As much as I LOVE the original by her godmother, M Cyrus OWNS that song in her cover.
I think most people don't realize Miley is one of the few performers out there with a grave voice suited for rock. How many bands and artists have tried to switch genre without success? Yet, she fits. She has the talent and sound for this. This cover made me shiver during the pandemic, and still does. 2020 Miley was epic and genuinely helped me during dark times.

I've told my boyfriend for years she should do something more alternative because everytime we heard her do a cover like thjs, she fucking killed it and her recent release of midnnight sky is freaking dope. I’m 50, I was a child of the 80s, a Metalhead. I always thought Miley was more of bubblegum/pop and never gave her a second thought. The first time I really sat and listened to her was plastic Hearts yesterday. What an amazing mature artist, lyrically clever, versatile even after her vocals changed. I was blown away am totally hooked and a fan for life! I’m so stoked she is exploring more rock/metal! Even if metal is just in her covers. Right on Miley! I think it fits this song ok, but I don't like it generally. I don't mind women with a slightly deeper voice, but it's the combo of deep and gravelly that seems to grate on my ears. You expect it from a guy, but not a woman. Just like I'm not attracted to women who look like guys, neither am I attracted to female voices that sound like male voice.

The first time I really sat and listened to her was plastic Hearts yesterday. What an amazing mature artist, lyrically clever, versatile even after her vocals changed. You are only now being venerated for your talent and versatility, which is pretty sad considering you have been around for a long time! I have been a fan since your very early days and have hated the crap you have had to face from the media over the years. 😢 Miley, you are a powerhouse who can take on just about any song and make it yours and it’s about damned time that the world acknowledges your talent. You have been in the music industry from a young age but it’s so hard to fathom that you only received your first Grammy this year! We have seen the struggles (well, those that were made public anyway) you have been through but you are finally shining like the star you have always been!! Love you girl!!! ❤
