I have both the senior and 1919 and honestly putting a clear cover over the senior would make more sense because it already has a plastic cover and I would keep the 1919 original because it's got that classic metal look!

if it was corded it would be probably last a lifetime. Having a battery in it makes it obsolete
Does the 1919 have a lever that can be swapped over to the Seniors? That metal lever looks good.

the front cover is metal . the back cover looks metal but it's made out of plastic (metallic look), is that correct?
No you are wrong. The top cover is metal and the bottom case is also metal
