Great info man. I just got a 2014 high country. Same color as yours! Your videos have helped me a bunch man. Just upgraded the thermal bypass on the transmission. Thanks!!
Just got me a 97 k3500 turbo diesel. 50k on engine 30k on trans runs and tows amazing 18mpg and super easy to fix. Older ones are where its at even if they're slower
Hey, I live in europe. We have roughly same price for gas and diesel, but my friends always say: "the savings on lower fuel consuption goes to mechanic who works on your car". Fuel injectors, turbochargers, fuel pumps etc.(my friend paid around 900$ for fuel pressure sensor on common rail! In 3600$ car!) This stuff is crazy expensive. 10 years diesel cars starts to have problems with all equipment around engines.
i have a 2003 crew cab lb7 i got it because i pull stuff plus know how to fix them more then what i would a gas truck dont need a mecanic to help i grew up with diesels so ill stick with my lb7
We have a mine here nearby which, together with Toyota had an exhibition of 1 million kilometres Land Cruisers. There were as many Diesels as Petrol engines there. I guess there is no significant difference there. Petrol engines were the 1(and 2)GR-FE 4 litre. Not heavy engines (or diesel) which put a lot of stress on the components. No Turbo either which would add to the stress. All newer cars are petrol. I imagine mines have the experience of what is most cost/purpose effective.
I always thought I wanted a diesel but for the fact I have never had anything that heavy for towing. Well I did have a camper once but it wasn’t a very big one and my 1500 had no problem pulling it. Then the price of diesel shot through the roof and I’m retired now so I don’t see it being reasonable for me. But one day I might check the 3.0. Thanks for sharing, Dustin.
People have this idea that they need a diesel to tow anything, gas engines have been towing just fine for decades and decades. I've towed some big stuff with a half ton and it was fine, I just don't do it every day but definitely not worth the hassle of a diesel
My experience with the newer gas trucks have been horrible. I know two people personally that had afm lifter failures before 50k miles and my 2014 with the 6.2 locked up at 124k. That being said when I buy a new truck it will be a 2500 or 3500 because they are built to last. 1500s are light duty use and the epa has made automakes sacrifice longevity to save a fraction of an mpg
Right! Unless you need to tow really heavy weight and have a business to expense expensive repairs. I have a 2007 LBZ Classic 2500 Chevy and love it. Diesels have much higher sticker prices too - frequently over $90,000.
I have a 2006 Silverado LBZ with 254k I used to tow a lot great truck I wouldn’t get ride of it for anything also have a 2009 Silverado with cast iron block 5.3 no cylinder deactivation that’s at 213k another great truck
I couldn’t do new truck prices in my blue 🤮 state. Combined that with high interest rates for my stellar 850 credit rating 😅. I searched high and low for gems. 07 classic 2500 with 117k and a 2014 LTZ 1500 with 57k. I paid top dollar for both and still paid less than a newer half ton. Diesels are expensive that’s why I went with the LBZ, little more friendly for a guy that does his own wrenching. Ride quality goes to the 1500, I love both my trucks.
new vehicles are junk. I wouldn't buy a ford newer than '03 or a gm newer than '06. They make them to break now and you already pay 3-4x what you can get a good older vehicle for upfront.
I agree, Dustin. The new diesels really make power, but they're expensive, noisy, and they pollute. I currently have a 2500HD with a 6.0 that pulls a trailer just fine if ya keep it legal. 👍🏻
See why you lying now now you sound like Kelly blue book how do you say automatically when you go to sell your diesel that's gonna be worth a lot more than a guess what shape is it in come on man think about what you're saying and say correctly
I have a 1998 Z71 with a 5.7 gasser with 556.000 miles on it

Ive got a 6.0 Gas 2500. Gets 12mpg. Thats without hauling anything

Thank you
7 grand could buy me my dream car :/ :(
Gasser for life ! I just don't need a diesel, cause I don't really pull a trailer or put over a couple hundred pounds in my truck bed
Ford 7.3

Gas is cheaper and all different types of way parts and put in the truck
$3 vs $4.50 isn't 50 percent but I get the point
You must be using that new common core math,,,when I was in school half of $3 was $1.50 so 50% added to $3 equals $4.50..
Gas is cheaper
