Hi from France, menthe à l'eau means water with mint syrup thanks for the very interesting comparisons 😊 I love green, one of my favorite colors, the other being purple.
Although, I don't have a favourite colour, (I love them all!), I do love purple as it's the colour of my birthstone. I also love green and was wearing it this evening, whilst out shopping, lined around my eyes with a kajal liner along with the gold shade from Chanel's Baroque Quad as shadow. I'm getting festive.💖
Sweltering today in the 30s (celcius) and climbing to 35°celcius on Christmas Day and 40° on Boxing Day in rural Southeast Australia.🥵 Please, enjoy that snow for one who is quite envious right now.🇦🇺💖
Jenn, I so appreciate you teaching how to do eyeliner at this stage of life. Even thought I've been doing my makeup for so many years, it's refreshing to see another way to do it that is correct for hooded keys and a bit of saggy skin 😁
Hi Jennifer, I'm also lover of green shades, so really enjoyed and appreciated the many comparisons that you discussed in this video. Menthe à L'Eau is stunning as is Vert Lagon. I'll be picking up both. I also really appreciated that you showed how to tightline. I recently learned that I was placing eyeliner more into the waterline than at the bed of the lashes. When I used a magnifying mirror and tightlined as you did, I had hardly any transfer. It was a game changer! A note about pronunciation, the word L'Eau is pronounced "low." For Vert, the t in Vert is silent, so the pronunciation sounds like fair with a v. A handy rule of thumb for words that end in a "t" (like vert) or an "s" (like Beiges), the t and s are silent; you can literally cross them out. 🙂
Great video! I do organize my eyeshadows by colors. I don’t have as many as you do. It helps me remember what I have. I find that I use all of my eye shadows more. Instead of just using the latest eyeshadow that I bought.
My makeup is all ordered by colour and by combinations I wear together, but I am not a RUclipsr who needs to pull out all e.g. Chanel makeup for some comparison. But for my everyday use I know what I will wear and then just open the drawer with the colours I want to wear along the outfit on my face… I do that with all colour makeup, including blush and lipsticks 😊
I also missed Chantecaille Mare. I am definitely going to get Menthe a L'Eau. So many greens have a black base and are hard to sheer out and still maintain that green look. I think it will go beautifully with other Chanel and Dior singles. I think I'll also get the eyeliner. Jennifer, did you get the Chanel single Jade Faceté that was recently released last year with the singles launch? I'm curious to see a comparison. I can't wait!
I got the Jade Facetté and wondered the same. I also got the Lilas Poudre'--which I absolutely LOVE--and like that the color story at Chanel seems to be arching across two seasons for now. Will they make it three seasons?
Hi Jen, that was interesting to see how different the colours actually are because you would think that there would be more similarities between them all 👏🏻 I have bought a full bottle of VB Reverie and it is just beautiful however it is more than a skin scent on myself which I’m happy with and the bottle is stunning 💚
I saw on Sephora that the new Tom ford rose exposed quad is available to buy and that all 3 of the Miss Dior solid perfumes are coming on the 26th to Sephora.
I've not long removed my eye make-up before bed and it contained a beautiful pine green kajal liner over the gold shadow from Chanel's Baroque Quad. I own a tonne of green shadows, although the majority of them are from Indie Brands. I have the Natasha Denona Reto Glam Palette that contains the green shadows. There are two mattes and three shimmer shadows that give minty hues or very close to. As I'm not in need of green shadows or mascara, which I also own in this colour, I'm only interested in the liner, if it comes our way. I own a spectacular mint liner, but it's hearing that Chanel's has a blue tone which makes it appear teal that has me curious. I was searching through my liners recently for a teal liner and surprised that I didn't have one. I wear quite a lot of coloured liners due to having small eyes and they are the best option. Believe me, Chanel won't ever release a product range with us in mind, we only get tagged onto the end of Southeast Asia when something is being released there. Please don't tell me it's snowing when I'm not long finished putting groceries away from a massive shop after the weather has been in the 30s! (Celcius). We're expected to hit 35°celcius on Christmas Day and swelter with at least 40° on Boxing Day.🥵 At least that has dropped from 43°, although you never know. Surely, there must be more to the release than these few items and a nail polish? You must buy your fragrances for great prices, as 100ml of Parfum for only US$200- is quite reasonable. Don't knock my dear Angel, I still have a bottle in my drawer and adore it. Whilst you're outside in that snow, please spare me a thought while I'm roasting here in rural Australia.🇦🇺💖👩🏼🎨🎅🤶☃️🎁🥂🍾🎄🎆 PS. I'm not at all a fan of face swatching. I'd prefer comparisons be done on the arm where it's easier to see. It was hard to get a clear look due to the light and angles of the face. Just some feedback.
Beautiful eye look! Because the green lighter is different from all the greens I already own, I followed your advice and got a backup which I’m glad I did. I have green eyes so I tend to be careful on the shades of green I wear. This one is just right! 🎄🫶🏻
I WOULD LOVE SEEING TIPS AND APPLICATION More technique videos. Yes ! 🙌🏻 I can’t wait for them we need more for mature babes. I can’t do waterline. Has to be lashes. My eyes nope.😂
Hi ! I have an eyeliner from Chanel called Pacific green that looks like the new Vert Lagon one, maybe a touch lighter and for the Menthe à l’eau eyeshadow I thought of the green in the Tom ford Emerald dusk palette from this summer. If it can help you with french prononciation the « h » in menthe is mute as well as the « t » at the end of vert 😉
You are correct with the "t" being silent at the end of vert...but not so with the "h" in menthe. The rule in French is the "e" is the letter that is silent and makes the "h" pronounced...as in creme' de menthe...and that "h" is decidedly voiced.
@ French girl here 🇫🇷 ! The H in menthe is silent definitely : ils mentent aka they are lying sound exactly like menthe aka mint in proper french 😉 in French when there is a rule there is an exception that is why it is a hard language to learn and master
Green is not flattering on me as an eyeshadow, however I think I could wear this one. I'm actually tempted & considering it. Regarding storing makeup in the same colour category, I think it's a great idea. I recently put all my summer blushes together and I'm actually going to do the same for my eyeshadows etc. I think it makes more sense & easier when choosing what makeup to wear.
This was so great, thank you!! What a stunning eyeshadow. Have you compared it to the light green in the Tom Ford quad that was released this summer 2024? Maybe I missed it 🫣 but that one came to mind, I think it’s all neutrals with one green shade in it - with white packaging
I have the chantecaille mare and I think you are right that they are similar- but I don’t have the Chanel yet to really compare. I do think the mare might me a bit lighter and more silvery looking.
Do you mean the green shade from Baroque? I was just wearing the gold shade from that Quad whilst out, with a deep green liner around my eyes. I'm getting in the festive spirit with my make-up. That Byzance Collection was a great one and I bought all four Quads.💖
@@EXOmakemeHorololo I wore that all over the lids as a one & done on Christmas Day last year and then the gold on Christmas Day. The formula is truly wonderful, applies evenly, no creasing and how can you not love those white sparkles tapped over a shade too. From the four of those Quads, I've got the most use from Baroque. A great collection!💖
@@alenkabernard5819 Yes, they apply beautifully and last long. This is the Quad that I've used the most from the four I bought. Unusual for Chanel to release colours like these, but I'm glad they did!💖
The VB 21:50 is so good, so sexy. I'm about to also purchase Portofino 97. You just want to keep smelling them. I got the trial sizes of all four of her fragrances. Surprisingly did not like the other two at all.
Oh I thought you got the mint/sage green from the other Chanel single shadow release like last spring or winter (222 Jade Facet) maybe I’m thinking of someone else 😅 sorry if I am. I think it’s kinda comparable to the new mint shade if you have it 🥰🩵💚💛
I have chantecaille mare, none of the shades you kindly demonstrated here are the exactly the same, the closest one is this new Chanel 254 menthe à l'eau, it is less metallic than mare. I think chantecaille will reintroduce it.
Wonder how that compares to VB’s latest lidlustre “emerald”. Ive see. A few people’s reviews and every single time it looked different. One YT-er warned her camera doesn’t pick up the colour correctly.
I have VBB Emerald. It is a really emerald green and deeper than the CT Emerald Eyes. VBB also has a Seafoam eyeliner that looks similar to this new Menthe shadow (and you can smudge it out all over lid).
It does not mean water at all. Means fascination style, vision. I love your videos, more then another one. At least you try. I still think that you (all of you) as beauty influencers and with most beauty brands are Frenchh, should know how to pronounce the names of the products. To speak French correctly you only need to pronounce 3 letters: U, R and L. Don't get mad at me, I'm always waiting for your review on any new release. I'm Portuguese, I live in Lisbon, I'm 60 years old, sorry for any grammatical errors I may have done
Hmmmm...a native French speaker says it means one thing...and a native Portuguese speaker says that the native French speaker is wrong...interesting. While both languages belong to the Romance language family, who should I believe??? Well...Google Translate says the native French speaker translated the phrase accurately...which raises doubts for the native Portuguese speaker's proposal that it means "fascination, style, vision"...although I don't want to bust your "joie de vivre". (Ooops...there's that schwa sound!!!) Now, I'm by NO means fluent in French and can only get by conversationally...but as a singer, I have to sing in a number of foreign languages and pronounce the words correctly, and read the pronunciations in IPA (the International Phonetic Alphabet). I guarantee you, there are FAR more letters used in French than U, R, and L!!! Not to mention a non-vowel--the schwa or ə--that French has elevated to all-time high usage!!!

Love the pale comment 😂 and the unexpected face swatches haha ❤
VBB 21 : 50 Reverie is a beautiful scent 🖤😊
