Jordan the way that you film her is amazing. Shopping with you guys through bath and body works really shows what I mean. As our girl explained the products, it seemed like a voice over. The way you two vibe together and the way you film is amazing. Idk if you are into cameras but the eye to detail is amazing.

@@mikayla7860 Patriarchy isn't inherently bad. God "The Father" is our patriarch because He leads and guides us. Abraham, Moses, etch are patriarchs in our religion. The Bible says that in a marriage a man should lead, so that'd be patriarchal. Those are all examples of good/healthy patriarchs/patriarchy. However, I think she used the wrong word, but I get it. She's saying that when you let men pay for stuff, they feel important in our lives and like they're helping us. Someone helping us doesn't make them our caretakers. In another video she mentioned that he tries to help her clean up her house and she doesn't let him, but letting him help would probably make him feel helpful and like he's blessing her. Just like she buys her family gifts and she always talks about how happy she is to bless them.

Abraham and Moses were patriarchs in a very different historical and cultural context as is the idea that a man should be the "lead" in a marriage. These were times when women were illiterate, had no way of making their own money, and had very limited public spaces available to them that they were able to exist outside of them being "owned" by either their father or husband. You need to think critically about when and why these components of the Word were written. It doesn't make you a "bad" Christian to question these oppressive ideas that some religious leaders still try and preach to us. Just like it doesn't make you a "bad" Christian to believe that God transcends gender and isn't just like an old white man in the sky. He is called Father because at the time, that was the word best used to describe that relationship to us. Not to mention other times in the Bible when he is referred to as a mother figure, actually... I resent the idea that anyone "has to" let their man do anything, least of all in order to boost their ego. He can work on his own self esteem and confidence, it's not up to me to do that for him.
