Unfortunately, there is no old image of the Residenz showing the original colors, except for one drawing, of which only a black and white photo is available, as the original was destroyed in World War II. The original colors were removed from the palace in the early 19th century, except for the 4 inner courtyards, which are still white like in the 18th century. In order to get an impression of the former polychrome appearance of the Residenz, you can take a look at Augustusburg palace in Brühl near Cologne. This baroque palace still has the polychromy which the Residenz in Würzburg used to have.
I think this is one of the most impressive baroque palaces in Germany.
