He is truly an inspiration
He never let his deafness get in the way of his hearing
Oh what a noble composer he is,someone still full of shit after taking a laxative.
Ahh yes, the story behind "Clowns Farting In The Basement".
That should be Samuragoch's autobiography title.
That should be a police headlines
God I miss those shitlords
Now the Zaibatsu is the zombie in the basement 😔
It's the ambience you hear inside one of those tiny clown cars after the whole 12 man squad just ate chipotle.
This is like a weirder version of when Bender became a disabled musician after his can opener accident.
the episode that starred Beck
Where it's at!
_I got a washboard stomach and a microphone!_
Great episode
WASHBOARD PLAYERS ROCK!
"Throw your hands in the air" rhymes with "just don't care..."
The fact that they ended up dragging a little girl who just wanted to play her damn violin into it.
I'm glad she and Niigaki got to perform that song written for her together, at least. Surprisingly happy ending for everyone overall.
Yeah.
Poor Okubo.
I feel bad for her
@@Calvin_Coolage Lmao what are you talking about? She was horribly shameful, acted just like the adults she was supposedly "sick of"
Niigaki didn't do a goddamn thing for her, he wasn't the one who encouraged her. She blatantly betrayed a man who tried to help her realize her dream because he wasn't "deaf enough" by society's standards
She should never forget how awful that was
@@Bocchi-the-Rock_ she was a disabled child who was lied to. she thought he was a successful disabled musician and wanted to be just like him but he was a fraud. he only wrote half of the music he claimed, plagarism was discovered, and he lied about the extent of his hearing loss. it isnt about him not being "deaf enough". it is about the lies.
@@theseokchanist bitch he wrote over 90%, that girl was (understand ably tho) being a drama queen
If the trumpet salad wasn't his own work than how did he explain what type of sound he wanted to the other guy?
"This is a basement scene from a horror game. So naturally the atmosphere must be accompanied by the sound of the adults from a Charlie Brown cartoon having an orgy."
😂
Funnily enough if I recall that honestly the song is mostly just in the wrong sound font, so if there were different midi instruments used it actually sounds... I dunno if I'd say good, but certainly less... basement theme... than it ended up being
@@ReneeGalena I remember looking into the converted MIDI data at one point, I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be an ambient-ish track: dark droning strings or synth, with drums or a harp maybe for the 'melody' to make it ominous/mysterious. I'm actually surprised a 'restoration' of it isn't something that many people have attempted... either it's not worth it or enough people just shrug and assume that's just how it's supposed to be, I guess? lol
@@mairujyat talking about Resident Evil DC- Basement Music Fix/Rehash by Agent-RedJackal presumably?
@@ReneeGalena Wasn't thinking about that one specifically, but I probably heard it while I was poking at the OST a few years ago. There's a long held low note in the track that lasts much longer than the horn sample itself, and the notes from the horns make me think they're meant for some 'ambient mysterious harp' feel.
In general though the Basement theme and the rest of the OST have a lot of room for restoration/'fixing', considering the whole thing is pretty rough. There are a lot of games with great soundtracks on PS1, N64, GBA, and plenty of really not-so-great ones (cough cough Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance...), but it can very much come down to coordination between sound designer and composer, or the competency of the latter in fixing up their samples to play nice within the system.
In this case? I think any sound designer was left out of the loop, so a lot of instrument samples don't seem optimised to work well with the music - meanwhile most of the compositions sound like they were done in a DAW like Voyetra or Cubase by someone who probably only used the software for sheet music notation, not MIDI automation and etc. The result is a lack of more refined dynamics/automation on most instruments throughout the RE1 Director's Cut OST. Basically instead of using volume fades, pitch-bend, vibrato and stuff to enhance the sampled instruments, a lot of the OST is very blunt, like they left nearly every note on the absolute default setting. A misclick on top of that could easily lead to a song getting pushed out with the wrong sample banks selected, and with minimal communication? Almost no chance it'd have been noticed.
Short version: issues with the composer and his 'assistant' aside, it feels like a fiasco happened - something between "I've never done digital-only music before" and "I don't need to talk to a sound designer."
I remember playing the Dualshock version, getting to the save room expecting to hear "Safe Haven"... Aaaand that's when I realized the soundtrack was completely butchered.
Some songs on the original are definitely better, but the DualShock version's OST isn't _butchered_ - just this song in particular is especially awful.
that would have killed me safe haven is my fav song
I remember getting this exact version and was too scared to even open the plastic wrapping!! The fear was real mang
The Dual Shock save room theme is actually good. Maybe not better than Safe Haven but still
@@captaincobana4144 It's good in its own right, but it doesn't match the atmosphere of the game like the original does.
Niigaki actually became a minor celebrity after the admission. He could be seen on a lot of variety shows, quiz shows (Japanese quiz shows do not feature normies, just celebrities), and general talk shows just him being him. So, whatever deception Samuragochi had perpetrated, it did raise Niigaki's profile significantly and nobody in Japan had given him any guff for being part of a musical scam. source: i watched a lot of japanese tv around this time because i live here
Man I’m tripping balls. I found out about this story like a day ago and I thought “oh wow Whang should do a video on this” but then I searched and saw he ALREADY did one 5 years ago so I felt stupid and here we are today with a redo of it

Why did you feel stupid? It’s not that deep…
@@MsTinkerbelle87 yet here u are, making it deep

If anything, this is an example of the sad reality that talent is often glossed over and underexposed without a powerful "story" behind it. I doubt this guy would have gotten 10% of the exposure he did had he not been "deaf".
He faked deafness but composed the basement theme, didn't need to go that hard to fake the deafness with that shit
The synth brass instrument is what makes it sound so bad. I heard the same notes played with different instrumentation, and it's rather eerie and foreboding.
😂😅😂😅😅😂
To be fair, Wesker went from shady double crosser *to* mischievous kitty cat
Hands down one of the best comments ive read
im dying
yo im still dying, im crying too. great comment dude
Still not over this masterpiece
Was that before he became Lance Riddick cosplaying as a Blade? 😆
Being in a weird situation where my low vision allows me to register to blind foundation, yet I can see well enough to function day to day, with the sight I have. I can sorta get why he may have started claiming to be profoundly deaf, rather than just having measure of hearing loss.
As a lot non-disabled people have a pretty strict, and essentialist view of disability. Like you are either completely deaf or blind or permanently require a wheelchair etc. Or you're not disabled at all, and are essentially lying. Or are you're just too lazy to fix yourself. Like the number of times I get the very unhelpful suggestions about eating carrots, praying to Jesus or getting new glasses. When I know I've had major eye surgery, been to a number of my countries top specialists. And the end result is I can see slightly clearer blurs out of the corner of the most degraded of my eyes.
This is indeed very true. It's honestly kind of tragic. You can find plenty of people that are like that in this very comment section.
Yeah, I thought the whole tone of this video was a little off because of that. The guy still had significant hearing loss so to claim he was faking being deaf is a bit much.
Although, It is worth noting that of all the disabled communities the deaf community is kind of absurd. They will attack other deaf people and claim they're not deaf since they got implants. They're straight up brutal about it too and they're not just saying that those people are no longer legally disabled. (which is accurate in the US if their implant can restore hearing well enough for it to no longer impact daily life. However, from what I've read most implants don't work that well)
I hate when people give generic suggestions that will "cure" you of your disability. Had one person suggest I need yoga to fix a spine issue that is caused by the vertebra being damaged. They claimed I needed to be more flexible and that surgery isn't needed. Last I checked you want your bones to be solid and not squishy lol
@@zebraloverbridget I actually compared notes with a deaf mate of mine about that. As he can with hearing aids, to an extent hear. As most blind people I know are pretty chill about their stuff. I guess it comes down to the fact that we don't have to learn an entire non-verbal language to fit in. It's mostly just in jokes at sighted people's expense. Like learning that the main function of the white cane is to wack arseholes in the legs that won't get out of your way.
Yeah, ive seen people trying to expose blind people bc they can "see". Legally blind doesnt mean completely blind, some people have some remaining vision but it's so shitty they cant do much with it and glasses wont help, hence the blind label. One described it as being able to tell there was a bright light somewhere, but not knowing how it reflects on objects or being able to make out anything other than the light. Same with deaf people, most have some residual hearing
I feel like it’s similar to depression. Until I was diagnosed with it, I always thought depression was “can’t get out of bed and being sad 24/7” instead of something that you just kinda live with that spikes and declines
I just gotta say, the visual descriptions of the shitty tracks is PERFECT. I literally can PERFECTLY picture that shit to each of those songs. Especially the elephant one. Though "mischievous kitty cat" is the most accurate of em all.
Since when did being deaf mean you can't read music either? You don't need ears to realize that just throwing notes all over the staff isn't going to sound good to anyone.
Agreed, I imagine an actual deaf composer would work really hard to figure out how the notes best complement each other (or learn to compensate if they learned before losing their hearing) and become really good at it. The samples in the video sound more like someone trying too hard to convince people he's deaf.
Your name LOL
@@BrandonVout beethoven???!!!
@@BrandonVout there’s this thing called audiation, experienced musicians can get very good at it, it just means that you are able to imagine sounds in your head (pitch, scales, chords, rhythm, etc.) If you can project sound in your head and match it with notes on paper, you don’t need to hear anything.
@@kittavares4334 dont you need to not be deaf initially to develop that though? id assume playing music and hearing the resulting tones plays a major part in developing a skill like that

An important note: compositionally the Basement Theme actually works. You can find essentially correct versions of the Basement Theme that functions as intended, by changing the kinds of instruments used. Basically this was an accident, one Samuragochi either didn't catch because of his deafness, OR he DID catch it but realized he couldn't talk about it without giving away the con. So it got left alone.
I've heard it too, but it's only slightly better.
This is just false. Flagrantly.
@@EdgieAlias you can look up the few attempts at reinstrumentalizing this piece on RUclips and see for yourself
@@Gelatinocyte2 the instruments don't change the notes' relationship, which is necessarily off key.
@@EdgieAlias but that's the thing: there's nothing fundamentally wrong with the composition. It's literally just bad instrumentation. Also, off key is appropriate in certain context; not everything off key is bad (case in point: most thriller music, and idiot themes).
I think you saying that guy looked like he was from a Yakuza game was the quickest I had ever looked and immediately knew what you meant.
My dude looks like the bad guy on a side story that you eventually convince that he was doing something wrong and he apologizes (after you beat him up).
Getting beat up will definitely make you realize you messed up. At least for smart people it will lol
Probably something dubious involving gravure idols.
Overly specific my guy 😂
Exactly 😂😭
This is so Persona 5 plot.
I remember that time here in Japan. I felt sorry for Takashi Niigaki because he was really used on a lot of variety programs after and was used in a lot of gags/gimmicks. The media just kind of used him for the buzz then dumped him.
Wow, this one was wild. I'm blown away at how small the world is and at the odds: 127 million Japanese people, and yet my wife knows this one guy. I thought she was trolling me at first, lol.
I originally called my wife over to see the "dude from Hiroshima" when that stock footage of the city popped up as we used to live there, but then the moment she saw the picture of Samuragochi, she immediately recognised him.
Turns out that his childhood home is just a few blocks away from where my wife grew up, and my mom-in-law still runs into his dad from time to time when they're all out walking dogs and strolling around and whatnot (small town, everyone knows each other, etc).
If we head back to Hiroshima over the new year, I'm kinda tempted to ask which house and go see. Who knows, perhaps he'll be back to visit his dad for the holidays and I could run into him while dog-walking? Haha
Any luck?
I took ASL in high school and during my interactions most deaf aren’t hereditary they lose it very young getting sick or in accidents never heard of regenerating ear canals. Maybe he’s a vampire?
I have hereditary (congenital) hearing loss and it is actually possible to regain your hearing! My mom was born with severe hearing loss and completely lost the ability to hear when she was pregnant. After her pregnancy she regained her hearing, so instead of being fully deaf she was back to just having severe hearing loss. It's definitely possible
Now I want a full video of Justin just describing what songs sound like, your descriptions were hilarious!
Saaame
I always bring this up as the perfect argument for seppuku.
Sometimes, you just fuck up so badly that it shames your entire bloodline across several generations, and the only way to wash off the dishonor is to just an hero yourself.
I always thought dude got exposed way earlier in his career, so when you kept going and the story kept expanding and his fame kept rising, I was starting to sweat.
I’m a little late watching this, but I’m happy to see some “safe for life” stuff get covered again. I normally like to watch every video of someone content if I like it enough, but it’s been difficult with videos like the Urethral Magnet. I don’t have a peepee, but when I hear stuff like that, my imagination paints unpleasant images. Especially when the thumbnail has a bloody razor blade. Yeah, I’m a softy and genuinely stay away from looking at real life gory content.
So finally seeing a story like this being covered is nice.
With that said, I would LOVE to see you cover the “sex to the beat” story that’s been going around on Reddit! I was rather lucky to see the post first before seeing memes.
You said peepee. I like that.
I always assumed the bad music was just an attempt to disorientate the player and by effect, make all the scares scarier. Obviously, it didn't work, but I always figured that's what they were going for
whisker is found...such a cute song for such an adorable feline villain.
Funny how the funny trumpet song actually sounds good with different midi instruments but the composer switched em up to keep his act going. The song is very well composed in its correct strings and he was aware of that. You can hear the fixed version on RUclips, can't link it because RUclips deletes links.
One thing I'm not completely clear on - who was accused of plagiarism, Samuragochi or Niigaki?
good question. without clarification, i would say niigaki, though these waters certainly are quite muddy
Kinda both i think?
I mean, musicians reference/copy/repeat motifs all the time, on purpose or not. I feel like it would've been Niigaki just using a bit too much of his source material, but the blame is pinned on Samuragochi because he claimed HE wrote it. Niigaki likely hasn't "composed" as long as Samuragochi so I think it was mostly him.
@@Miami_Virtual_Arcade I guess if composers get accused of plagiarism in classical music, than they must be completely ripping someone else off to a shameless degree. Though I have to say as far as music plagiarism controversies go, a fake-deaf composer who wrote some of the worst videogame music of all time, stole from Mahler and took credit for his assistant's works and caused a huge scandal is a lot more interesting than "Was Blurred Lines a rip-off of Marvin Gaye?" Don't ever stop, Japan!
Sorry for the late comment but Samuragochi is the one who plagiarized, he doesnt know how to compose music and faked being deaf. Niigaki composed the music.
Good thing you specify it's the Dual Shock version of Director's Cut. So many people skip the normal Director's Cut because they think it has fart music and missing out on a great version of the game.
RUclips still not going after these scam accounts. Guess they're too busy demonetizing random channels.
Interesting. When I heard he was faking being deaf and had a ghost writer (ghost composer?), I just assumed he was a shrewd business man who had created a false persona to make himself more marketable. I guess reality was a bit more complex than that, huh?
Ever since your first video on the basement song I have been waiting for an expounded version. You are built different
He's truly the ultimate lifeform.
Last time someone said they were built different they got their brains blown out by a cyborg in the middle of a city

I saw a fascinating video where someone took the dualshock basement theme and changed the sound font, it instantly become a great horror song rather than crazed clowns.

a common theory with the "clowns farting" basement song is that it sounds the way it did because they used the wrong soundfont. i've heard people try to remix it using like more ambient tones and you can kinda get what they were going for?

The fact that the Basement Theme ended up being the scapegoat for whatever the f/ck the Black Tiger theme is, is mind-boggling.
Also imo, the Director's Cut album is decent. Half the album is good with elements of creepiness and horror and the other half is straight sh/t. The same can be said about the original album as well. When listening to both albums simultaneously, I was 50/50 w/both.
Yeah, Black Tiger is easily the worst, but it probably escapes attention since you only hear it in the actual game for like eight seconds.
the basement theme was just really where the adults in Charlie Brown lived, they were trying to talk to you
On the subject of of horror game music that sticks with you. I have to say the entire soundtrack to Cry of Fear was the most unforgettable. So beautiful, poignant, and nauseatingly stressful.
So fun fact: this guy might have been the inspiration for Madarame in P5
Have Atlus confirmed it? Would be funny if it was true
I could listen to Whang describe how a song sounds in non-musical terms and in precise metaphors for hours.
I think Samuragochi did go deaf for a bit, but did make most of the songs for the games he worked on.
I think the truth of what happened between him and Niigaki likely falls somewhere in between both of their stories.
Whang laughing at the scent called “sex black” is a big mood
When I'm depressed. I put this depressing song on. And it reminds me that there's always something more depressing than you. Lmfao
You need more of the "Mischievous Kitty Cat" track in your life.
Fun fact: the reason the basement soundtrack sounds the way it does is because the wrong instrument are used on it. If you swap around some instruments (mainly the trumpets for something like a synth or a pad), it sounds way better. There’s a video on RUclips showing this off you can easily find.
5:06 is one of the best descriptions of a song I've ever heard
Yoooo I actually remember this happening it was all over the news!! "Samurogochi" is a rare surname even for Japanese you'd never forget it.
Though I only knew about the plagiarism, never remembered him faking being deaf.
I thought that was a pen name or something. Doesn’t feel like a real Japanese name, kind of breaks some soft rules
@@mousefire777 There are tons of weird surnames in Japan. In this case it's like a combination of two surnames Samura佐村+Kouchi河内=Samuragouchi佐村河内

Because of the confessions of the guy who feign deafness and his ghostwriting collaborator, the album featuring a symphony dedicated to Hiroshima apparent went off shelves and finding someone who had a copy of it is nearly fruitless (or probably a second closer to null).
But the happy ending was that twice I found the ghostwriter himself rehabilitated instead of being shunned (as nearly expected of an outcome from the fallout, with an album featuring one of his new symphonies and another (in more recent times) part of a fusion band performing for the end of year NHK concerts just last year. The band being unique that he may as well be the oldest member of the band in comparison to the other band members who were mostly younger folks. Almost like a multigenerational band in one. As for that guy though who faked everything, hope they don’t entertain him ever again.
that Black Tiger version reminds of one of the tom and jerry episodes where it's all about music instruments and jerry is screwing with tom making him play all sorts of weird sounds.
Same
I just would like to say how much I enjoy your channel. I found your channel last night and watched it for like 6 hours straight. I applaud you for covering topics no one else will talk about. You are a brave man! I look forward to seeing more videos ❤
Thank you for showing that there are good tracks on the DualShock version of the soundtrack. Most people just mock the bad tracks and disregard the whole thing but there are several really good, creepy tracks like Disappearance and Quieto, which is my favorite.
Right now, I’m going on a classic “3AM Retro Horror Game Documentary” binge, what a perfect video to add to my night!
Nice stuff Whang, always happy when you give us more spooky!
How to check if someone is faking being deaf:
Step 1: sneak up behind them.
Step 2: go *BOO!*
If they jumped, they're not deaf.
I prefer the M*A*S*H method...same thing, but with two metal pans.
not really certain deaf people (with the helo of hearing aids) can detect sound around them (but still be unable to tell what those sounds are)
Dont get too close to them though or they could smell you... learned this the hard way
People who are legally deaf sometimes can still hear certain frequencies or loud enough sounds even if they can't, say, detect where a sound is coming from, what the sound is, or ever hear anything like conversations, alarms etc. So no, this is not an effective way to check if someone's deaf.
Also, studies have shown that people who are deaf have better peripheral vision than people who are hearing, plus they're more able to feel vibrations, so they're hard to sneak up on, heh. (When I was little, to get my dad's or grandparents attention across the room, we'd stomp on the floor.)
I was literally thinking the whole time that someone just needs to drive up near them and beep their horn, that always makes me jump hahah
2:36 the Reddit "Cbat" post was a complete troll. That song's come up as a joke in DJ/daneclub circles since it was released, and this was the first time making a joke that included the song went viral.
So the running theory for why the Mansion Basement theme sounds so wonky is that possibly at some point during the MIDI export process for the track, the instrument got changed to default trumpets. ThorHighHeels puts out a better explanation in his video on "bad" video game music, and there's a guy on RUclips that has transposed a MIDI of the track and set it to a different instrument. It's also still possible that multiple instruments were smushed down into one instrument track by accident, but we'll never know.
Such a great story. Truly looney. Im glad ol Boi profesor is now working publicly since he Cleary seems to have something to offer. And even a redemption for our villain is kind of enticing. Thanks for telling their stories
Fun fact: if you change the music instrument in clown music it will turn into a creepy scary music
capcom should upload the clown music again but Change the instrument
Even if he did fake it (partially) and used a ghost writer, I definitely think him trying to redeem himself and make music on his own is the right way to go. Your good name has been utterly destroyed, what are you gonna do to fix it? At the very least, he should be given the chance.
I think everybody talks about the basement song because the original scared people and it really stuck with them. Then imagine them playing the director's cut version, dreading the basement section and then hearing fart trumpets instead.
Honestly, that girl with the prosthetic quitting violin is the saddest part

Speaking about a seagull being beaten to death. On my first day in high school when I got off the bus some fucking asshole in grade 12 beat a seagull to death in front of me with a golf club. He tossed a beer bottle at it (yes, he was drunk at 8am) and hit the bird breaking it wing. Everyone was screaming at him to stop, and he just went in his truck which he drove to school drunk, grabbed a club, and beat it to death. I was like omg I am going to hate high school. That guy got charged with DUI, animal abuse, and a few drug charges.
I only had the Directors Cut greatest hits version when I was growing up, so im actually quite partial to this version of the soundtrack
I think it's under-rated, and it's an internet meme that it's terrible. Outside of the basement theme it's quite competent. In addition to the tracks Whang posted, I like the save theme and Rebecca's theme more than the original tracks.
@@harizotoh7 Black Tiger theme sucks though
I always heard that the songs sounded terrible because the MIDI instruments were mixed up due to a programming error in how the Playstation allocated the instrument tables. But by the time the discs were printed it was too late to correct the error, and the wrong MIDI instruments were played for each song.
I’ve been a huge RE fan since 1996 & I’ve heard this story 100 times, but the second I saw Justin covering it, I had to watch it immediately!
Thank you for highlighting the other songs on that Duelshock track, everyone just does the clowns farting in a basement theme and call it a day, so im glad to hear the others even if they aren't as laughable
Fun fact: Worms odyssey was the first game to use the dual shock rumble feature in a game
Shut up Zack
Wormssss?
2:46 I need a clip of this and the Lighthouse scene. Absolutely gutbusting!
I guess there are worse scenarios than raising from your wheelchair during a livestream and being seen as a fraud.
Jokes aside, I can't believe he faked being deaf for so long yet failed to keep up appearances in interviews.
Lmao the wheel chair guy was innocent tho 😭
The vast majority of deaf people can hear. Whether it's certain frequencies, certain volumes or just a very specific list of noises. They cannot hear to the extent that they can live ordinary lives built for hearing people, but they have some form of hearing.
It's likely he wasn't "faking" at all, he simply failed to understand that the public has a very skewed idea of what disability looks like.
Every disabled person has to be careful not to appear "too abled". Not only because we learn to adapt (for ex. lipreading or realizing what that mumbled garbage coming out of that person's mouth is based on context clues) but also because many disabilities are not a 24/7, 100% thing.
I, for example, can function as an abled person for limited amounts of time. Speaking to me once for a few hours would never allow you to guess that I am completely unable to hold down a job due to my disability.
My ex-husband has a form of epilepsy that is triggered by stress - he can do tons of stuff at his own pace as long as it doesn't trigger a stress response (exertion, emotional distress or extended mental engagement.)
Often, abled people will see us for an hour behaving normally and use that as evidence to remove our entire support system, claiming we are scamming. And then we end up on the street or burdening loved ones, because we are really only independent in extremely limited doses.
A good channel that goes into this kind of stuff is Jessica Kellgren-Fozard's.
That guy was actually partially disabled as in he needed a cane/wheelchair to get around, and he could stand for a short time but when he did it on Livestream people took it out of context.
The streamer in the wheelchair wasn't lying or faking though. The full story came out at some point and there are a couple people who covered it on RUclips
How many time are we gonna teach you this lesson old man
For a moment, when I heard 'Sweet Home' I thought of the Capcom game (and associated movie) and the OST/arranged soundtrack for both... And then I remembered there's since been a show produced with the same name... lol
Finally someone makes a video that is accurate and comprehensive. This story is often retold and is difficult to follow. Basically he should of been open about the extension of his hearing and who was helping with what and shouldn’t of resorted to plagiarism but when you see the full picture you kinda see why. Once I tried telling this story and it wasn’t easy. Great work
I grew up with the dualshock version and the safe room theme always gave me chills in dualshock. The music box is unsettling. The first few tracks you hears are unsettling along with the revisits. The clock ticking in the kitchen is out if place. I think it's the mysterious and chaotic music that goes against traditional Composing methods that made the dualshock version atmospherically terrifying. Bias is talking though lol.
I actually kinda dug the avant garde weirdness of the dual shock version and didn't know until years later it wasnt the original. Also, wasn't it confirmed that he farmed the compositions out to someone else?
You describing music is probably my new favorite thing
Japan has the best gaming related weirdness. This story and Konami's 2010 E3 conference are absolute gold.
Man, this was uploaded just two days before international sign language day.
Whang's descriptions of the tracks from this disasterpiece of a score are spot on. Also, I had completely missed the fact that he was part of EDF: Iron Rain. That's not at all a bad OST, BTW.
If Capcom made a remake of Onimusha without the tank controls, I'd be happy. Just don't make it like another Souls-like.
The Resident Evil Dual Shock soundtrack gives me such nostalgia. I didn't have the game but I used to throw rocks at an old Casio keyboard 🥲
One of my favorite things to do is to look up the resident evil 1 directors cut soundtrack and read the comments. I'm telling you it'll bring you to tears
I'm surprised you didn't explore any theories about why the RE:DCDS tracks turned out the way they did. I remember hearing they were strings that were swapped with horns.
Ah yes, I feel related. Some bangers here and there and lots, lots of really weird sounding tracks with no heads or tails. I'm glad he made it, one way or the other.
I was really happy to see that Takashi Niigaki finally got to release successful music of his own.
Resident evil is my favorite video game franchise and I love seeing my favorite content creators cover topics about it!
"Whisker is found" is what my cat calls it. He's a little bastard, always out chasing tail(because I let him keep his little beans😱)
*Parasite Eve was awesome. I'm glad to hear you bring it up*
"I'm deaf"
"Prove it"
"Understandable have a nice day"
Justin, this video was very good and is a departure from your nostalgia fare. I like this direction and believe you should pursue it.
You want to talk about what sounds like composer whiplash in the Director's Cut? How about a song where it sounds like the composer changes mid-song?
Just go listen to _Tyrant Breaks Loose_ . Listen past 45 seconds and hear the abrupt shift in composition.
