I've owned Hot Wheels for decades, and just recently started modifying. Gathering information to better my craft. Thanks for sharing these awesome builds.

Hey man, thanks. I try to keep it simple. I am experimenting with painting with rattle cans trying to pick out the best brand . I try to keep my builds in the 3 to 4 hour range. I don’t build plastic model cars often because they take at least a week and can get frustrating, Hotwheels are a lot more satisfying for me

Look up 'alcohol pour paint'. It can give some intense paint looks. My sister did a couple of things that look like hammered copper with patina.
Also, textured spray paint looks awesome. Aaannndddd a light coat on your track adds so much more grip for racing (for fun) and it looks really cool on your wheels of you don't have rubber to switch to.

I did. It looks very cool but complicated. I may give it a try sometime. Thanks for the suggestion. Maybe the larger pullback cars would be a good candidate for that paint style. I have been interested in Manga style car paint too after I saw someone do an rc car body like that.

Hey man you doing good, we all had to start somewhere! I been customizing for about 13 years and I'm still messing up sometimes lmao.
What's wrong with that Maxima? How thick are your coats? Are you using paint that is compatible with your primer/clearcoat? How long are you letting it cure before you handle it? What I use to cure my paint a little faster is to hit it with a hair dryer (after my paint dries a little), blow it for about 10 minutes (with breaks in between of course), and let it sit overnight. As long as you don't have it too close at first you'll be good to go.
I don't mean to grill you, but it seems like your projects got some potential. You're on your way man, just keep grinding!

Thank you so much for commenting. The blue paint on the Maxima is Kylon fusion primer and paint all in one. I did strip the original paint off of the car before I painted it. After it wouldn’t dry I looked on Google and apparently krylon fusion doesn’t dry or takes forever to dry so it might’ve been a bad choice for a Hotwheels, I just really like the color that’s why I tried it. But like you said if I could find a way to accelerate the curing, I would use that paint again I was thinking in the oven so I like your hairdryer idea better. I want to try testors model paint or tamiya model paint and rattle cans. I want to stick with rattle cans after paint stripping because I’m not hard-core into it. Can you recommend any rattle cans?
