This guy deserved the trophy more than anyone else. He:
    - sang in his own language
    - blew everyone away in the arena
    - got the most points from the people by a significant margin
    - conveyed an awesome message; don’t be afraid of the world, embrace your individuality.

I came here to understand why so many people voted for a song and a stage performance that i found gross.
Reading comments like this makes me guess:
People celebrate this guy for embracing this freaky (and for my taste awkward) style and having the balls bringing it to the public.
If you think he deserved the win you do you but 1 question I still have: how is the arena crowd singing the song an argument for the own vote? It's like : because others find it cool I find it cool too?

The organisers of ESC want Eurovision to be a very different contest than what the people want, that’s why they give half the voting power to their own “expert juries” who will “vote right”. I really wish the jury system would be abolished. Let the people choose the winner!

@DeltaSilver88 Honestly, I think that if Loreen's 2023 victory is remembered, it'll be more as an injustice. Without that massive jury lead, she never would have won.
Her song is alright, I like it, but it's just not "Eurovision" enough for a lot of people, including me. As a Finn, I could have some bias here, but also... the crowd went wild with Cha Cha Cha, and the massive audience vote shot us right to second place - for a bit we were in first place before Sweden's audience points were added - so we know who the people preferred. Plus, the jury almost completely ignored Norway, Alessandra deserved more points than she got. The audiences at least appreciated her performance, though.

      [Verse 1]
A rough week and many long days are behind
There's only bar and piña colada on my mind
There is some time for a few, the night is still youngish
Time to demolish this icy shell
      [Chorus]
Holding the drinks with both hands like
Cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, no
I'm not thinking about tomorrow when I grab a pint like
Cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, no
Wanna mess my head up and be free from worries like
Cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, no
And I'll continue until I can't stay in the chair like
      [Verse 2]
A couple of piña coladas have already been consumed
Yet the expression on my face is serious
      Yeah, yeah, ye, ye, yeah
There is some time for a few, the night is still youngish
Time to demolish this icy shell
The dance floor is calling me 'cause I'm no longer stuck
      Like a cha-cha-cha, I'm coming

And I'll continue until I can't stay in the chair like
      [Post-Chorus]
      Now I'm going to dance
      Like a cha-cha-cha
And I'm not scared of this world no more
      Like a cha-cha-cha
When I pour champagne over myself
      [Bridge]
Cha-cha-cha, one eye keeps turning, crossed too far
And talking gets so hard when this other side of me takes control
Cha-cha-cha, usually I'm not this guy at all
I'm not, but tonight I am that guy, tonight I am that guy
      [Post-Chorus]
      Now I'm going to dance
      Like a cha-cha-cha
And I'm not scared of this world no more
