  • I've been using the recommended PF48E oil filter for my 2007 Trailblazer SS since I purchased it about 6 years ago. Now, I can't find the PF48E, but can find PF48. What's the difference. Well, let's find out.

There was a TSB about the PF48E and switching to the UPF48R (PF48 has same internals) to rectify low oil pressure symptoms that cause the P5201 code of low oil pressure. I believe the PF48 and the UPF48R is the same internals but just a thicker shell/higher burst pressure on the R version for the corvette. Something to note. Have been looking into this the last day or so and doing some reading, was hoping you would look at the pressure relief valve at the bottom a little more in detail. I think the spring rate may be different, I did notice the PF48 that you showed....the shape of the metal around the spring was slightly different from the E version but could be wrong. It may just be the spring rate.
