Yup. This was always the UED theme for me. It spoke not of the wild, untamed, and adventurous feel of the ragtag Koprulu peasant militias, but the COMBINED MIGHT OF THE UNITED EARTH DIRECTORATE.

Makes sense on a few levels really, would more make sense that a separate tech tree would be a lot more trouble to implement- and the excuse holds up with the whole thing of logistics, especially with how far out the Koprulu Sector is meant to be from Earth. Especially since the Terrans are using exactly the same techbase, any special equipment the UED brings from Earth isn't going to last long in sustained warfare if they don't have the capacity to replace it.

The original Terran themes got this Wild West frontier vibe, it was about pioneer expeditions going without really much of a plan, exploring, colonizing, each group basically taking whatever they could while alternatively fighting and trading with each other, it was quite chaotic and there was this sense of freedom and adventure, Brood War's theme feel is about conquest, yes, you were still going into the unknown, but not as pioneers to seek a new life in the wilds, but as a true military expedition backed up by a mighty empire, eager for rapacious material conquests and to show its supremacy across the stars.

I always got pumped playing terran listening to this. For the longest time growing up, I thought that DuGalle was Russian (the valkyries too for that matter) and I had imagined the events of Starcraft were set in some alternate timeline where the USSR won the Cold War. It wasn't until much later (like college) that I actually read DuGalle's farewell that he signed off "au revoir" and remembered that the valkyries say "jawol" that I realized the UED is basically just a mish-mash of European ethnicities.
It's a great loss that computer games have become highly commercialized products..Beautiful visions have ended, but I still have hope not only for independent games.
I like to think the distress call got back to the UED, and they're just waiting, observing, and advancing their technology to attack at the perfect time. This time not taking any risks, and planning a loud, big, invasion force. They're out there, just waiting for the race that ultimately caused their downfall to diminish, the Zerg. Holding back with the invasion of Char due to the overwhelming presence of Terran military presence. Holding back with the invasion of Korhal, with the looming presence of the Queen of Blades and her Swarm. And expecting the Protoss to burn the Zerg to the grpund with their full scale invasion of Aiur, but holding back with the Alliance in the Epilogue. With Kerrigan gone, Mengsk dead, and the rising Protoss and Terran forces, they continue to lie in wait for the races to once again, and then swoop in when their enemies were weary of battle, gaining control of the lost sector. Or at least... What they hope to happen. Man, I really want to see the UED again
@RhythmRunneR05 Actually, the series does have a theme, in the music that is played at the Starcraft menu, and it has been remized for SC2 when you're at the menus. One of the best feelings, firing up SC2 for the first time and hearing that nostaligic music remixed in there.
Stukov is still out there, if his "resurrection" is officially canon. Sad he can never go home nor bring back his friends even if they had his human version killed, though his infested version killed what Samir Duran became (which is another convolution in itself).

I swear when the Second Korean War breaks out when we play this song itll be 30 minutes to Pyongyang
Когда понимаешь что таких игр больше не будет😪
@RhythmRunneR05 Actually, the series does have a theme, in the music that is played at the Starcraft menu, and it has been remized for SC2 when you're at the menus. One of the best feelings, firing up SC2 for the first time and hearing that nostaligic music remixed in there.
Honestly, this song is the one I remeber most fondly, mostly because of the N64 port, even as hacked and cut up as it was.
Ah, the unofficial UED Theme. A great piece of music, for a fan favorite and unfortunately defeated and then overlooked human faction.
Stukov is still out there, if his "resurrection" is officially canon. Sad he can never go home nor bring back his friends even if they had his human version killed, though his infested version killed what Samir Duran became (which is another convolution in itself).
BRILLIANT!!!
I think this was final ost while their battle cruisers came up
I love how the phases of the music tend to match the timings of PvP meta.
“Serve the Directorate! Serve humanity! All other priorities are secondary to victory!”
Everytime I hear this song start I always here korean commentators introducing the terran player and his unlucky opponent. Such a good song.
"Attention unknown Terran forces. You are trespassing on a Dominion military facility. Withdraw now or be eliminated."
"It appears Boralis' defenders are now aware of your presence Captain. Hold your ground, continue your attack."
Why this one is not on Spotify 😭
My favorite Starcraft theme.
