I heard you loud and clear about wanting more traditional lets play stuff and I'm stoked for it. I noticed we have a lot of Silent Hill fans. Who else is playing/watching for the first time? For people who played the originals, how does this one hold up?
Also also sorry for double post, but a 'light' (shorter?) but fun game for a let's play, I may have suggested previously (years back), is "Torment: Tides of Numenara". To say it's 'weird' and 'unusual' is an understatement lol
Played 1-4 back when they first came out. Haven't played this remake, but it looks like a pretty good graphical update to the original if nothing else. Anyway Odd, hope you enjoy your descent into Hell! (Certainly one of my favorite depictions of the place... of course if you get deeper into the lore... well, I won't spoil anything for this 25 year old franchise.)
I'm excited to see you play this superb remake of a classic horror game. Hopefully this is just the start of a new wave of traditional playthroughs that are worthy of the "set the vibe" intro you've become known for. Now on to some questions regarding what I saw in this first episode: - When you enter a new area/room, why don't you immediately "scan" it by quickly turning the camera from one side to the other? - Why do you venture into the unknown sideways or backwards? (referring to when you were looking at the buildings or side areas instead of in the direction you were walking in, in the initial ranch area, when you could have stopped, looked to the side stuff then turn the camera forward and resume walking)
Odd! I’m so happy you are going in the Silent Hill journey! I just finished it and can’t wait to watch you traverse the story. Your horror playthroughs are by far my favorite things to watch! Have fun man 😊
I'm just glad you're playing something that's 1. Not Xcom (even though that's always fun) and 2. There are more than 20 polygons on the screen at the same time. Welcome back!
That point of interest you walked up at the start with the planks was a callback to the original game they're called echo's you'll see more of them, basically just Easter eggs for OG fans
As someone who has had this game and it's music in his life since it came out, it's made me so happy to see so many people experience it for the first time. You are so lucky to have such a faithful remake to experience. You are going to love it man. Can't wait to watch it all.
15:57 Screw the ghosts n stuff, I want the story on how the heck that dug out grave is maintaining its wall integrity that close to the waterline. That is the real mystery.
You were confused about the thing at 21:20. It's a glimpse of the past. It's just a callback to moments from the original SH2. They're a nice little bit of fan service.
So happy for a traditional let's play! I checked to see if you did Frostpunk 2 because I loved it when you played 1, and I found out we would get this treat. Thank you, Mr. Odd. The vibe is set!
The fog in Silent Hill 2 is so iconic. It's funny to think that it was originally used (from a programing standpoint) as a quick fix to hide the low draw distance and texture pop in way back when Silent Hill 2 was first released.
I'm also a huge fan of the Bloober team and they finally managed to make it possible to interact with the environment a lot more than in previous games (which I love). I am so happy to see you playing it first time. I played SH2 many many times, just like resident evil original games also RE 2 is my favorite but this SH2 remake is only one remake that i approve. Bloober team really did a great job here.
Never seen or played anything Silent Hill related, so super stoked to see one of my favorite RUclipsrs play it! Somehow watching Odd play feels safer than playing myself lol
I've been a subscriber since the OG Half Life playthroughs. Ive genuinely not watched an Odd video for years. And im so ready for this journey. Seeing you play this, I am so back for this!!! 🎉
Horror games are too scary for me to play myself, but I love Horror Lets Plays, especially Mr Odd's xD. So happy you are back to doing more traditional lets Plays; those are the reason I subscribed!
If I can give you some advice it's to check absolutely everywhere for health items and ammo. That includes smashing shop and car windows and glass cabinets as items are very often found behind glass in this game. Also beware of spoilers. Not that you intend to look for them, but given that this is a remake of a 23 year old game, people are not careful at all about what they post. Good luck and enjoy!
I am so looking forward to this series. It's hard to find gaming channels that don't know anything about Silent Hill (probably because I watch a lot of horror fans xD). Makes me wish I could play this for the first time again.
I was really hoping you play this now here you are. Just a tip: pay attention to James head movement, he'll stare in a direction when there's a item nearby just to make things a little easier for the player.
I had an opportunity to watch this from multiple LPs, but I saw that you were going to play it for the first time and I got curious. Never played any of SH games myself, so that's going to be an experience. Thank you, Christopher. P. S.: Saw a couple pics of you on twt and realised I haven't seen your face in years (I think). Such a surreal experience. You're rocking that long hair and that mustache/beard when you have it on. I feel like there weren't many videos with your camera on for a while? Those were nice. P. P. S.: I don't even know for how long I've been following you, lol. Traditional LPs are ♥️.
This is great! And I'm excited for you. First time experiencing a Silent Hill game and definitely a great place to start Silent Hill 2 remake. This remake doesn't disappoint. I've been watching your content since Witcher 3. Part of reason because you do read everything and get totally immersed and Silent Hill 2 remake has all that and much more. In my opinion this game is a next level truly a masterpiece this generation of gaming. Enjoy!
Was SO ready for a new spooky narrative ChristpoherOdd playthrough!! And I'm in the same boat as you--don't know anything about they Silent Hill story, so will be following this with fresh (terrified probably) eyes.
Tips below, no sploilers. . . . . Items can be inside cars, you need to smash windows to get them. Your radio makes noise when enimies are nearby. I think it's like 3 drinks = 1 syringe. Dodgeing cancels most animations.
Man, I hope you have a blast with this. I do want to warn you that there are some pretty heavy themes that are implied if not said outright. No spoilers from me, just keep an eye on the detail of things as there is a LOT of story told in the environment (even if you don't understand it at first, that's okay). Also, don't worry about the other games or movies. Most of the games are "stand alone" stories and the movies were such hatchet jobs that they're basically their own thing (like with Resident Evil).
Funny enough, today I thought to myself when you will do another "normal" Let's Play again since I miss(ed) you and here we go, a few hours later haha Glad to see/hear you again in this setting!
Played the original back in the day and that experience shaped me as a gamer and as a human being. Thus, the story didn’t have quite the same impact this time around. Nonetheless, this is a very competent remake and won’t disappoint first timers or veterans. Also, really missed your traditional let’s plays. Hope to see more of them again.
Hell yeah, traditional lets play! I love the Original SH 2, absolut classic, but I didn't like most of Bloobers games, so I was really skeptical. Thankfully, the Remake is fantastic, they clearly love the OG and put a lot of tought and effort into this. Still prefer the Original, but this was a big (positive) surprise for me, gonna be excited for every new episode.
YESSS A LET'S PLAY! And of an awesome Remake at that! Enjoy the Silent Hill experience, it is an incredible journey. The Lore might be a little weird at first, but rest assured you will have plenty of hints as to what is really going on. Hope you enjoy this incredible game! Also, the plank thing is one of many easter eggs of zones or other stull from the OG SH2, more meant for fans than newcomers.
This game, more than any other, should absolutely be a lights off headphones on. And not only because it's a dark (colour palette) and it's very sunny in winnipeg today and the glare makes the game almost invisible lol!
I *believe* that the setting for the Silent Hills games is based on a real place, yes. I've read about and watched videos on the IRL place. I can't remember the name, but if I did, as you requested I won't spoil it :)
Was wondering if you'd do a playthrough! I checked in last week and didn't see anything. Been watching you since your awesome Until Dawn. Love how you vibe with horror games and atmosphere. Cheers my dude
If I learned anything about TLOU is that you smashing windows allows the spores to get inside. Sure, I know it's a different universe but it's what comes to mind.
This game is a masterpiece. I'm so scared and I even played the original. It's paralysing at times. I'll be interested to see if you find it scarier than Resi 7
You'll probably find Normal combat difficulty a bit easy, if you're good at games and like exploring for loot. You can change combat difficulty at any time.
Btw the weird moment at 21:18 is a nod to the Original, since that was the place were you got the radio, weapon and fought the first enemy (tho that place was still further into the city). They do that from time to time as a "nah, remember how it was before? It will be a bit different here". There are also a more deep potential reason, but that would go into serious spoiler territory, so I keep that for the last episode.
Great new adventure start, never played any of them myself. Incidentally, when you are done (or around Halloween) you might check out (movie): Silent Hill (2006) Radha Mitchell, Laura Holden, Sean Bean.
Can't say whether I "like" this. I tend to prefer the scary elementa like you get in Subnautica more than what is often "cheap" scares that horror games often railroad the player into.
I heard you loud and clear about wanting more traditional lets play stuff and I'm stoked for it. I noticed we have a lot of Silent Hill fans. Who else is playing/watching for the first time? For people who played the originals, how does this one hold up?
I played 1 and 3 so i’m in for a ride! Let’s set the vibe!!!
Hellllll yeah let’s go Odd!!!!! 😆 So excited for a great story playthrough and your commentary and play style 🥳
Have you ever done the story mode of GTA5? TREVOR! Lol sorry :)
Also also sorry for double post, but a 'light' (shorter?) but fun game for a let's play, I may have suggested previously (years back), is "Torment: Tides of Numenara". To say it's 'weird' and 'unusual' is an understatement lol

Yes more traditional let's plays! I am so excited for this!
More to come!
RUclips knows. I haven't been recommended a video of yours in forever and suddenly they recommend me this which I'll love.
@@Nifava same here. gj RUclips, for once.

Oh my god THANK YOU! I have been playing off and on for about a week and was mildly wondering about this
@TheCatastropheKid no problem! I can see how they would just be incredibly confusing to new comers lol
Yay! A new let's play! Let's go!!
This is going to be a lot of fun to watch! I know you'll love this for sure!
Hope you like it!
