I have the same stand mixer she has and a hand mixer. For cakes I just mix with a whisk. For things like cookie dough or anything with that thick consistency or large amount of flour I use the stand mixer. I guess you could use the stand mixer for cakes as well because it comes with different attachments like a kneader, a giant whisk, and a beater like an “egg beater”.

Or even easier- boil an unopened can of sweetened condensed milk for 2 hrs (not positive on time, but you can look it up easy) in a big pot of water- making sure to keep an eye on it and add water as needed to cover can! And you will have a magically rich, deep caramel "dulce de leche", which is hard not to eat straight out of the can!! Then you can add salt as per a salted caramel recipe. 🤗

I think if it's a dough, a hand mixer is more helpful. Batter is more liquid, so it's easier to mix by hand

Joanna Hill, also if you are whipping something (like butter, or making whipped cream) it’s a heck ton easier to use an electric mixer
