  • In this video, Coach Vas is telling Alex about timing in tennis. How to hit the ball not EARLY and not LATE. How to time a ball to get consistent shots. How to test yourself if you hit the ball in the right time. How vocalization helps to improve the timing in tennis. In this practice coach Vas uses different phrases (like “I’m Alex”, “I’m a mental giant”) or shouting. Depends on fast or slow balls, Alex should use different tones of voice. Besides, coach Vas shows the importance of inhaling when the ball bounces and exhaling when hitting the ball. How to relief anxiety and calm down during the game with the help of different tools (shouting, breathing, positive thinking). Consistency should prevail over power and creativity in the young age.
    Vas explains the importance of basic movements from the very young age in order to progress in the balanced way and to eliminate potential shoulder and back issues. Also it’s important to try different types of grips and shots to be able to adapt to various styles of play.

    Great job, Alex. I emphasize all these things when I teach. I have 3 young 7 y olds that are v talented. Two of them playing already green ball T and are more advanced. One big thing, the kid is 8 y old. I used to teach also school for 25 years and is important to know how to talk to a 8 old or to a HS student. Smiling, making a joke , being warm is v important. I am a v tough coach but bc of these things even my 7 y old are v attached and trust me regardless I push them vv hard. Good luck to both of you !

      It is so true, smiling, jocking, positive attitude have been missing during the lesson. The coach can be much " tougher" and students pushed harder if they are kept engaged and happy to push their own limits. The " French Foreign Legion" style doesn't really work most of the time,.... unless it is really a training for " French Foreign Legion"

    • @AlexTheTennisPro
      @AlexTheTennisPro  Год назад +2

      The timing very important. You can hit the ball too early or too late. Both is not right. The exhaling helps you to understand when to hit the ball. Alex for example often gets to the ball to early and hits the ball to early. He is rushing to hit the ball. And ball is not consistent, it is hard to be consultant when you hit the ball one time late then early. This exercise expanded how to find right moment to hit the ball.

    Alex is a great talented student with great potential. Even though, I am not so sure about the coach???. Even though the coach might know very well what he is saying and what he wants to achieve, I would challenge the coaching style which is not enjoyable for the student. There is not any fun or real excitement during the lessons and the student is made to feel too often frustrated by the coach, who is continuously focused on the negatives. Alex is not exposed to new situations and is then helped by the coach to find the best solution for the situation. That would help Alex much more to build up his confidence and improve his problem-solving skills. During the real matches, Alex will need those skills to become a great champion. The coach cannot play for him, the coach cannot give him solutions during matches,...the player does ( if those skills have been developed). I think a student can be "pushed" to work much harder and make much faster progress if you as a coach can keep a positive attitude and make the student excited about the good results and achievements. Everything should come from within to be the most effective. Good luck, Alex! For you, the sky is the limit,...with the right coach and attitude.

    Easy to say things from outside of the court. But I can’t help saying this is the lesson with lack of game sense. Sports is not like 1+1=2.
    And The coach doesn’t know why Alex can’t step forward. He should tell him how to adjust with the spot of bounce. The distance decides how you move including steps.
    I beg him not to ruin the natural sensation inside of Alex.

      Ha. You are right. It was a done on purpose on this Lesson though, it was a test how Alex will be focused on multiple things at the same time. It is very difficult for kids to be found of more then few things specifically when they learning something new. Coach was testing alex on multiple thing. Coach was trying to make Alex think and execute. He said he was messing with his brain 🧠 on purpose. He was trying to make him think about movements and be more focused how I understand. I think it worked out great for Alex. Usually coach Vas just keeps correcting and reminding Alex to do something that Alex already knows and Alex is easily does it but the Idea to make Alex think! Because no one will help him on the tournament. He will be on his one. Here we can analyze how he thinks in control environment.

    Poor coaching from a coach who doesn't understand the basics of natural footwork.

    • @AlexTheTennisPro
      @AlexTheTennisPro  Год назад +1

      Thank you for your comment. Alex loves to hit open space. And there are days when we do open, but today was training for closed. Some times you have to sacrifice something, you can't train all type of shots at the same time. Special when a kid 8 YO is learning something new (like it was on this lesson), you can not give him 10 different things to work on. This time he learned timing, so he can apply it in future. PS. I can ask coach Vas to answer your question. Let me know if you have any questions. Tank you!
