      Thank you so much! We haven't been able to sell our house, so I'm having to reevaluate my plan... But I'm using a temporary set up to get some things done, like my new course. Thank you again for your kind words!

    Glad you tried making your own! It's pretty straight forward and looks awesome.
    3 and 4 pound cuts would be interesting to see, thought there is likely a dilution maximum to which the alcohol won't suspend anymore solids. But that's why it's fun to play with and discover and make your own notes when experimenting.
    Next suggestion: Paint on the Shellac and while wet, either spritz with alcohol or dip a brush and spatter with alcohol. Have your torch going and immediately pass it over to burn/light the Shellac and alcohol droplets. See if this makes it's own effect. Then take the same Shellac but let it dry. Repeat the same with both spritz and splatter and light the droplets with the torch. Different effect then wet?
    If dried Shellac turns out interesting, you could then use a brush or dropper to apply alcohol to specific spots in a controlled manner and light each one as you go. Each successive application and lighting would inform your next. Sort of like you and the painting working together.
    Glad it worked out for you!
    Bert

    Great experiment, very helpful! Did you eventually make a stronger concentrate and try it out?

    Where did you purchase your flakes. It seems really expensive.. thanks

      I get mine from highland woodworking. You get a lot at once, so unless you're making a ton of shellac the flakes will last you awhile.

    What do you mean by 2 pound cut?

    • @thefarpavilion
      @thefarpavilion  3 года назад

      That refers to the concentration of shellac. 2 pound cut is a formula that means you use 2 pounds of shellac for every gallon of alcohol. I don't make that much so I shrink the formula down, but it's the same ratio. I hope this helps!
