I remember growing up during the zexal era, so Xyz monsters were my go to. Out of all the archetypes in the anime, Utopia had to be my favourite one, and whenever I saw it in the anime I always had some sort of feeling of connection to it (it sounds cheesy but still). Needless to say, I loved this anime at 5, and I still do now.

One thing I liked about the beginning of this series is how they explain the basic rules of dueling...even though we've already had 3 earlier series by this point, but still cool. Also, I don't know who voiced Yuma during the first few episodes of season 1 of Zexal, but I liked Yuma's voice back then way more than in the later episodes.

Shark's English introduction is perfect. In the Japanese he gets all preachy even though Yuma is just some random kid he's never met. Haming up his tragic backstory even though the audience doesn't know him enough to care. But in the English not only is is it hilarious ("guess your right I am just a bully" cracks me up every time) but it shows that he's got morals (he won that deck fair and square) but he's acting up and playing the bully anyway. Also I just love his voice actor!

Started watching a couple episodes from the Duel Carnival arc and ended up wanting to rewatch the whole series. Man.. does the opening give me such nostalgia! One thing I noticed is Yuma’s voice isn’t as child-like as it was during the later episodes also never knew I’d be so thrilled to see Shark in ep. 1 so much
It warms my heart knowing that the are ygo fans that they grew up with this. For me i was already about to finish highschool. I grew up with the original and gx. I'm glad to know that every generation brings new ygo fans.
I remember watching this when I was in Elementary thinking Yuma was so cool because he was in Middle School. Now that I’m a late teen watching the series again I get so much nostalgia of the good old days when everything was so easy.
I grew up watching this anime and it was pretty cool! It was (and still is) my favorite anime. I used to watch it a lot on Nicktoons back in 2014 when I was 8.
To be honest I didn't like yugioh when I was a kid but when I saw zexal I enjoy the story and I even make decks based on Yuma and the cards he uses in the anime probably cause for my opinion building a deck based on the main protagonist is fun sure it has its up and downs but hey Yuma never gave up dueling no matter how many times he lost

OMG. The fact that this was the first ever anime I encountered is absolutely hilarious. Especially considering I didn't even know what anime was back than. I think it was just airing on TV in my country and I could only watch it at my Grandmothers place since we didn't have a TV at home nor did I own a phone just than. To know the fact that the series was a knock-of also had me shook and laughing. I guess I know why I couldn't find the series beside barely remembering the title.

Zexal wasn't my first when I started on Yugioh. I joined when Arc-V dubbed was coming out (maybe halfway?) I think it was 2016. Anyway, I watched GX and 5Ds and found them cool but it never spoke to me the way Zexal did. As I got to the later series I started wanting to duel and man I was awful. I was treating synchro monsters like tribute summons. Yuma gave me someone to relate to and laugh at as we both figured out the game. Zexal is my second favorite series (VRAINS #1) and I am coming back to rewatch it yet again for the wonderful memories.
And to think that Shark goes from this to an emperor of another world (ok technically he already was but whatever) and Yuma gets good at the game and can literally just pick what card he wants to draw with sheer willpower
All the time at least and all the funny things and times of when Astral annoyed Yuma all of the time that made me laugh or get confused and try to,figure out just what he had said to Yuma and then finally figuring it out after running the words of what he'd said over and over again back and fourth through my head. Which I guess makes sense cause Astral talks in riddles.
I love Zexal, but i can see now why i hesitated to watch it for so long…The characters needed a lot of development to make it a good show. Both Yuma and Shark changed a lot. Yuma can be childish and annoying (i mean he is literally a child) but his strong emotions are so important for his character arc, seeing him grieving for Astral was heartbreaking
when I was super young I loved this show until I found about the others and I completely forgot about zexel and began watching Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters instead

its funny cause i actually like yuma's voice in the beginning since its less annoying but as the show progressed they made his voice so irritating to listen to.
Shame really. Eli James (the guy who voiced him) is a good actor but he’s kinda let down by the voice direction later on.
He’s a bit more bearable in the Japanese version.

Great memories. Remembering when I use to rush too the TV to watch this! I even watched it when it was on Netflix, they did not have series 3 though. And they sadly removed it. Happy to be able to watch it for *FREE*

The ultimate main character was Atem. I was sad after the original series ended
Zexal wasn't my first when I started on Yugioh. I joined when Arc-V dubbed was coming out (maybe halfway?) I think it was 2016. Anyway, I watched GX and 5Ds and found them cool but it never spoke to me the way Zexal did. As I got to the later series I started wanting to duel and man I was awful. I was treating synchro monsters like tribute summons. Yuma gave me someone to relate to and laugh at as we both figured out the game. Zexal is my second favorite series (VRAINS #1) and I am coming back to rewatch it yet again for the wonderful memories.

And to think that Shark goes from this to an emperor of another world (ok technically he already was but whatever) and Yuma gets good at the game and can literally just pick what card he wants to draw with sheer willpower

All the time at least and all the funny things and times of when Astral annoyed Yuma all of the time that made me laugh or get confused and try to,figure out just what he had said to Yuma and then finally figuring it out after running the words of what he'd said over and over again back and fourth through my head. Which I guess makes sense cause Astral talks in riddles.
Wht was I so attracted to Astral when I was younger...ill never know

I love Zexal, but i can see now why i hesitated to watch it for so long…The characters needed a lot of development to make it a good show. Both Yuma and Shark changed a lot. Yuma can be childish and annoying (i mean he is literally a child) but his strong emotions are so important for his character arc, seeing him grieving for Astral was heartbreaking
