The BBC just did a program on this old Akan instrument call *sɛprɛwa* i But the white man brought guitar 🎸 and we abandoned ours. The Gambians and Malians have kept their kola instrument though
the music changed. you had palmwine, highlife, etc. it should be noted that while they started playing the guitar, the style of play was very much influenced by the seperewa.
