for all the diy pluckers out there, this i think is the best so far. Simple and not dominated by the fast paced dizzy ones. I really like this. Imma gonna subcribe right now. thank u
Good job on the build. Very informative. I was hoping to find an update video of the plucker in actual use with a bird and if there was any adjustments that had to be made or things you would have done differently. Either way I am inspired to build my own since prices have gone up so much.
Did a great job but I have not seen if you used a 1 or 2 pulley or just bearing plate and what size pulley did you use and size of belt v belt I think you said thanks for your video
What and how did you weld the white polycarbonate board together with. I was wanting to do the same. I can’t pay the price they want for a 24” x 24” board, just to much money. Would love to see a video on this.
I actually cut some small strips off of another piece I had and melted them in with a Sauder gun, on both sides, cut the 2 pieces your going to weld together in a v shape then just melt the scraps in the v til its filled, it's time consuming, but it worked for me, thanks for watching!
If I am not mistaken the motor will unscrew the pipe from the flange unless you use red Loctite or weld it. If you weld it, being a cast iron flange, you need to really get it hot with a torch.. the hotter/redder the better. Weld a little.. peen the weld.. weld another inch.. peen that weld.. that relieves the stress of the weld on cast iron.. then after done get that weld red hot if you can and then quickly peen the weld and let it cool slowly. Arc it best but mig works good too. But it has to be pre-heated close to red hot or it will crack... move fast with weld peen weld peen.. don't let it cool until after you give it that last heating and peening :) Red Loctite might do the trick though because that crap really welds it on there.. Takes a torch to get it loose. I would try the Loctite first. Red. or whatever the strongest they make these days.
I don't have it anymore, got an offer I couldn't resist, but the shaft was just a piece of 3/4 steel pipe, and a side mount and a through mount pillow block bearing, they were 7/8 with 3 set screws each, hope that helps, thanks for watching!
I’m wondering who you made reference to that you gathered info from to make your chicken plucker. Mr. Somebody. I just couldn’t hear it on the video. What was his site? Thank you for your video!
I put in the bottom plate with the fingers in it then about 3/8 inch above that I started drilling my holes, the top fingers need to be almost touching the bottom fingers, hope that helps
How much did you spend altogether on this project? By the size and durability of this model, I imagine you can do ducks, turkeys, and geese also. Good job!
I probably didn't spend too much because I had most of the parts already laying around but I would think you could build it for around 200 if you buy used stuff from ebay or salvage yards, thanks for watching
thats pretty cool, i wish i had one. the ones they sell are way too expensive. i figured when i got around to meat chickens i would just skin them instead of plucking because i dont want to pluck by hand. but.....i may do something similar in the future. usplastic dot com is a place you can get plastic sheeting of different thicknesses and sizes. a 24 x 24 in sheet of polypropylene 3/16 in thick is 10.19 a sheet. they have others you just have to search around their site. hope this helps others who may not know where to get the plastic flat sheet for the bottom. here is a link but idk if it will show up for you guys www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=23329&catid=711
Shouldn't really use galvanized pipe for the shaft , Galv.metals toxic and if u weld galvanized metal it will emit a yellow sulfur and the raw heated metal isn't good around food products ....
Thank you, yes u are correct, that's why I didn't weld mine, but if I had used black steel pipe ,I probably would have, but the shaft part is underneath and never touches any part of the chicken.thanks for watching
Unless you actual eat chicken skin, you can pluck your chicken. I actual hit the chicken in the head and then just step on the chicken wings and yank up on their feet (just like you would do to wild game) this is nice and clean.

You said it best - we live and learn. Great Job on the build my friend.
Thanks so much!
Did a great job but I have not seen if you used a 1 or 2 pulley or just bearing plate and what size pulley did you use and size of belt v belt I think you said thanks for your video
I just used an old scap pulley from an old broken air compressor, thanks for watching!
Awesome! Hope to see some videos of it in action later. :)
Thanks!
Looks good couple of questions , why the three fingers up higher also you better put a little roof over the motor
They help keep the chicken inside, without them it will actually toss it out

Good job Mark. You did a great job.
Thank you!
Great job on this build- how did it work? Any modifications?
Looks great!.
Thanks!
Awesome
What type of motor did you use? Is it from an old washing machine?
How were you able to get the 1" pulley onto the 1 1/16" shaft?
It has 3 jam screws in the collar to center the shaft, thanks for watching!
Those chicken pluckers are so expensive, good thing you have the ingenuity (not everyone has that ability) to make your own successfully! Great work!
Thank you so much! It saved alot of money
Hey Champion do you a have a link to the bearing plate you bought?
I dont I just got them off ebay, I bought 7/8 bearings and used 3/4 pipe for the shaft
How did you attach the belt and what type of belt did you use?
It's just a v-belt from the parts store ,cost like 7.00. Thanks for watching
I agree with Marian you done a really good job explaining I believe I'm going to build one like yours and I too I'm going to subscribe
Thank you

I used 3 set screws in it, has never gave me an issue, but your ideas would probably work too, thanks for watching 😀
Pretty cool but would like to kñow more about the bottom set up
What did you use to make the flange where the feathers come out on the bottom of your plucker? Thx
I just used the plastic I cut from the barrel
I’d like a better look at the shaft and pillow blocks, but great video, thanks for posting
I don't have it anymore, got an offer I couldn't resist, but the shaft was just a piece of 3/4 steel pipe, and a side mount and a through mount pillow block bearing, they were 7/8 with 3 set screws each, hope that helps, thanks for watching!
I guess the whiz part of the design is the water squirter?
I usually let the wife do the plucking. I call it the Wham Bam thank you ma'am plucker.
Do you use two bearings
I did , 1 on top and one on bottom, thanks for watching
Did you end up soldering the part that connects to the feather plate?
If I'm understanding you question right, I bolted it
what kind of motor could be used and hp? thanks
You need at least 3/4hp motor that turns at 1725rpm, thanks for watching our videos!
I’m wondering who you made reference to that you gathered info from to make your chicken plucker. Mr. Somebody. I just couldn’t hear it on the video. What was his site? Thank you for your video!

@@Markslife101 Thank you kindly!
How are you, looks really nice. Would you be able to build one for me? I will buy it from you.
How hight do you drill you 3/4 hole on the baril from the bottom
I put in the bottom plate with the fingers in it then about 3/8 inch above that I started drilling my holes, the top fingers need to be almost touching the bottom fingers, hope that helps
Looks like ya done an awesome job on the chicken plucker. It will make processing chickens so much easier and quicker.
Thank you Brenda
Great job 👍
Thanks
Great video mark and how is the truck 🛻 and how is Sarah
Truck is good, as for sara, she left me and is riding with a biker gang, I dont know what got into her , thanks for watching.
😂 and you welcome mark and Sara
How many fingers did you use?
I have it written down somewhere, if I can find it I'll message you, I think it was 163 but not sure, thanks for watching!
Nice job, bud!
Thank you!
did he pluck a chicken? I fell asleep very early, like a quarter of the way through
Sorry you don't like things explained thoroughly, but thanks for watching anyway😁
what size motor are you using
I cant remember for sure, I think mines a 1hp but 1/2 hp is what's recommended
What size hole did you drill in the hose 1/16 ???
Either 1/16 or 3/16 honestly can't remember.
Thank my almost done i just order my rubber finger waitimg for it !!!
Awesome! Hope it does well for you!

@@Markslife101 Not bad. I'm debating either this model, or the tractor supply stainless steel plucker.
And yes it will definitely do large birds, probably 2 at a time
What is the distance of the hole on the plate
I think I did 2 1/2 inches from center to center
what size pulley did you use on the shaft
The one I used was 12 inches, but a 14 inch would work a little better, thanks for watching.

Galvanizing(zinc) is only toxic if you breath the fumes that come off it when welding it... not toxic to ingest.
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!

In the name of science , I hope you realize just how idiotic that sounds.
It's obvious you need new coloring books 👍

We do like the skin
That would make an interesting video...lol
What?
The bottom shaft probably didn’t see it
What are you asking?
Wanted to see the bottom shelf in the big bully hooked together how did you do that
Bolted bearing plate to bottom of the drum , shaft is held to bearing with set screws
You waste so much time just on talking but no action
I'm sorry if you didn't like my video, i was trying to be thorough, but thanks for watching!
so you didn't learn anything from all that talk talk talking? Idiot.
I hope in your other videos you just don't continue talking over and over like that
I do the best I can just like anyone else, thanks for watching
