Inspiration China · Xiyanchi Building Exhibition Hall
This theme will introduce Cartier's inspiration for travel fashion, archaeological discoveries and curiosity about the unknown world in the early 20th century. The Chinese artifacts collected by Cartier founder Louis-François Cartier became the original source of inspiration for the workshop.
Important exhibits include a retrograde pointer carp clock inspired by the ``Jade Carp'', a Chinese-style cosmetic case inspired by Kangxi's pink-glazed porcelain plate, a bird of paradise brooch designed with reference to the Chinese god bird "Phoenix", and a Chinese totem dragon-patterned cosmetic case, etc. .
Demeanor Witness · Wumen Main Hall
During the 20th century, Cartier was gradually favored by the royal family and the European aristocracy. It obtained a large number of commissions and was authorized by the royal family. The theme of "Demonstration Witness" will showcase Cartier's custom-made jewelry and crowns for the royal family and aristocratic class.
Important exhibits include the scroll-style crown worn by Queen Elizabeth of Belgium, and the Indian crown worn by Queen Elizabeth II at the coronation ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II of England. The Palace Museum will also exhibit a dragon robe of the Qing Dynasty and an imperial seal, showing a symbol of power in ancient China.
Time Skills · Dongyanchi Exhibition Hall
This theme will focus on the exploration and development of Cartier and the Palace Museum in the field of clocks and watches. The two more special exhibits are two gravity rolling clocks from the Palace Museum and the Cartier Collection. The cylindrical clock descends along a gentle slope and takes 24 hours and 7 days to reach the bottom to achieve the timing function. Both have the form and function. The same works are the same.
Most of the exhibited works come from the collections of the Cartier Collection and the Palace Museum, as well as many international museums, art institutions, royal and personal collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the National Gallery of Australia, the Qatar Museum, and the La Chapelle International Clock Museum in Switzerland.
