Caitlyn is an awesome interviewer. This is exactly the type of person I want doing these interviews: plugged in, notices the details, asks big picture questions as well.
EXU: Calamity is the single best live play RPG story ever made. I show it to people as an example of how good this form of performance/entertainment can be.
I need to understand how/why Vasselheim survived the Calamity, and I think the city is a perfect backdrop for... Dawn of Divergence? Or maybe it's just Calamity, Downfall, Dawn as a trilogy
Brennan is always such a hecking delight to watch. Great interview! I am SO excited for Downfall. I have no idea how they're going to approach all of this, it could go SO many ways, and that's amazing! We know Aeor falls, it's in the title, it's the getting there that's fun* :D *fun = I expect to be left a bawling mess again, and to leave a piece of my heart in Aeor permanently, joining the other fragments that have at this point been scattered from one end of Exandria to the other. I can't wait! Can I also just say again how much I appreciate when interviewers LET THE GUEST TALK, like, it's so nice when they wait for the whole answer to a question, instead of pushing ahead before the guest can finish the thought. Caitlyn is really good at this sort of interview! When the people you're interviewing are storytellers by nature, letting them talk is such a gift for the viewers :) I always look forward to watching these.
Always love Caitlyn's interviews. Great questions, always engaged and attentive to your guest. It's a blessed day when a Caitlyn interview hits my feed 🙌
Ever since I learned about the creation of the Divine Gate I have been so fascinated by how such a thing would come to exist in the first place. Good to know that I’m in good company with people who would want to see a story about The Divergence.
Holy shit, what he says about Aeor when the M9 find it in C2 and its inhabitants not being a product of the age of arcanum, but rather people living there would have grown up in the Calamity 🤯
I love Brennan's pitch for Divergence, and understand his desire to leave things as a trilogy, but... just adding on that seeing the Gods and Titans sealing away Predathos would be insane.
Now we just need to get some more critical role cast members to guest on Dimension 20. Matt and Marisha have already done it, now I wanna see Laura interact with Ally or Liam with Siobhan or whatever other combos we can think of.
Would love to see a season of Matt and Brennan trading off being DM's. Each of them feeding off the other in the story direction. They could share a Player Character when they are not DMing. Filling this character with extraordinary color and improvisationalism. Making the storyline fresh and chaotic and allowing these two geniuses to have fun!!!
Watching the third episode of Never Stop Blowing Up before this and seeing the players protesting against Gymnast Martial Artists who are all the same age (except for one of them) is so crazy. Why am I more scared by the way that Brennan said that he keeps things on the rails for the players benefit, than I am by the certainty of Aeor being destroyed after this mini arc concludes?
Such a crazy episode. Brennan is off the rails in this season! He’s fully committed to not caring about world building being real or anything normal. So much fun.
So very excited about everything this man has going on and he has so many talented players with him, but if i can say Liam is an actor id be so incredibly excited to get to see brennan DM for i think they could make some amazing drama together
This was great! Im ao excited for Downfall. Calamity is up there, if not being the best, DnD I've watched or played myself. Not just CR or D20 but DnD. I loved it that much.
Agreed. Those guys took humble table top gaming to a completely new level. They gave everyone a lesson of what the scope of storytelling and theatre could get to within this particular canvas. Exandria was gripping, shocking and hilarious from the introductions to the final catastrophe, impossible to pick out one outstanding moment or even moments, there was so much talent and commitment to the telling of the story from everyone at the table.
Potential correction, Brennan DM'd for Matt in Escape from Bloodkeep on Dimension 20. If they are only referring to Critical Role, then I withdraw my correction.
@@badgertime9561 🤷🏽♂️ no problem. You were correct at the second moment when she asked what sort of story should he like to tell with them as players.
I listened to Calamity during work on my earphones, and it was *incredibly* difficult not to burst out in intense emotions. Especially towards the end.
Brennan is such an awesome person. I too watched calamity after the live show, I caught up to live around 87, after binging c1, c2, and up to live c3. I absolutely loved calamity, and super excited to see where he goes with this 😄
i don't know what the story would be but i would love to see matt and liam in draconia pre/during its fall with the chroma conclave. (but the divergence is a brilliant idea too 👀)
This has been my foremost thought since I heard about Downfall. I do like Brennan's idea of exploring the Divergence, but if he and Matt wanted to skip a bit further ahead, the destruction of Molaesmyr would be the next most impactful and significant event in Exandrian history to explore (in my humble opinion). Also, was Ludinus both a founder of the city and a catalyst for its demise?
My Pitch: EXU Divergence, three part series, players are the gods themselves. First episode focuses on the prime deities, second focuses on the betrayer gods, third episode is a PVP showdown between the players playing the betrayers and the players playing as the primes. You're welcome
Wait, are you trying to tell me Escape from the Blood Keep wasn't in Exandria's past? Ok, I guess I can watch Brennan with Matt and Liam at some point in the future, twist my arm. ;-)
I hope I am understanding this correctly, because now I want it to happen. Will the player characters be acting on behalf of the gods, caught in the juxtaposition between divine fury and parently care? What will it look like to have primes and betrayers working together? That's also a great way to bring another source of tension into the party. I can't wait!
They do an incredible job of making it seem like we've already watched 111 episodes and these are just the last 4 episodes of the full campaign. The world building and buy in from the cast is all just so incredible!
I only wish the music would have become more subtle, or gone completely after the first 30 seconds .. it's so completely obstructive to the actual interview
It’s gotta be champions… right!? That would be cool for them to be the gods I guess, but I feel like that’s too crazy and hectic for the players to be able to feel like they are allowed to make choices with out questioning if it’s allowed.
@@TheOneNotTheOnly Asmodues is the priest, Lolth is the halfing, The Turtle guy is the Cloaked Serpent, and barbarian chick is bane. It's hard to tell who the player characters are playing as. Lora is the Raven Queen for sure. Trist is corallon. Those are the ones Ik for sure

She’s a perfect mix of fan and professional interviewer.
Agreed. Give BLM some room, let him ramp himself up, and then ask questions that keep the excitement up.
I have the exact opposite opinion. That lack of charisma and professionalism, with that excess of fangirling, is really bothering.
'A Players Guide to Calamity - or- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Start Loving the Release of the Betrayer Gods'

the 20 page lore doc that Sam mentioned 😂
I'll say it. Vasselheim. If Avalir and Aeor fall, we need to hear of the city that endured, and the heroes who secured its future.
YES! 💯💯💯🏆💯💯 yes please, Critical Role please make this one too!
EXU Calamity changed my life. I'm so excited to see what Brennan does with Aeor, also a little scared.
My comfort watch! I've never watched anything 5 times through before
EXU: Calamity is the single best live play RPG story ever made. I show it to people as an example of how good this form of performance/entertainment can be.
I would DIE for a Divergence arc with Brennan
His exchange with Lious when he was playing asmodeus was the most hype segment in all of critical role to me.

Spectacular interview as always. Truly so much of my July is going to be listening to Brennan tell stories. It's amazing.
When oration skill, meets intelligence and downright storytelling ability. What a superlative DM.

I'd personally love to see an exploration of Vassalheim!

Yeah in that segment he said “at the CritRoll table.” The second time later on they don’t specify.

Thank you so much. It was also slightly cut off by zoom the first time.
I don't know how to edit this in a meaningful way and keep the comment. 🤣😂 I may as well delete it.

In before Brennan gets called to do a Fall of Molaesmyr story
This has been my foremost thought since I heard about Downfall.

😮The two I want are the schism as the betrayers are cast out and some major story line with Vasselheim.
Who else can use asymptote in a sentence besides Brennan?
Considering the song Mandelbrot Set, probably at least Jonathan Coulton. And me, but only in context, which hasn't happened since college.

Love Brennan's new look
I love this dude and everything he makes
I offer my sympathies to Brennan... full sessions three days in a row is brutal for anyone, lol.

I feel like Brennan forgot about the dimension 20 season he had with Matt. He's only missing Liam in his DM repertoire.
I think he must mean on Critical Role. Matt has been on two seasons of Dimension 20.
Calamity's 4 episodes are all in the top 20 episodes ive seen from CR. I have watched 300+ episodes.

Play the power vacuum left when the Gods leave, maybe in Vasselheim
from where is first scene with sandwich?
i am wondering that as well
Is Predathos the weapon Aeor created??
I like this interview a lot but the endless looping music is very distracting!!
Didnt Brennan GM for Matt in Escape from the Bloodkeep/
I only wish the music would have become more subtle, or gone completely after the first 30 seconds .. it's so completely obstructive to the actual interview
It really makes my brain hurt for some reason, it's not mixed right.
Are they going to be playing AS the gods? I’ve been assuming it would be champions this whole time. Be crazy if it was the actual gods.

Love listening to Brandon Lee Mulligan on these subjects! The Musical soundtrack however it is irritating and distracting from the content!!
This would be so much better without the fucking music in the background. Not necessary guys.
