- The Yakuza franchise, or nowadays "Like a Dragon", is very dear to me and I definitely will archive them someday on the channel. But there are so many games out, that I have to find a spot of free time to do this and thus I thought it would be a great idea to archive the black sheep in the family of the Yakuza games.
Yakuza Dead Souls is a zombie what-if scenario set in the world of Yakuza with all your beloved characters like Kiryu, Majima and even Ryuji Gota or Daigo Dojima. We find ourselves in Tokyo where a zombie invasion is spreading fast and we will play as four different protagonists as we have to save Tokyo and Kamurocho.
The core gameplay of Dead Souls is very different than the regular Yakuza games as this plays more like a third person shooter. You get to use various weapons and have to mow your way through thousands of zombies. You can still use some melee moves from the old games, but they won't do you any good. The action is very arcade-like, but feels satisfying and visceral. It does outlast its welcome a little bit towards the end though, as you feel like you've done the same thing over and over again.
The amount of weapons you can use is actually pretty big and there are some awesome finishers you can do where you utilize things from the enviroment.
Many people also adore the crazy minigames that the Yakuza series is known for and though they are represented here as well, they feel a bit like an afterthought. Many are just recycled from earlier Yakuza games without any change to make it feel like a "zombie" version of the minigame. Then again, this came out on the PlayStation 3 and the amoung of minigames that the series was known for wasn't all that crazy yet.
There are also some awesome monsters and bosses you get to face that feel like they came straight out of Left 4 Dead or Resident Evil. All in all its a crazy rollercoaster ride thats a great snack for those who want Yakuza with a dfiferent flavor. I wish they would do more of these side trips outside of the familiar Yakuza formula, so maybe in the future we will see a remake of this forgotten classic.

I loved this game, despite its obvious and pretty big flaws in gameplay.
I especially loved the trailer;
"They've faced rival syndicates, gang wars.
But now they face their greatest enemy of all....
KARAOKE!

Sadly though, this games low sales outside of Japan were a reason why Sega stopped bringing them over for a long time.
Until mass appeal from fans convinced them to localize Yakuza 5 and the series has been unstoppable since.
I love this game already now their is a zombie Apocalypse amazing and great video keep it up
Hello friend , will you play evil nun the broken mask all chapters again but in extreme mode? Or if you don't plan to do it, could you do it? or just play extreme doing some ending?
Kind of wish they would remaster this, like with the Resident Evil games. Sucks we'll never see it
