Such a crazy city Bangkok is. From overwhelmingly busy, cars everywhere, the never ending noise and the people on people, it was a very different experience for us little Australian family who grew up in the sticks. Living on a boat we are used to vacant beaches, palm trees and talking to rocks, now we are in the middle of truly organised chaos!!
We had made the trip to Bangkok for Bonita to have emergency surgery. Now that she has been through the operation and is on the mend, we decided that with a few days left in Bangkok, we wanted to play tourist and check out something unique.
The first bustling market is created on top of a train track. The shades and stalls cover the track and then 8 times a day, the vendors pull back their shades to allow the train to rattle through the market, missing their stalls and products but only inches!
The second market is based from the old farming days where the rural communities were entwined by canals where the farmers would bring their fresh produce to market by boat. It has since transformed into a bustling tourist destination as the long tail boats bumper car their way through the market with stalls either side.

That was an up-beat, high-energy, fun video ! Talula with her arms around both mom & dad, drawing Bonito closer to her & dad was precious. You're doing the absolute right thing by returning Marley home. This reunion is long overdue and such wonderful and emotional news! Marley has always been the missing link. Blessings.

Bangkok is one of my favorite cities in the world went there the first time on a whim with no plans booked a hotel from the Bangkok airport at the hotel desk. If it's your first time do book a tour. Now we hear you are getting your dog back the family is complete.

I used to work in that part of the world, although based in Singapore. I remember having to meet people in Bangkok and thinking I could schedule two meetings a day, one in the morning and one after lunch, in the afternoon. I soon learned that was impossible. The traffic was just horrendous, and seemingly completely out of control. I couldn't "schedule" anything, because I never knew how long it would take to get there. In Bangkok you could get trapped in traffic snarl-ups at 3 o'clock in the morning. I've been in cities all over the world, Bangkok was easily the easiest to get lost in! Phone books in Thai script didn't help, either... I remember that train market, too. Nothing seems to have changed, except the train! It seems to look more modern.

When I got to Bangkok in 1966 I wondered Why the buildings were so far apart in the city. I found out that before the automobile came along the waterways covered the city like Vennis. When the canals were filled in this made the street very wide unlike most old cities.

When I was in Thailand during Nam, those little 3 wheeled taxis didn't have motors, the driver had to pedal them and they were called samlors (sam-lars). That was a few billion years ago.

Great story, great editing.. One of my favorites is when you two went to that mountain 5 star resort and really showed how cool it was. This was super interesting and I felt like I was right there with you three. New Boat, Better health in your body and family and now going to get sweet Marlee... OMG I was at those markets 4 yrs ago. It's amazing how they pull in all the shades before the train passes through. And not far from there is the famous World War 2 Bridge is. The Bridge over the River Qy. The spelling is wrong but it was made into a Classic movie.

Looks like the Floating Market has not changed since my first visit there in 1968. The long tail boats are a lot of fun to ride out in open water, they are very fast and the drivers like speed,
