Some of the BEST TIMES OF MY LIFE were seeing Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band in Richmond, Va in the mid '80s...and he still owes me money 😂
I got all his albums and the Root 6 cd. This is great!

I will take credit for being some of the very first root boy fans. Me and my friends from McLean we’re mashing to root in ‘79 before he was on the map. The highlight of my life: root boy Halloween concert at the bayou sometime around 80-81. ROOT!!!

this was recorded not to long before Root Boy Slim MacKenzie died in his sleep in his home in Orlando, Florida at age 48 in 1993 and is buried in Fletcher, North Carolina. He was inducted into the Washington Area Music Association Hall of Fame in 2004

Is this in Florida? I saw Root and The Rootettes many times in DC/MD and thought he moved to Florida in 91 or so.
