I had one question going into this and you guys answered it within the first 10 mins, thank you! Other people when asked would shy away from it because it wasn't a comfortable question.
You are correct in your belief my blessing told me there was only one reason I came to this earth when I did. I was to help one person through his trials in life so he would not perish in hell. I have completed that job and he passed and has a bright light around his head. This I have seen. We both went through much.
I have a question for you-I was thinking how many of the great women in the Old Testament were women who acted counter to what was expected of them, even doing things that look like breaking commandments. Think of Rahab’s lying, Tamar’s tricking Judah, Jael inviting Sisera into her tent and killing him, Esther defying the law and approaching the king. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe these women all did the right things-I’m just wondering what your thoughts are about this. Does it in any way show that laws and commandments are flexible depending on the greater good? Again, this doesn’t make me doubt, just curious what you make of it. Thanks for all you do!
I think there are many ways to read the stories in the Hebrew Bible that revolve around the theme of “the trickster.” We see this theme with Jacob, Tamar, Laban, and Esau. One take is that the trickster oftentimes gets tricked. Another view is that the authors of the Hebrew Bible worked to show that these characters used their intelligence to “get over” on their enemies. In a way, Nephi sits in this tradition (ie, Laban’s demise). So there are probably many ways to see these stories and engage with the text.
