I have had the Smart #1 Brabus for a year now in the UK. At £43,450 it’s not cheap but it sure is luxurious and comes with everything as standard. 428hp 543Nm 0-60 mph 3.78 seconds downside 248 miles & a small boot and frunk. Upside everything else. It’s my forever car I will never sell it.❤
Don't get too hang up on range efficiency. Large battery packs have other advantages such as keep your cabin warm for much longer in cold winter while stuck in traffic than an efficient EV with small battery pack - it can't go anywhere fast stuck in traffic anyway, but still have to use energy for heating.
Yes Sam is correct. 'Dad' has a roof-rack-platform on his VW Amarok and it does generate some wind noise. (Waiting for a Rivian RT1) Hint Hint Rivian! However, the platform does carry our 2 large kayaks to lakes and rivers for awesome adventures. 😊 I will be attending the show!
Smart is now a "brand" 50/50 owned by Mercedes Benz and Geely. MB is mainly responsible for the design and Geely for the manufacturing. In Hong Kong, if you consider it as a Mercedes Benz model (as the dealer is the same), then it is almost the cheapest Mercedes Benz you can buy in Hong Kong and the additional brand "value" is much more than the cost. So it has a small number of supporters, although not very large.
When are EV makers going to realize that most drivers seldom go more than 60 miles in a day? For many of these (me, for instance), an EV with a small battery pack would be ideal: cheaper and lighter, it would get more distance per kilowatt.
People will not buy an EV that only has 60 miles range any more than they would buy a gasoline car that has to be filled up every 60 miles. Think about it. Your comment makes little sense.
@@205rider8... Your comment doesn't make sense. Equating a Gas car and an EV only doing 60 miles range is bonkers... If you can charge at home, then there is absolutely a market for that kind of EV... It's only a matter of time ..

My 23 model MG 4 gets 350kms with a 51kw battery. About 370km around town in ECO. But you get to a point of diminishing returns if you go too big. 100kw is a bloody big battery. Too big?
Smart? I thought Smart was the MB small value brand with the Smart4Two. Where does this fit in their lineup? Will this be sold in Europe with the other Smart cars? Will it come to the US? Seems so odd a choice for the brand.
If the Zeekr 7X is bigger, I would look on this one more favourably. Living in the land of bloatware vehicles (why go somewhere with less than 3 tons of steel around you?) No wonder such a high percentage of the American population finds themselves underwater with their car loans! I still drive my 12 year old Honda Fit (and would find an equivalent electric vehicle in North America, sigh).
Clearly the proper name is the Smart Number 5. # is the symbol for number and, going farther back in time, it is also the symbol for pounds of weight. No serious adult calls it a "hash tag." Sheesh.
Smart might like to think of themselves as a luxury brand, but they are kidding themselves. This is a ridiculous vehicle with a stupid name. Smart's reputation was built on city cars. If this was the size of the Suzuki Vitara, it might have sold, provided if it was priced more competitively. Despite having the Geely battery pack, having quite a good car doesn't cut it, unless you are competing in the sub 25,000 USD market. In Smart's core market, Europe, a Dacia Spring or a Citreon E C3 make more sense. I agree about that roof rack, most people don't use them. They should be an optional extra rather than standard.
It is a pity these new EVs, so many of them, are jumping castles, big, puffed-up SUVs. Fine for the outback, but they are a menace in urban car parks and school drop-off situations. The designers are negating the efficiencies and economies enabled by EV technology.
China next decade. Peter Zeihan. Less people Less CO2 emissions. Less climate change. Electric vehicles not needed. Australian iron ore and coal exports collapse.

The "AR" in AR Display stands for "Augmented Reality" ... not "Artificial Reality" ... see 9:35. An actual AR display would be difficult to accomplish in a way that is helpful and not a dangerous distraction. Likely just a buzzword disappointment in this car.
I've pretty much decided that there's not going to be a suitable Tesla for my needs now that Elon has reneged on his promise to make an 'affordable car' which would necessarily have been a smaller car. I don't need or want a large car, with all the additional costs of ludicrously expensive tyres and insurance. The dreadful charging network in the UK more or less necessitates you buy a Tesla if you are going on a road trip. I'm going to stick with an ICE car for the forseeable future. It's a real shame, I'd love an EV, but there's simply no economic case for one when you currently buy small, high mileage cars and work on them yourself. I might have made an exception for a small compelling Tesla, but Elon has let us all down in more ways than one.

That is a Very GOOD looking Car !!!!
So Smart, which started out as a tiny practical city car, is now a bulking SUV...
I like the Roofrack 😊
This is the car I am waiting for!!!
This is what Mercedes should replace the EQB with. I really hope this car will make it to Europe. So good looking but I don't need that roof rack!
Expensive EV.

Sometimes the '#' symbol is called "sharp" - maybe that's a better name than hashtag? The Smart Sharp 5 ? :)
Simple, Efficient and Effective … nice design , great performance , good enough range … will never sell in US 😂😂😂

The projector is mounted in the front bumper so you can project it on a wall or screen.
I think I would go with the smart 5 only cos I like more suv size, and would like to see it when it comes to England.
I'd get the zeeka 7x. I like the style.😊
# doesn't just mean "hashtag", but also: "number". So it is Smart number 5.
I think the smart #5 looks a little nicer than the Rivian, though I’m impressed with the R3.

Mercedes should only offer CLA electric, E Class electric and GLC electric ⚡️

Not my favorite EV, especially at those prices. Find a way to make it under $30K because the Tesla Y offers better value to me
I doubt they would do their range test under worst conditions. Probably just a heavy brick

Who would buy this over-priced EV?
