Having read Harry Potter SEVERAL times, I've always wondered what treacle tart was. And then I watched Binging with Babish 's video and he made it sound really appealing for some reason. Now that I think about it, it actually sounds nasty lol.
We have treacle tart every christmas, its actually amazing!!!

@@madeline2282 yeah we make our breadcrumbs ourselves from stale bread, and we use half golden syrup and half actual treacle rather than just golden syrup!

ccap3211 it is SUPER sweet. But that’s why you have to have it with Ambrosia Devon custard. Ugh so good 😍😍
ccap3211 you buy ambrosia (it’s a brand) but you can make custard yourself. It’s basically milk, cream, eggs and sugar. I realise I’m not making this sound nice 😂

Snicker Salad is weirdly delicious and I’ve only ever eaten in the state of Iowa??? It’s snickers, Granny Smith apples, cool whip, and vanilla pudding. Sounds gross, but surprisingly great.
Mary Ryherd Yes! Except, the recipe I used called for icing sugar, cream cheese and cool whip, no vanilla pudding. So yummy

EmilyChaytor I’m Canadian, and I’ve made snickers salad before 😂😂 once for a potluck because I saw it on Pinterest. It’s green apples, snickers, icing sugar, cream cheese and cool whip. TBH it was delicious.

Just know that this week is my first finals week in graduate school and as I'm slowly dying inside, Bakemas is giving me a glimmer of happiness every day 😩
For those that have never tried treacle tart and are like "wtf is this??" :
It's like peacan pie Without the nuts and it's very sweet and when done right is SO good. The texture should be smooth (ish) and if you want to try store bought Lyles does a good one.
Most English desserts (NOT cakes) are served with cream and custard which tends to elevate the taste of the treat, and vanilla ice cream is often a winner with everything.
For further enjoyment eat it when the weather's shit (so cold, rainy, windy, grey, snowing, or a combination cos England 👍) and eat it warmed through 👌👍😍
Bakemas is the only Christmas series I’m watching this year and I’m not mad about that

Rohini Ramani marble rolling pins have been used in baking for years to keep dough cool like a marble surface. You can likely get it at any specialty baking shop.
It’s not from the recent marble trend.... it’s a standard pastry making tool
