Thank you I genuinely enjoyed this
Thank you for the comment and compliment! Very glad you enjoyed!
This was a lovely video, so very well put together. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Thank you so much for watching and leaving such a lovely comment! Appreciate your support as always!
Love your style!
Excellent flight review.
Your praise is much appreciated - this one took quite a bit of editing and hard decisions as to what to include and what to cut! 21 hours of travel left me with so much footage!🤣
Thank you for this review! I have been wondering about who to book my flights with.
Most welcome - so glad you enjoyed! I have several other flight reviews for flights to/from Korea - you should check out my various Turkish Air flight reviews as well. They are a great way to get to Korea while also allowing for a nice stopover in Istanbul. I will also be producing a Delta review soon, so you can check that out. 🙂
I recently flew economy class with Korean Air from DFW to Incheon & back. I’m not wealthy enough nor do I fly enough to afford prestige class. But I will tell you their economy class is so much better and than that of any US airline I’ve flown, staff are so kind, and the food, for the most part, was actually much better than other airlines I’ve flown. A lot of people in the comments here complaining make me laugh.
Having flown KAL economy long-haul as well, I agree whole-heartedly! Seats, service and catering all far superior to long-haul economy class on any US-carrier!
I should also add that I am not rich enough to fly Prestige class either - a very generous patron kindly bought this ticket for me to come and teach medieval dance at a two-week event in the US. Otherwise, I fly using points from the reward credit card game (the bulk of of which come from the signup bonuses rather than spending).
Thank you
I’m planning a trip on Korean air prestige and I will be requesting a middle pod in the larger area.
Thank you so much for the information, it was very helpful
Thank you so much for commenting! You are very welcome - I am extremely gratified that my observations have proven useful! It is sometimes hard to ascertain what information will be of use to the community. Are you planning a visit to Korea?
Your dry humor is spot on!
Thank you for watching and complimenting! So pleased you enjoyed my special brand of wit! 😊
nice video, the Kpop group is SUPER M btw not BTS! no worries only fans will know. 😄😃😀
Hahahaha! Thank you for watching/commenting and for the correction - you can tell I do not follow KPop very closely - too much of an Alt Rock/Punk girl! 😀
I came here to say this. LOL
@@catec.9088 I always appreciate a good correction, along with comments, which boost the engagement and get my content in front of more viewers! 😃
😊
I was going to say that. I always tell people if you’re not aware just say “band” or “group” 😅
I'm flying business with Korean Air next month, so was curious to see how it looked. It looks pretty dated TBH. Certainly better than being in economy but doesn't look great. Perhaps the service is really good & will make up for the dated interior. We shall see. Thanks.
Korean Air has several different business class products flying, so it will really depend on the specific machine on which you are traveling. You can actually check out the layout of your specific plane on seatguru by selecting the airline and then the type of plane. I will say that it was certainly a far superior experience to economy class, especially on that length of a flight. I would be interested to hear what you think when you get back from your trip! Also I do have a bunch of Korea travel content (a whole playlist) if you are looking for Intelligence on things to see and eat. 😊
That is not BTS lmao, but I understand your point...I wonder why he got upgraded...???
I think we can all tell that I am not K-pop aficionado, despite the fact that I live part-time in Korea! I suspect someone in first class did not make it onto the flight, and so they offered him the seat because of frequent flyer status or maybe even because he was actually a VIP. As we've already established, I wouldn't know a K-pop star if they were literally sitting next to me! 🤣
developing world uses the same plugs!!
As I have travelled through a smaller part of the developing world, I try not to assume that everything is the same everywhere (hence my caveat). Hell, even in the developed world, some countries use completely unique plug types! Italy, for instance - any given vacation rental might have three types of plug outlets depending on the age and state of renovation of the property (the old, narrow two-prong plug, the newer three-prong plug and the EU-standard 220 two-prong plug!).
@@travelswiththecontessa5307 just get a travel multi adaptor. problem solved
By the way, that’s another Kpop group on the safety video. It’s NOT BTS. I’m in the fandom.😅
You are probably the fifith person in the comments to inform me of my most grievous error. 🤣I think we can all tell that, despite having lived in Korea quite often over the last several years, I am not a K-Pop fan. 😂
And that's really common for cats by the way there's actually many cat fountain bowls because they prefer running water
Oh, agreed! Drinking running water is certainly the preference for kitties - in fact cats have evolved to prefer running water, I believe, because stagnant water can be contaminated both in nature and in the home - but what amused the heck out of me in this clip was that the water was running on top of his head! Hwagu (our kitty there) even has a nice porcelain water fountain that we clean regularly, but I suppose in that moment, he wanted the running water from the tap sufficiently enough to let is cascade over his head! 🤣
Wow~~~
👍 👍 👍 👍 👍
I'm sorry, I somehow missed your lovely! Thank you for watching and complimenting! 😊
Yes better to fly business/prestige! I just got back from my trip. Had economy seating both to and back. All I can say is I barely ate the microwavable food and avoided any citrus.
Thank you for sharing your experience! Was it Korean Air both ways? I flew them economy from FRA-ICN back in 2014, and the food was actually decent (but then, I chose the Korean option, the bibimbap, so would sort of expect them to get that right...)
@@travelswiththecontessa5307 yes I flew Korean air both ways. It was actually my first international flight from California. I did have the bibimbap as my first choice. Learning after with the turbulence it didn't sit well with my stomach. I did try eating some snacks which helped a little bit. For breakfast they served either rice porridge with fruit and yogurt or scrambled eggs with fruit, yogurt and croissant which to be honest it wasn't that great. I hope they're able to upgrade the menu.
@@DarkClefairy Sorry to hear that! I will say that, in my experience, the second (or last) meal served before landing almost always feels like a bit of an afterthought, with not nearly the same level of care being invested in either its creation or service. And that goes for business and economy class.
Just saw your video. Great tips which seats would you recommend for my husband and I we are traveling prestige class and he's kind of tall. Thank you
Thank you for commenting! Do you know which plane you are taking? Boeing 777 or 787, or Airbus 330 or 380? In general the center seats will always be best for tall people, though.
sadly korean air cabins are super outdated and they need a complete revamping. the service is always good but the aesthetic needs a lot of work
I concur - great soft product, not a wonderful hard product! But at least these seats were all aisle access and true lieflat - Air France is still flying Boeing 777 to Korea with *angle flat* seats in a 2-3-2 configuration!
my wife and i always fly eva air premium economy to manila but i was comparing quality to this as they are close in price
I would definitely recommend Korean Air Prestige if the price is similar. In fact, I will be flying EVA business class from IAH to Taipei in May, so I will be interested to see the difference! How do you find EVA premium economy?
@@travelswiththecontessa5307 I cannot afford eva air business class for my wife and i, but i hope you enjoy. The premium economy is basically like first class domestic. You get a bigger screen and and personal outlet for charging computer. But the food the same as economy Except they give you wine
Thanks for an insight in a world otherwise hidden from me, as i avoid flying like the plague.
Thank you for watching, as always, and so glad that you enjoyed joining me on the journey! I will say that I loathed flying until I started flying "up front" as frequent flyers say. Now the journey itself is part of the joy of travel! 😀
Something is off with the sound. When you speak during the flight on the mic the sound is only in one ear of my headphones. When you do your voice overs the sound is in both ears
Hi Cornell - Thank you so much for the feedback! So, it seems that I have recently learned a new trick about video editing - I need to ensure that the both the left and right channels of sound have been filled. If you watch with regular speakers instead of headphones, it should sound normal, though. Are there still sound issues with regular speakers?
you missed the most important detail seat size and pitch!!
Well, if I provided ALL the details on the video, there would be no reason for inquisitive people to ask questions in the comments and feed RUclips's engagement machine. 😀 but seriously, an oversight on my part. The seat pitch here was 75 inches (190cm) and seat width 21 inches (53cm). Thank you for the comment!
$6K? Wow. I rather pay $1,500 for economy and spend the rest on 5-star hotels in Seoul.
To be fair, that was the roundtrip price - so say $3000 one way. And at the time when I booked this flight, economy class on Korean Air was $3000 roundtrip; summer fares were ridiculous this year! But even still, you make a fair point!
@@travelswiththecontessa5307 $3K rountrip economy fare is unfair! 😂 Even with the strong dollar, that’s too much to stomach. I used to fly to Asia for like $1,000 most times of the year. I guess times are a changin’.
@@korswe 😂I hear you! Three years ago, one used to be able to fly on Xiamen Air for $600 roundtrip to Seoul from the US. But with the Chinese airlines currently not in the market, there is no competition to drive fares down among other carriers flying those routes, sadly for us travellers!
Hi just wanted to confirm. Do you still need to provide a negative covid test prior to check in?
To fly to the US, no; to fly to Korea, it depends on your point of origin. This is the current status, from the official page: Effective January 7, 2023, all passengers entering the Republic of Korea from the People's Republic of China (PRC), Hong Kong, or Macau must provide proof of a negative PCR test within 48 hours or antigen test conducted within 24 prior to departure.
And here is the official website - you should keep an eye on this because the situation is constantly evolving! english.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/TRV/TV_ENG_1_COVID.jsp
I appreciate your prompt response. I will be flying from Seattle to Seoul next month. I will monitor the site for any changes. Thank you so much!
@@amen700 You are welcome! Coming from the US should not pose a problem, but who knows what the world may bring us in a month? I wish a safe and enjoyable Journey! Are you flying Korean Air?
@@travelswiththecontessa5307 thank you 😊 and yes...Korean Air! As recommended by my coworker
Nice video shame about the recording volume, even up full could only just hear the speech recorded on the plane, which made the ta
lkover too loud.
Thank you for the and for watching! Could you tell me where you have volume problems? It might be the method through which you are listening to it and the channels that are coming through on your device or headphones because I cannot find any problems when I listen to it through speakers on my laptop or phone.
@@travelswiththecontessa5307 Hi thanks for the comeback, your narrative while on the aircraft sounded like you were whispering into the microphone, your talkover then came in loud. My volume on the tablet was up full but your volume was low. Even so I enjoyed the video, regards
@@ajshropshire9068 I appreciate you sticking with it despite the sound issues and very pleased that you still enjoyed!
I’ve been on first class and first class is way better
Thank you so much commenting! At the price point difference I would certainly hope for class would be better. First class on this itinerary was $12,000 round trip! What did you find to be specifically Superior about first class?
Absolute waste of 5500 USD. Sadly. Although you are very clever. Didnt fall for the Bibimbap trap.
Thank you for watching and commenting! I often get lambasted on this video in the comments for being too critical. One person even called me a Karen. But I feel that one should expect a certain level of service and product commensurate with the price tag. On the positive side, I definitely arrived well rested on both ends because the seat was comfortable. As for the bibimbap, I have spent a good deal of the last 10 years in korea, so I have pretty high bibimplbap standards and have had Korean Air's version before. Did not feel a need to repeat it. While not the worst, certainly it was not the best I've ever had, and I would definitely expect more from a business class product. An observation that will probably also have people casting aspersions upon my person as being overly privileged. 😅🙄
Shut up. Contessa can spend her money on whatever and the service was not bad. Your just really poor lmao😂. Get a job? Oh wait you don't have one😂
We watched with our son before our own flight. This was very thorough and helpful, except for your constant complaining. It is an old plane. That's why it only costs $5,500.
The dressing was in a plastic container because it's liquid. The rest were fine ceramic and metal utensils. OMG, the crew wasn't psychic, so they didn't bring you water when you didn't ask for it?
I only see nice comments, so you must delete all the constructive criticisms. You can inform the viewers without being so negative and entitled.
1. I wouldn't characterize her critiquing as "constant complaining." Her review was a responsible mixture of earned praise and fair criticism, with citation to contemporaries providing superior product and service options. This is information that empowers you, the consumer, when it comes time to make your purchasing decisions.
2. When an economy ticket for the same flight was running ~$1200, you're effectively paying an $3,300 upcharge for the amenities and service. Assuming any sort of sanity in your income bracket, there's no "only" about it. There may a sense of entitlement here, but it is dearly bought and paid for.
3. Kraft dressing in a plastic cup is a WHOLLY valid critique. I wouldn't let an Olive Garden do that me on a $9 soup and salad special.
4. If you think there should be more negative comments, please like, subscribe, and share to make sure more folks have the opportunity to demonstrate how flawed the Contessa's analysis was.
1. Dear Contessa, there are so many airline reviewers & travel RUclipsrs who show & explain. They do critique but without the irritating criticism. Your constant complaining (the most polite way to describe) even got the attention of my 21-yr-old college-student son. He said, "Why does she talk like that?" At least, he didn't call you a Karen.
2. The average cost of a business/prestige class is 5-10 times more, depending on the age & size of the plane, length of the flight & which airline. I watched so many RUclipsrs and flew business/prestige class via Korean, United, Turkish, Singapore, etc. I actually took a Korean Airline A380 (double decker Airbus) for a shorter flight than yours, and it was fabulous. Also, it was more expensive than yours. You got what you paid for.
3. Be consistent in your so-called critique. Your Air France first class had economy seats and gave you food on trays, yet you didn't mind.
4. Your opinion is fine, but not when it comes off as whining. Your comments are off-putting and not witty. Self-entitlement is typical of a person who repeatedly refers herself in the 3rd person and mentions her name all the time. Last advice is for you to look and dress younger than 40. If you change all, maybe you'll end up with more subscribers.
@@sirraeditsI took a quick look at your RUclips page. It says "This channel doesn't have any content" Need I say anymore? I'm sorry that your life is so unhappy or unfulfilled that you feel the need to be nasty to others.
I'm not a RUclipsr... I don't have a need to be one. What a...
Good luck with being a RUclipsr. It's a perfect field to be in for a person who can't handle a negative comment. Lol.
