I'll try to explain the lyrics to you: Criolo always sings rap or samba, but in this song he brings the trap, a style that is on the rise all over the world and in Brazil. he talks about the dark universe of the trap and the decaying world in which young people go crazy in chaos due to hype or despair due to the existential emptiness. The fire at the beginning of the clip is a reference to the recent fires in the Pantanal and the Amazon. There is also the scene at the national congress amid garbage, so this song is not only a criticism of the trap, it has criticisms of the government and our politicians.

    • @ricardogoncalves1969
      @ricardogoncalves1969 3 года назад +70

That's what I undestood. The lyrics are talking about the Trap brazilian music scene; calling out the chaotic relations between the young black favela boy and the power, the drugs and the fame, specially the fast pace with people rise and fall within this context and what they are willing to do to have their turn in this cicle.
Te scenes are references to the brazilian crisis (or should I say the wicked government project?) that we live in: the Amazon rainforest and Pantanal biome burning, the willful impoverishment of public health, etc.
"Michael Douglas" is slang for MDMA, a.k.a. Ecstasy; "Lolozim", a.k.a. "Loló" or "Lança-perfume", is a mixture of chemical solvents that are inhaled. Both of this drugs are very popular with young people, being heavly consumed at the "Bailes" (Rave partys, brazilian funk partys, etc).
      This comment summs it up:
"Notice that the lyrics and the clip have two themes talking to each other, and although they convey different messages, in the end they are converging to a single point: the crisis of capitalism
So you have the lyrics of the song making very succinct criticisms of the bread and circus policy and consumerism (fomented by the system), while the clip shows what is happening to the planet while we waste time with our sick lifestyle."
I would change the last phrase to "...the clip shows what is happening to the planet because of our sick lifestyle"

I love some reaction to our brazilian music, especially from those who seriouslly try to understand like you. Its amazing to feel the reach of good music outside our country. Michael Douglas is a slang for MDMA. In this line specifically he's referring to another artist's song which is called 'Michael Douglas' and is basically about partying and depriving oneself of sleep bc of drug usage.
    ruclips.net/video/mn_zRYL6QME/видео.html
But yeah, Criolo is one fine example of a master wordsmith here in Brazil, to the point that some lines can be cryptic even for us brazilians.

Michael Douglas played a filthy rich, ruthless character in a movie with Tom Cruise. He mentors the young Cruise on the tricks of Wall Street, how to use capitalism to exploit people, so he can drive his million dollar lamborghini (also, lambo means back, a reference to the poor breaking their backs or slaves being whipped... you know, Criolo trips). The Americanization of Brazilian culture, the blind love of American-style capitalism (social darwinism gospel), people dreaming to live the Wall Street/Trump/Kardashian lifestyle while the MASS/es are getting amassada (squashed) in the rat race. Deep shit, Criolo! One of my favorite!

Grimes style = Grimes is Amazon's Jeff Bezos wife. Shop till you drop (dead). This reminds me of an old song by Tom Zé, (late 60s Tropicalism movement), in which Tom Zé mixes Brazilian and international pop references, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin (whom he calls Janis Shoppin'), and repeats "shop, shop, shop, shop, shop" in a way reminiscent of masters talking to their pets. Like Wall Street/Bezos/American media being a constant Big Brother Master voice telling us, like we are their pets, to shop, shop, shop, shop, shop....

Hello @GoonyGoogles! How are you? I'm from Brazil, west of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Many of the placements that Criolo makes in the song Sistema Obtuso, obviously focused on the difficulties of the Brazilian people. The same from São Paulo (Brazil). Even more when he makes an analogy with famous Brand products. It's like you mentioned in your analysis, only being from New York to understand some of the singer Wu Tang's remarks. Criolo's lyrics are loaded with criticism. He has a lot of difficulty in his history and family to gain space in society. Once again very cool to see Criolo (whom I'm a fan), reaching the international scene. Hug from Brazil!!

    Great video.
Here is a short explanation of the music and the video clip.
So far in Brazil, this clip is difficult to understand, to be honest it also took me a long time to understand, after having seen a lot of analysis is that I understood the video, being that it talks about several social issues of Brazilian reality, which is typical of Criolo.
According to the dictionary (Portuguese - Brazil) the word obtuse means rounded at the end, which has a rounded shape; failure or lack of intelligence; rude, blunt, stupid.
In music in a single word you can already understand everything that Criolo wants to go through.
The fire at the beginning of the clip is probably a reference to the recent fires in the Pantanal and the Amazon, apart from that we have scenes from the national congress amid garbage, so this song is not just a criticism of the trap, it has criticisms of the government and our politicians who most of them are crap, you can count on your fingers the qualified and worthy of the elected positions.
The world is burning and the general is going crazy but there are some who are worried about Hype and don't even realize that they are inside the fire burning too. And in this case it can be a metaphor both for the trapers who are not seeing the hole they are digging, and for the government that often just want to fuck the people, one day they will end up in the same fire, as the issue of the covid 19 that killed rich or poor, had no distinction of color, creed or social class.
*This text was written using the Google translator. For this reason, I apologize for mistakes in writing and misunderstandings.*

Criolo is a poet of enormous expression. He takes the slang from the streets and puts it in his verses. Just like Sabotage. He's not a slang. It's dialect. Many who listen also cannot capture everything he is talking about, he goes so deep in the ideas he passes in his music. On the national scene, Criolo is a phoenix. When he talks about Michael Douglas, for example, he refers to MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine or extasy) because that's what the drug is called here. As you well said: here is not a reaction channel to songs, but some Brazilians are addicted to sending sounds to channels where reactions are made to our songs. Good songs, by the way. Keep going! Peace!

Criolo embodies a cultural collective conscience in Sao Paulo, in a way that i've never seen any other artist do, so his therms and slangs are sometimes difficult even for us brazilians to understand. that line where he says aeon flux Mcflurry Fatal Fury Andy Murray to me it expresses a deep confusion sensation that represents living in a chaotic place where you get in touch with tons of info everyday, and sometimes those infos come in random bits, like this sentence. also Michael Douglas is a slang to refer to MDMA

The english words were a way to take on rich people on São Paulo who use english words as slangs.

I'm 30 yo, understand english since 17 yo, started to listening to american rap when I was 14 yo, but you really only understand the lyrics when you understand the culture, the reason why the slang is what it is, not just the translation. Wu Tang is tough. Criolo is a poet, but he loves slangs, he said that in his songs a lot, that he loves street language, so he tries to rly put that shit there, he also references philosophy a lot, the man is all over the place.

Brazil's situation regarding the Amazon is critical. I live in Rondônia, an Amazonian state, in the dry months (July, August, September) it is common to have to close the whole house because a lot of ash from fires falls, it is common to see wild animals (some endangered) run over and/or burned on the banks on the highways, most of the time fleeing arson. #SOS_Amazonia

Criolo sings about the situation in Brazil, where everything is in chaos, with various political and social problems happening, and the youth is doing drugs, going to concerts, worried to have fun, or buy expensive things to show off. Just to clarify, Michael Douglas is slang to a drug named MDMA.
