If you get Ending D "A New God", the main character, D'arce, Enki, Ragnvaldr, or Cahara, will sit on the Golden Throne of Ma'habre and ascend to the level of godhood. You can then influence the history of humanity. They will also transform into their godly appearances which is shown in this video.

Cahara bears the crest of a family he never knew on his chest in blood. Caharas entire reason for being in the dungeon is to get a family.
Enki takes on an iron cage mask. Likley because New Godhood is a trap in itself for him and taking this path stops his enlightenment.
Ragnvalr seems to have a bear coming from within his hody consuming him. His inner beast is taking over.
D,arce who was blindly loyal to Le,gardes ideals and would do anything to see them through at the cost her own identity removes her hair a symbol of individuality and likley tries in vain to fulfil Le,gardes ambitions in a timeline where he dies without being revived by her.
Everyone in the dungeon suffered immensely, i often imagine how it would be i were stuck in their positions. Its depressing to realize that there is no ending where everything go's back to how it once was, everyone changed for better and for worst, cahara should've never went

it's a reference to The King in Yellow, a collection of short stories by Richard Chambers, which have to do with cosmic and Lovecraftian horror, in fact many parts in the game can be a reference to the King in Yellow, as it deals with an ancient forgotten city, much like Mahabre in this game

That kinda the point that's made through the game the new gods aint shit to old gods, Nash'rah is one of the strongest new gods we encounter and neither us anything in the Dungeon can kill him and he can causally fry a new god that mouths off to him or just kill us with a summoned monster that we can do nothing against yet the Traces of Gro-Goroth ( not the actual old god but just a fragment of it ) causally one shot him without even trying.
Interestingly enough, Nash'rah himself remarks that becoming a new god is "not what we think it is," and we'll be " a slightly more important pawn in a larger game,"
@@theonewayroad3867 Being a New God is a trap. It isn't power, it's a prison meant to keep humanity from achieving true godhood. Becoming a New God means that eventually another human will come along, kill you, replace you, and you'll join the endless hall of New Gods.
Nash'rah says this because it is exactly what happened to him, he was beheaded by a human and they took his place (only he didn't join the hall because technically he lived)

I think I get it. It has to do with their own identity and soul. The power of their soul made manifest in the context of their own sense of self. Kinda the opposite of being moonscorched where it is the soul made manifest to the detriment of the individual.

I like how the new gods are essentially caricatures of each character's souls inverted, almost as if to imply that they failed despite their apparent godhood.
Cahara was meant to be the Endless one, the envoy needed for the ascension of a higher being. Instead, here he stands, a theif who doesn't even have the shirt off his back left, with the sybol of his old self carved into his chest, signifying his failure to change and become something worthy.
Enki was meant to be the Enlightened, mind open to the endless pursuit of knowledge while still maintaining his humanity. Instead, his head is literally locked inside of a cage. Forced to toil away in the grand library, surrounded by knowledge, yet never truly enlightened.
Ragnvaldr was the Tormented, his life both a struggle and a tragedy. He was meant to be the god of ultra violence, one who slew the blackness but never succumbed to it, holding onto his iron will that rivaled the gods themselves. Instead, the rage, pain, and lust for torment devours him, turning him into a walking abomination that knows not humanity, but pain.
And D'Arce was the Dominating, meant to be a gallant knight with a strong desire to uphold the good and serve her beloved captain. Instead, she gives into her inherent narcissism, her desire to be the one in control, the one who demands power and respect, the one who dominates all around her. Her very self is peeled back to reveal only a pale face with an endless thirst for absolute dominance.
And Le'Garde got exactly what he wanted
