OK, I KNOW this is an older video, but I just recently subbed, and am looking back thru some of your stuff...I LOVE it!!! Your shop looks like mine, in that it is not sanitary like many others show. It is as if they do NOTHING in their shop, just clean all the time for video production. YOU look as if you actually USE your shop...sorta like mine...
Welcome aboard man - have a look around, coffee and donuts are in back ;) The stories I would just love to tell about clean shops and RUclips hahaha - you have no clue
Anti-clockwise as opposed to counter-clockwise. Also glad to see you turned the unit around before mounting it, giving easier access to the blast gate pull. Nice tips Nick. Thanks for the tips and laughs.
While I'm picking up tips and ideas from your videos, I lose track of the number of times that you crack me up.....often to the point where I have to back up the video 'cause I missed a part, laughing!! As it turns out, I'm just about to pick up a new bandsaw.....a 'real' one! As such, I need to do a similar project, so thanks for the great tips! In answer to your question, I have built, torn down, and rebuilt shops more times than I care to count...because life gets in the way! My grandfather got me started very young, and now i'm very old (well...not really. I'm 66). This (last) time, I have indeed built up gradually. Though I don't have 'Cadillac' tools, they're pretty respectable, and accurate....which, I guess, is what counts! Having just retired, my income tightened up a lot, so that bandsaw is the last 'big' purchase, but I will have pretty much anything I need....or, at least, will have the capacity to build anything I don't have, and need. This has taken the better part of the last ten years or so, but has been worth it! My wife even insists that a few of my projects should be mass-produced and sold! She spent 35 years as an art teacher, so I take her opinion very seriously! Whether I actually go to market with my 'gizmos,' or not, it's very satisfying! What more can one ask for? Be well, my friend! :-)
Good to see a Nick Ferry video! Had my Ferry tee on yesterday in the shop, channeling you. 😂 It's getting too big since I lost a bunch of weight! It never fails that I learn something watching your vids. The interchangeable screwdriver fitting the hose clamps is great. And for the record, I noticed the backwards one in the beginning. Thanks for fessing up! lol And lastly, it always does my heart good to see that mine isn't the only messy shop around. Thanks for that most of all. Peace out bro.
Remembering to tension the bandsaw blade was an issue for me until started using a small piece of Plywood with a slot that I set on the table in front of the blade with the message 'Tension' written on it. I guess whatever reminder that works is all that really matters.
Really liked the video and the tips, Nick's next project? How about sinking a couple magnets in the soft jaws for the vice to avoid picking them up all the time. lol Mine fall off too so do as I say not as I do.
Mr. Ferry - I absolutely enjoy 99 percent of your videos. (I haven't watched 100 of them so that's just a guess). I have to ask why did you go through all of that trouble with a junk "pot metal" blast gate. With all of your talent you can make a better blast gate out of wood. I believe the wood ones work better, look better and are way cheaper. Please keep making these videos. You are the best at explaining the "whys" along with the "hows". Richmond VA
Hey nick, I noticed u do some sets and I wanted to know if u could show us how to make a Schroeder piano for your a good man Charlie Brown, must be strong enough to stand on
I wish my bandsaw was that quiet and smooth.. My old Delta no matter what i've tried the blade seems to always smack the plastic channel that is bolted to the spine..
hard to diagnose in comments section but remember when diagnosing break it down into small bits - is this doing this? why or why not? what can change that one thing? etc. etc. - personally I'd test a different blade first to eliminate that - then move onto more in steps
Sorry for all the comments I comment as I watch because I'll never remember it. But I love just working on something for the work space also art studio. It makes storage and work flow better, but i also hope to make money for it as well
Its been a while. This was funnier than usual. Miss the videos.
Much appreciated - this was more fun to make

It's always great to see Nick in the shop! Thanks for the video, Nick!
Thanks buddy!

You really can’t ask for much more - satisfying things in life are underrated
You were the first "woodworker" I subbed to. Still great!! Keep it up!
thanks much man!
Another great vid Nick!
thanks much - always fun to share what I have going on
Great to see a video from you. Thanks for sharing. Great project. I also like how "used" your shop looks. :)
Haha much appreciated Angie
Fun to watch Nick. Good Ideas throughout.
Thanks much Gary!
hope your home owners insurance company doesn't see your shop! LOL great to see your smiling face

Much appreciated man - it was a cluster for a while there
Thanks for the show, Nick. Always fun at your shop.
.
Thanks Chuck!
That was fun, wish you would do that more often.
Thanks - I’m planning on it
Love these kind of videos nick!
Thanks man

Another good idea - yeah it’s those subtleties in our own shops - for my drill batteries is they are on the shelf upside down they need charging
YAY! Welcome back to YT.
thanks!!
Awesome video
thanks buddy!
Nice work Nick! 👍🏻👊🏻
Thanks buddy!
Great idea, thanks for sharing.
thanks
Interesting appreciate you sharing thanks have a blessed day
Thanks

thanks - that jaw was on a mission to be set free - you have to admire the determination
True it seems rambunctious
Great video. So funny. Thanks for sharing! : )
Awesome video, one of the hoses going into the dust collector looks at the angle showed is very tight bend almost pinched such
thanks - yeah it's a pretty hard 90 - ideally a longer sweep - but, as it is

thanks - I had a couple blast gates kicking around - even if I didn't I doubt I'd make my own gate - never say never but probably not
nice fix
Thanks buddy
Hey nick, I noticed u do some sets and I wanted to know if u could show us how to make a Schroeder piano for your a good man Charlie Brown, must be strong enough to stand on
That would be a tad too specific for me to make to show - if it’s something like that I’d have to have a reason for it locally
I wish my bandsaw was that quiet and smooth.. My old Delta no matter what i've tried the blade seems to always smack the plastic channel that is bolted to the spine..
that does sound odd
@@NickFerry Yeah, I've tried changing the tension.. Wheel does not seem to have any permanent marks, tracks good.. Just doesn't seem to be smooth.
hard to diagnose in comments section but remember when diagnosing break it down into small bits - is this doing this? why or why not? what can change that one thing? etc. etc. - personally I'd test a different blade first to eliminate that - then move onto more in steps
I thought you'd have the blast gate on the floor behind the bandsaw and have a handbrake style device mounted on the arm
That would be a solid way of doing it

No problem - I just type while watching and submit one - it’s all good
Howdy Nick!
