If the train was built to withstand the "scorching heat of the African desert " , then Mr. Wilford didn't know ahead of time that the world would freeze. Therefore, he's not a prophet, just someone who lucked out at the right time.
Kind of. He probably had to modify it a bit e.g add a food production system ( though I think it says that the train was already self sufficient ) and other classes to maintain it and probably had to retro fit the train to handle even more extreme temperatures.
Indoctrination is a powerful thing. Happens in the real world in all kinds of institutions, from familial to religious to military to governmental and corporate. Everyone drinks the kool aid if they're fed young enough or at a time of despair and rock bottom. The only weapons against it are willpower, courage and critical thinking. But if someone has something (usually threat of or real violence) over your guardians or your own head, it makes it easier to accept it. In this and many cases, survival, immediate well being and promise of success. This particular part of the movie is a great critique of indoctrination through education. Some dumb fuck always goes "that's the fucking nazis man!" not realizing that happens everywhere.
god this reminds me of school when I was a kid! Absolute fuckin lunatic for teachers only teaching the narrow perspective of historical events and lacking the semblance of truth
yo heres my anlysis In this scene, we see the tail section people enter the education section. The tail section people have captured Minister Mason. As they enter the classroom, we hear loud noise from the children there. Already we see the disparity between the children's uniform, compared to the tail section people. The children's uniform is neat and well-worn with matching colour (blue and pink). This can be compared to the tail section people in which they are wearing dirty clothes, it does not fit them, especially Andy. Why especially Andy? What do you mean? There is not much description of the tail-sectioners clothes here. An important element of film language used by the director is dialogue. Dialogue is vital because it reveals the personality, feelings, and actions of the character. The purpose of using dialogue in a piece of writing is to assist the reader get to know the character while also displaying their feelings and actions. One example the director uses is when a girl from the children's section stands up. As she stands up, she says “I heard all tail sectioner’s are lazy dogs who sleep all day in their own shits”. This tells us a lot about the classroom. Firstly, we see her say “I heard”. Where did she hear it from? She’s from the upper-class and her saying she heard it from somewhere may indicate to us, the audience, that the grownups talk ill about the tail sectioners. Also, this tell us that rumours are spread here with no consequence (teacher doesn't tell her of) which shows the contrast of what they are supposed to be (Nice and well-mannered as they bare upper-class) compared to what they actually are. Also, as she finished the statement, the teacher didn't tell her off. This contrast of being of upper-class yet interrupting while someone is talking tells us they don’t like tail sectioner’s. They don’t like them? Can you put it more clearly than this? It’s normalised for her to speak out like this, as the teacher doesn’t tell her off. This means that she is likely to do it again, as no one is telling her of it. It tells the audience that these kids are privileged, as they just blurt out whatever they want without any action taken against them. What is the significance of who she represents and who she is talking about - right in front of them!!? This can be contrasted to when Andy says something bad about the upper-class and chucks his shoe in which he gets his arm torn off. Since it’s become normalised, the kids will be more likely to have their own opinions about the tail sectioner’s which can cloud their judgement as they are so used to having their own opinion with no one to dispute against. Is it their opinion though? They are just small impressionable children - who is giving them this opinion and why? The lyrics of the song that is played shortly after also tells the audience that these kids have been brainwashed. The lyrics stated are “What happens if the engine stops, we all freeze and die”. In this specific song lyric, the kids are brainwashed into thinking they will just die if the engine stops. Yes, but they probably would - this is not the issue - think about the appropriateness of the lyrics of the song. They are teaching the children that they will die if the train stops - why is this significant? They have been indoctrinated into singing these lyrics. These lyrics show how fanatic the teacher is, as she is the one doing all the brainwashing. Is it just her then??? Also how do the lyrics show us this? She spins on a piano while singing these lyrics, and by the pitch of her voice, she fully believes in what she is singing. Why is her belief significant? How does this help in the indoctrination of the children? Even her eyelids are fluttering which shows she is a true psychopath. How does this show she is a psychopath? This effect has taken onto the children, who blindly sing this with enthusiasm. It is scary to think how much power the teacher has, which we can relate to our society. The teacher is like social media, or the teacher is just like a primary school teacher in our society - a person of influence and power over the children - a responsibility that should be taken very seriously. and people blindly follow it just like the children even if what the media portrays is false. Why do people blindly follow things? We as the audience are the tail sectioners, looking at the children and teacher is shock as they are singing the lyrics which show how messed up this train really is. In what way is it ‘messed up’ ? It shows the kids getting indoctrinated right in front of them, and how much power the teacher holds. Which is significant because…
My favourite video quality: 30 Frames Per Minute

Well yes and no. He built the train as a cruise line type of trip and then modified it as things went south
Kind of. He probably had to modify it a bit e.g add a food production system ( though I think it says that the train was already self sufficient ) and other classes to maintain it and probably had to retro fit the train to handle even more extreme temperatures.
I love watching clips at 15 frames per hour

This is how indoctrination works. Yay!!!!

Nicee I should really pay more attention to the dialogue but yea I was wondering why her eyes were doing that.
This actress is great.
What if the train ran a route that made it seem like it was permanently frozen everywhere but certain times of the year it was warm and thrive able
Holy shit I never thought about that
Where o where is that fuckin snow comin from, aint no way water evaporates and snows down all in negative 1000000 degrees
Bio shock but on a train
i wanna see the rest of it. this is so artistic movie.
Kitty Mew it's been a year since your comment so I hope you've seen it. Incredible film about society.
I am really enjoying this powerpoint presentation.
1:48 Captain America: WTF?
im gonna get an A+ when i present this powerpoint at school
This is supposed to be creepy but it’s actually kinda funny and awkward
No that's the intended tone.
This is essentially a Sunday School with Wilford placed as a prophet.
What about shifting tech tonic plates
What happens when there is an earthquake and the track splits apart?
I am suprised it lasted that long.
A day later the train that would never stops derails
You didn’t even show the entire goddamn scene, and it was all in a frame rate so slow I didn’t know it was possible
The real joke is that there’s enough railway to cross the length of Somalia 😂
Wilford looks like James Watt who first invented steam locomotive
This movie was good.....imagine if we were in that train...
Damn
*We'd All Freeze and Die*
i am really ashamed to watch two ads for 3 minutes of 20 fps
What teacher teaches this but it is a miracle train
this is creepy
Wouldn’t those bodies have been buried in snow after a year?
By the moment in the movie the weather has reversed back and snow level was droping.
I know this comment is 2 years old, but the bodies are there due to a manufactured incident, of course the proof of that incident would be visible.
The wind blows the snow off.
So if the snowing stops then there won’t be any rebellion from the tail?
My favorite scene in the movie.
The FPS on this video is the fast then the FPS in my brain
It’s like a google slide show
ppl with claustrophobia watching this movie can’t relate esp on the train’s tail scene
I can only count 6. Did she survive maybe?
i wonder why her eye was so weird lol
So is the tv show gonna explain the revolt of the 7 like show it or no?
I think that the show is another adaptation of snowpiercer and not a prequel
All over the world eh?
Is yona Japanese?
Korean
Parody of Charter Schools lol...
The EU in a nutshell.
I suppose that means people frozen to death outside would be the brexiters.
