I cant believe this actually happened in my country I feel ashamed. Not everyone one is like that but I agree with this women about respecting the dead. I personally have told the staff at the hospital I would rather die than to come here cos of the their behavior towards patients. I donated my kidney in May 2020 not long ago n I cried to leave the hospital in 3days i was treated like a number not a human being.
What a loss of an incredibly skilled and empathetic professional to our country - I wish she and her husband were able to relocate to another part of Aotearoa instead of going home, poor thing was obviously traumatised by the treatment she was receiving
I worked at Auckland Hospital during the 70s I thought it was an awesome job but we were bullied from nurses dead bodies left in rooms where we cleaned but I wasn't frightened but got my chance to yell at the nurses to grow up and show some respect to this dead person or they'll haunt you and make you go stupid than what you look now.....loved the ending. I feel for these people giving up everything to go too NZ good luck

I am a forensic pathologist and anyone who works in our mortuary who makes jokes about the deceased is immediately dismissed by either myself or the 6 other pathologists here. It is not acceptable behaviour whatsoever to mock people who have passed away. I have dismissed technicians who tried to use the argument of this is a "coping mechanism" and that simply doesn't work. If you need a coping mechanism to do the job then you simply aren't fit for the role and it would be best for you to find another line of work. It is infuriating to me that I had to do 5 years of Medicine and then another 5 years in Pathology training to do this job, but normally the technicians or "morticians" are people who have at best high school education, clearly it shows as they think it is acceptable to make immature, unprofessional and disrespectful jokes.
