Omg bro u just saved my job and got me a promotion. Not even the company engineer could figure it out. I know you tube wouldn't let me down. You are the only video I found wich explained and showed the fix. Great job amigo. I owe u a case of beer.
Been arguing with Linx Classic for the last week or so. I'll do this tomorrow. Seems some things never change...in the old days, there was a file in 6200 that had to be deleted every year or so...Great Post!
It could be the problem. Here are some other tips on troubleshooting connections over Ethernet. www.theautomationstore.com/rslogix-500-configure-your-ip-address-for-pc-to-plc-ethernet-communication/
This is a good video to post. My favorite videos do to are when I come across and issues and find the solution to fix it. Because I had issues with it I'm sure some else did as well.
I’ve got a micrologix 1200 that I keep getting red x’s on and I tried this but nothing changed. 😭😭😭 I can connect and see what is happening in my program but still gets hosed up. Pisses me off
Very informative. I almost forgot those files existed...on another topic of connectivity, have you or could you do a video on remote connectivity/download...particularly download in Studio5000. I can make mine work using the ETH driver but cannot for the life of me connect via ETH IP drivers....but ETH IP of course works on LAN. I can only assume I set up the modem correctly but no success with ETH IP. I’ve heard ETH IP is inherently faster. Something an AB instructor told me once so I’m adamant on trying to utilize that function remotely. Thanks I’m advance.
Hi Traven. Chances are you will not be able to use the Ethernet/IP driver on remote connections. It uses broadcast packets to discover devices on the network and many routers filter these packets out. I think I talk about that some in this lesson. www.theautomationstore.com/how-to-connect-to-an-allen-bradley-controllogix-or-compactlogix-plc-over-ethernet-using-studio-5000/
Hey Tim I hope you and your family all good, thank you for your awesome videos, I got a Major fault message in my Controller"(Type 3) I/O fualt, (code 16) I/O modular connection failed on required" What are the possibilities that cause this error? What I should start with? Before I say the I/O module is damaged?? Your advice please? Many thanks pal
Hi Friend, I have that issue, however I did not find the harmony.hrc. I am using and VM and the problem is occuring with the Work Station. May you help me?, Thank you. God bless you.
If you are using a 32 bit version of Windows then navigate to C:\Program Files\Rockwell Software\RSCommon. If you are using a 64 bit version of Windows then navigate to C:\Program Files (x86) \ Rockwell Software\RSCommon1
I'm having similar issue (unrecognized device and question mark) I did check all same as you did to connect to micro 820 with CCW soo I will try this next also my CCW is version 13 soo I was thinking something in that version is bad but will try this first.Thank You Tim.
One of my biggest pet peeves is software designers that will open a file, do their business, and then leave the darn thing open even though they are finished with it. Rockwell is particularly bad about this, and there is no excuse for this from any designer. Pure laziness. Okay, maybe laziness and stupidity. And RSLinx really needs to die and have something something better put in its place. Not just for the PLC connection part, but the data collection end of things really is horrible too. Is now a good time to put in a plug for AdvancedHMI?
@@EliteAutomation I recently did a HMI for a robot-to-CNC setup using AdHMI. Includes an Excel reader (without using Excel), a G-Code reader, comms to both the robot and the CNC to control them, and soon it will include an old-skool modem to call for help - and (hopefully) not get the wrong kind of help from the wrong kind of people. ;> Came out nice. :)
Hi Tim, I am having the same issue, red cross when browsing in one zone where the controller is connected with five devicnet scanners. I tried this method but no change and those harmony files are back in the folder. No idea what to do.

Harmony files can be difficult to troubleshoot!

You are welcome.

Yes chances are someone else has made the same mistake at sometime. Thanks for watching!
Sometimes I've had to go to factory talk view communication and add the plc hmi individually through there
Interesting!
Something similar happens to me but when I make my DF1 connection, the workstation appears with an error
Hi Tim! My issue is i cant browse the Panel view in rslinx. What can i do? But i can ping the IP address of Panel View.
Same
Greetings from Ecuador, excellent video tutorial

You saved my team from this annoying issue. Thanks!
Glad to hear that Franky!

What type of PLC are you working with?
@@TimWilborne Hey Tim, PLC is Compact Logix L30ERM. Thnaks

Glad to hear that Oscar. Those harmony files can cause some headaches!
Dude. Love your videos thank you very much for the good info!
Glad you like them!

@TimWilborne It didn't work looks like I need some patches ,I will try with another PLC
Hit the basics, can you ping the PLC from your PC?
@TimWilborne 25% 4 send 3 received on cmd but on Rslinx nothing, I used TW tool to assign new ip address still same issue.
Strange if you are consistently losing 1 out of 4 packets.

AdvancedHMI is nice. I've done a couple of them. My favorite one was just to monitor the in & outs of a robot strictly for troubleshooting.
They pushed out FactoryTalk Linx to replace RSLinx. And I don't think it works well.

Yes, devicenet can be a headache to troubleshoot.
