Alienware 17 R1 (2013-2014) LCD Screen Replacement

Replaced the stock 1600x900 LG matte panel with a 1920x1080 AUO glossy panel

Tutorial written for www.laptopscreen.com
General Instructions:
1. Unscrew two bottom plate screws (NOT the description plate)
2. Disconnect battery
3. Pry off bezel with plastic spudger tool
4. Unscrew 6 LCD frame screws
5. Tilt LCD forward and gently pry off LVDS cable from old screen
6. Remove clear tape from the LVDS socket and gently pull out cable
7. Remove 4 screws from around old LCD to release frame
8. Reverse the process to install.

You made it look easier than it really is. Some steps were skipped. Taking out the locking connector was harder than trying to fit a condom for an elephant. I wish i was warned to take the adhesive all the way off, it makes taking out the locking connector much easier. MAKE SURE EVERYTHING is securely connected or you'll be alerted by a blank screen and your pc beeping!

I have this laptop same year it's in 1600 x 900 and a TN panel but the colours are bad.... Can I get a 1080p ips screen and swap it by taking out the old screen??

I have the M17 with the GTX880M. My original screen model is LG 0K6PJ1 (K6PJ1). I found them on Ebay for ~$120 and they say they are LED backlit. Apparently this model is already 1080p. Good luck!

Hi,
Got a question when I am looking for the screen on theyr website, do I have to choose the Alienware screens or also from other manufacturers if I prefer them (I suppose the connctors are not the same), and the Alienware 1920x1200 panel is it just denser in pixels or is it wider in dimensions.
