Upon reviewing a job posting on this website related to new pilot positions in Canada, I noted a restriction regarding foreign pilot visas or sponsorships. Specifically, the posting mentioned, "No Foreign Pilot Visas or Sponsorships." I am an Indian citizen currently residing in Canada with an open work permit and possess a valid commercial pilot license. I completed my CPL in Canada while I was on a student visa. Could you kindly provide clarification on whether this restriction applies to individuals in my situation? In other words, does it preclude non-Canadian permanent residents or citizens, such as myself, from working for smaller airline to build a good number of hours? I appreciate your time and assistance in this matter. 😊

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  2 месяца назад +1

      If you have a Canadian work visa that restriction shouldn’t apply to you. Foreign visas mean the company will sponsor your visa to work for them, and smaller companies don’t want to do that. Just be clear on your resume that you have an open work visa and “have the legal right to work in Canada”. Companies might still try and discriminate against hiring non-residents, but legally you can get the job. So apply for all the entry jobs and hopefully you get something 🤞🏻

    Hello Captain Yaro 🫡
    I have picked a flight school in Newfoundland to start my training.
    Some pilots advised me not to do it there since the weather is bad and it will impact my training, others said that the experience of conquering my landings in that environment will not get it anywhere in Canada thanks to the cross winds. Now I'm confused what do u think captain should I go there or not?
    Thanks ❤

    • @AviatorInspirations
      @AviatorInspirations  2 месяца назад +2

      Honestly it doesn’t matter. Train where you can, as it’s the schools responsibility to get you through the training, despite the weather. If there are delays, that’s not in your control. Is this an integrated program?
