Word of warning. I think you need admin rights enabled to upload the EDS. I found that out on my school systems that I can't do that without admin rights.
when the same thing happens to you in rslinx enterprise, you will have some advice on how to remove the yellow question mark as well as factory talk studio.
I can ping in the cmd the ip adress of my PLC, but in the Rslinx do not appear my PLC using Ethener-IP, and by using Ethernet devices appear a yellow question mark, when i right click there is no upload EDS file selection. what can I do?
I have the correct EDS files, but under the controller pad it still shows a yellow question mark, I deleted the harmony files as well and it still shows, and it says chose a different path when trying to assign pad to my HMI in RSlogix5000, I have 3 machines out of 46 that is given me this issue. Hope you could help,
@@TimWilborne I'm new to automation, and about IT stuff not much about it, I know communications could be a problem. you mentioned _some Internet security_ is that in the PC or the internet switch that has everything plug in?
today after swapping PC on the machine, I was able to roll out if was a security issue, that also did not work. I was able to get around of the issue by coping the runtime file from a working machine. the issue with the yellow question mark is that I can't create the link path with L43 with HMI, by coping the runtime file from a working machine it works, I still want to find out what Backplane unknown bus is.
RsLogix 500 is for the SLC 500 and Micrologix PLCs. Studio 5000 (formerly RsLogix 5000) is for the Controllogix and Compactlogix. If starting out, I would actually recommend the Micro800 line of PLCs and the Connected Components Workbench software. See the following link. www.theautomationstore.com/ccw-micro800-training/
Actual life saviour, Spent a good 2 hours trying to figure out why it wasnt working.
Glad I could help!
@@TimWilborne saved me asking my boss 😅
Will this shut down the machine if you are in a factory setting? I was thinking uploading usually doesn't shut down the PLC or "turn the outputs off".
You are correct, neither uploading the EDS file as the video shows or uploading the PLC program interrupts the operation of an Allen Bradley PLC.

Good tip, I'll remember that one if someone is having trouble. Thanks Dan.
Thank you Tim for being so helpful.
You are welcome
when i right click there is no upload EDS file selection. What should i do?
That means your particular product doesn't store the EDS file and you will need to download it from their web site.
Thank you very much! I had been with this problem for days, only now I managed to solve it.
Glad it helped!

You should be able to install the EDS files for the device and solve that.
Thanks for the video, saved me a lot of time! Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!

Check for internet security softwares that may be blocking port 2222 and 44818
Can you install EDS files from non AB products on RsLinx?
Hi Trevor, yes, you have to do this for some of the features of RsNetworks but you won't be able to do much beyond that as far as I know.

Anything that blocks traffic on port 2222 out 44818
@TimWilborne I will check it up tomorrow, thanks for taking the time to reply
