I am so glad that I happened on this channel. I tried your chicken kabob recipe. I loved it so much that I made some for my coworkers when we had a potluck last week. They were a hit. I showed them the channel so you may have a few more subscribers soon. I tried the same recipe with pork and beef kabobs also and it worked just as well. Being raised mostly on what we all call "SOUL FOOD" here in South Carolina, it is always fun to explore the cuisine of other cultures sometimes and I am steadily becoming hooked on Puerto Rican goodness. Keep the delicious treats coming!!!
Learning these was a lot of fun for me and a lot of great times with my dad. I got to learn a lot about him and his child hood, we BSed a lot when he was teaching me to cook the way he made things lol. So while I make a lot of fun things the P.R. food has a special place because of that lol. Thanks for checking it out, trying it and giving some feedback =)
It is something I have learned since initially make these. That's what I love about this channel I get feed back that helps me to be a better cook! Thanks!
I like how tour ingredients show "Pregano" haha, gave me a nice giggle. But ANYWAY. Theae are delicious! Made them for my daughter's birthday party. Every round that came off the grill didnt last 30 seconds on the counter. They were a hit!! Everyone was obsessed. 👏🍴
D'oh!! That's what you get one everything is a one man operation lol. I type too fast =(... Though I am glad that they worked out and everyone liked them!!
Awesome! Next time, try it with some sweet yellow plantains on either ends. Just cut them up into a nice bite sized cube & add it to the skewers! You could also alternate between plantain &a chicken but I personally like to just stick them on the ends
Mi hermanito, I just finished making these for the family... wow! They turned out awesome. I would have taken a pic but hunger won. We destroyed them con tostones.
Awesome thanks for subscribing! I am trying to get my dad to come over soon to do a new Puerto Rican recipe =) so hopefully I will have something new on that front for you.
Average Guy Gourmet It made my chicken so tender that I actually kept checking the middle as I was eating it to see if it was under cooked LOL it wasn’t!
I had one visiting a month ago and been craving ever since. Thank you for the recipeee. If I don’t have a grill, how do I make it ? In a cast iron skillet ? Oven ?
@@boricua584 yea, I would do it uncovered. If you want to give it the little char it would get on the grill, when it's done cooking set then oven to broil and allow it to broil for a minute or 2.
I haven't tried it with other meats, though I think it would work easily for pork with out a problem. The Adobo is Goya with Pepper and the Sazon is Goya con culantro y achiote. Up here in the Burb's of Chicago those are the brands I have available =) Thanks for checking it out.
Yes! It goes well on them all! I like any Sazon for anything you want to add extra flavor to. If you’re feeling iffy about what color you want your food to turn out u can always just use the onion garlic one. It has a pretty neutral flavor and no color.
Yes, you can make Pinchos de Cerdo. While these seasonings are different you could do it this way. I will be doing this specific recipe in about a week or two.
Hahaha.. awwwwwwwww =) So you know I am cooking Arroz con Pollo this weekend. I just put all my PR recipes up on the Facebook page I think it is a little easier to look through those if you want to check out more. facebook.com/AverageGuysGourmet/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1779294695618127
chancel93 you can make your own sazon by mixing cumin, dried oregano, ground coriander, onion powder, garlic powder, dried cilantro flakes, ground annatto (achiote), black pepper, and salt, use equal amounts or more of one flavor you your taste. Hope that helps 😀
You could broil it. I wouldn't have exact times on how long it would be one you would have to play with and watch. I apologize I have never broiled it before but that would be the closest to grilling it.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but chicken thighs do not cook in 20 mins when I make them. They would be like rubber. I would give them a minimum cook time of 45 to 60 mins.
I would say salt is super personal. Where my dad liked super salty (this is his recipe lol) I like less salty so when making it just for me I would probably do like you can cut back lol.
You're actually missing for other ingredients to be 100% Puerto Rican but some secrets I'm not meant to be given I don't know if you know them but if he do thank you for not revealing dumb lloll😛👍👍
Average Guy Gourmet I got taught how to cook by my aunts grandmother father in Puerto Rico in the Campo since the age of 8 years old taught all the secrets of making fresh seasonings from scratch however you have people that take recipes from other country make them their own then say that they are the ones who created it I've seen it done before it's nice to show people how to do stuff but not give away all the secrets stay happy steak cooking full belly Kool-Aid smile and a happy heart hahahaha lllolll well what can I say one love to Puerto Rico👅👌👍🍢🍺
Hey man, I don't know if you can help me. I visited Puerto Rico back 1999 and I would buy pinchos on the street and the sauce they had with it was distinct from anything I've ever tasted. I want to know what this sauce is or how to make it. I had pinchos from various sources but the sauce seemed to be rather standard in all of them, so it leads me to believe there is a standard recipe. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
I have made home made Sazon before. 1 Tablespoon coriander, 1 Tablespoon Cumin, 1 Tablespoon ground annatto seeds (if you can't find these use turmeric) 1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder, 1 Tablespoon salt, 2 teaspoons oregano, 1 tsp black pepper and just mix it all together. You should be able to do them in the oven, I would say about 275-300˚ F until the chicken is cooked all the way through.
Just a tip. If you soak the sticks in water for a couple of hours they won’t burn as much on the grill.
Johnny Pena Thanks for watching and taking time to drop a tip for easier cooking!
Good to know !!!
Or, lay a sheet of foil just under the part of the skewer that you would grab.
Thanks Johnny!!
Better yet, use metal skewers.
You just gave me a flashback of the pinchos I used to eat in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷! They're so good 😊
Thanks!

Pro tip:
In the Philippines, we soak the skewers at the same time we marinate to prevent
the charcoals on the plate.
It is something I have learned since initially make these. That's what I love about this channel I get feed back that helps me to be a better cook! Thanks!
Omg, that looks heavenly! I am going to make them tonight. I am always looking for new ways to make chicken. Thanks again, Tony.
Anytime =) I just made these again about a week ago (along with pork ones too ) They are soooo perfect for grilling season lol.

Simple, delicious, all ingredients on hand. Thanks for recipe!
Awesome! Hopefully you made it and you loved it lol.

I am making these again Tuesday I will give that a try thanks!!
Cool so easy this would go great with my grandmas gandule rice
YES!!!!!!!! So much yes =)
I do mines a bit different, I clean my meat with vineager, I put garlic powder, oregano, adobo, & sazon.
@siomyxxx. Dumb Q: What does the vinegar do? Do you dry the chicken and still marinate with the oil?
Mi hermanito, I just finished making these for the family... wow! They turned out awesome. I would have taken a pic but hunger won. We destroyed them con tostones.
I'm making this tonight have them marinating already thanks for recipe new subscriber

You are so welcome! I am glad you liked it.
I already bought all the ingredients and I'm making them tonight.
DONT FORGET A SPLASH OF BEER! I do this & it makes everything so incredibly juicy & tender.
I will have to try it that way Thanks for the tip! This is what I love most in feed back little tweaks I can use to improve things.
Average Guy Gourmet It made my chicken so tender that I actually kept checking the middle as I was eating it to see if it was under cooked LOL it wasn’t!
Thanks for the tip.
Wow...delicious looking! 💕👏🏼💕💕👏🏼💕
This is legit one of my favorite grill recipes.

Dead ringer for Ricardo Ribeiro, same accent and voice too! Great video.
Hahaha thanks man.
Looks delicious
Thank you 😋
I had one visiting a month ago and been craving ever since. Thank you for the recipeee. If I don’t have a grill, how do I make it ? In a cast iron skillet ? Oven ?
I would go oven. Maybe like 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Just make sure it's cooked all the way through.
Average Guy Gourmet uncovered ?
@@boricua584 yea, I would do it uncovered. If you want to give it the little char it would get on the grill, when it's done cooking set then oven to broil and allow it to broil for a minute or 2.
Average Guy Gourmet thank you ☺️
Mela Boricua I tried broiling them and also used indoor grill and broiled for a bit so sauce can cook up
You forgot the bread!!
The Onions and bell pepper too!😩

All real OG puertoricans know that the best pinchos are in Willi’s Pinchos
AWESOME! Same seasoning for pork, shrimp, beef? What type of adobe? What type of Sazon?
Thanks

Goya
I've never seen chicken every Puerto rican food truck has pork pinchos
I do make pork ones also, I season them differently than these. And well, I just prefer these lol.
I ad red and green pepper but I add that for the flavor
Love this video! :)
Forgot el pancito in top papa ! What bbq u recomend ?
Damn that looks goooood!
Looks gooddddd
Great video! would the recipe be the same if I were to use pork instead?
Yes, you can make Pinchos de Cerdo. While these seasonings are different you could do it this way. I will be doing this specific recipe in about a week or two.

Hey can i make this in the oven or on a pan? And by what can i replace the sazon please? Trying this from France and we don’t have that thank u ☺️
chancel93 you can make your own sazon by mixing cumin, dried oregano, ground coriander, onion powder, garlic powder, dried cilantro flakes, ground annatto (achiote), black pepper, and salt, use equal amounts or more of one flavor you your taste. Hope that helps 😀
bro, i grew up in a puerto rican family and ate only puerto rican food, and ive NEVER seen someone measure adobo lol
Just stuck mine in the fridge!
Piece of french bread on the pincho
Can you bake or broil them? I don't have a grill.
You could broil it. I wouldn't have exact times on how long it would be one you would have to play with and watch. I apologize I have never broiled it before but that would be the closest to grilling it.
cant wait to try this...can i use boneless breast ?
Yes, that is fine, I was just going with the way my Dad taught me for the video, but I have done it with breasts before.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but chicken thighs do not cook in 20 mins when I make them. They would be like rubber. I would give them a minimum cook time of 45 to 60 mins.
Holy shit! Lol
I dont even cook full thighs for 45 min. Let alone cut up.
Ur definitely doing something wrong
20 mins is more than enough time for any kind of white meat when they are cut in chunks.
@@rosedolch8637 thighs are dark meat.
@@howward4071 I have been making General Tso for 25 years. I KNOW WHAT THIGH MEAT IS
@@rosedolch8637 Your comment mentions white meat so I don't know what you're coming at me for.
Definitely 😮😢
You miss the garlic bread
We do that too lol
Sazon has way too much msg no bueno but can u suggest a substitute
Chicken kabob? We do pinchos not only with chicken, but also with pork and even turkey
So what?
This one is about chicken
Los palitos deberias mojarlos unos minutos antes para que no se quemen
Y el pan donde esta?
Dude u don’t trim the fat off it most of it will burn off but trim the fat it still will be tender
Sencillo!
that was more than a tsp of oil lol....
Yea just over a Tbsp... but that's what I have listed.. I don't measure any more I just pour after awhile you stop taking exact measurements.
That was not 1 table spoon of olive oil lol
2 packets of sazon? Too much salt n msg 1 would suffice... live longer n healthier
I would say salt is super personal. Where my dad liked super salty (this is his recipe lol) I like less salty so when making it just for me I would probably do like you can cut back lol.
