Phil Palmer is a monster guitar player, he played with the greatest masters. One of his best performances I've watched is in Knebworth 1990 when Eric Clapton broke a string and left the stage for a moment to switch guitars and Phil backed him up performing a astonishing solo in "before you acuse me".

Good idea as Mark do not want to sing it for at least 35 years. I don't know the reason but is very prefered song. I am very happy for John because is a very good musician.

This song gave presence to me at the rockpalast 79 live (dire straits live)' , sure there, it was a quick smoke break between the gems they falling all around the place that night ( For my humble opinion one of their best live they gave ,pure ,original,real mark on a tank shirt and the rest of the band in kind different mood i could say pop -er) Sure it was sultans ,lady writer ,six blade etc. But when that song started to roll i heard a beautiful heart breaking ballad with a mark knopfleer touch ,it is like sultans of swing made love to a ballad/blues and the birth was this song😂 Sure underrated at the time,but as you can see still standing great Music is forever Peace and love

Doesn't matter how good musicians they are, without MK they're nothing more than a glorified tribute band and tribute bands sucks unless it's on your local pub a few blocks away and you've got nothing better to do that day. I can't understand why anyone would seriously watch this on YT when there's plenty of MK and DS videos around.

I wonder what Jonh Illsley is doing touring with ds's covers? it doesn't make any sense. I can understand there are cover's band out there but the ds's bass guitar doing that? I don't like it at all. He has a nice voice, thought. Sorry, I am very fan of dire strait, in fact.
David Navidad Maeso John has a nice voice, I agree. But the fire (complete lack of it, in fact) in his interpretation doesn't stand up to the material. He's singing the words, but not feeling the meaning. Sad.

Technically, the best second/rhythm guitarist in Dire Straits, even though unlike David, Hal and Jack before him, he wasn't a fully fledged member.
John Illsley is a very cool guy, once part of one of the biggest bands in the history of rock, very humble and still enjoys playing.
