I always thought games like this should make things like rpgs way more devastating in a place with trees or walls create more shrapnel. Like in that snow scene in band of brothers where I think it the battle of the bulge where trees are blowing up and devastating everything. Or like molotovs setting bigger fires in like wheat fields like it doesn't just go out after a while. If it's too hard to have maps be destroyable have it stay the same but just have extra wood coming from no where but look good
Or I was just watching a interview about Afghanistan where soldiers dug or shot out murder holes in the mud walls I mean these games r so beautiful and realistic. But they're alot of data but still with terabytes in modern-day systems ur telling me we cant
@@thedeaderer8791 not a storage issue, but computation and synchronization issue. When explosion happens, who should calculate shrapnel amount and trajectory? - if its the server than you have to send calculation result to n-amount of players, some of which might have different bandwidth and as such received updates at later time. - if its the clients, then you might risk differing results between clients and the delays are still there (some client might have better computing performance than others). Or, to pull back further, how should the game decide the amount of dynamic shrapnel generated? If they create dynamic environment, then any alteration to terrain should be synchronized along with client inputs. Which would negate a lot of network optimization made to create illusion of smooth gameplay in the first place.
