I came here to understand why so many people voted for a song and a stage performance that i found gross. Reading comments like this makes me guess: People celebrate this guy for embracing this freaky (and for my taste awkward) style and having the balls bringing it to the public. If you think he deserved the win you do you but 1 question I still have: how is the arena crowd singing the song an argument for the own vote? It's like : because others find it cool I find it cool too?

Well, most magical thing for me over all the weird and great ones was when we sent a band of 4 mentally disabled men who spend their lives in care homes. That is a bold move without maybe looking for the victory, but they gave a voice and chance to mentally disabled, who else does it? Band was called Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät.

He may not have won trophy, but he won in every other way. Even our one actual winning song Hard Rock Hallelujah, which still has become a legend, ever did what Käärijä has done. He created a movement in Finland, he went out there without a six pack in a Neon green bolero singing about breaking out of your shell in a language literally globally famous for being incomprehensible, and became a legend.
I didn't think I'd see this day when people started chanting the name of a Finnish performer in the middle of the Eurovision finals points count so that the presenters have to restrain the audience. Totally unbelievable. Käärijä, you are a real winner!

I Never seen anything like the crowd chanting Cha Cha Cha so loud enough to overwhelm the presenters so that they couldn’t continue talking. Cha Cha Cha was all over the arena. That says enough about who’s the ACTUAL winner.

It's actually more about getting out of your comfort zone. You can see the story in the performance and the song itself. First he's stressed out and frustrated but at the end he finally dares to start dancing and his anxiety is set free. That's when the whole song changes to a happier mood. "Now I start dancing, like cha cha cha, and I'm not afraid of this world anymore."

The televotes should have been the focus last night. That’s what they should have called up all of Europe for. i mean the world went crazy over the Nightcore version of Rockefeller street, thats Estonia in 2011 eurovision song, Epic sax guy - Eurovision. and probably some other songs you have heard come from eurovision.
Same in slovenia, a few days after esc our uni had our yearly picnic party and cha cha cha came on 3 times, when no other song was replayed throughout the night even once.

I couldn't agree more. I'm Swedish/Finnish and sure I'm proud of Loreen, but the way my heart sank when Käärijä didn't win... I just couldn't feel happy about the victory, when we all know Finland was the true winner.
Totally agree. I have nothing against Loreen personally - she‘s a good singer and performer. But this was extremely fishy. If it hadn’t been for the jury votes, Käärijä would have clearly won.
They used to do it that way and it was carnage. All the Eastern European countries voted for each other and no one else got a look in. It’s fairer this way.

It was the wire connecting that box wall that fell down to the box itself. He actually talked about it in an interview here in Finland. He just barely missed it and apparently during rehearsals that wire was there on multiple occasions lol
At first I thought Käärijä was just one of those 'crazy' performance (that I absolutely love in Eurovision). He's so much more. The song is not silly or pointless, he united a lot of people rooting for him, he had so much fun the entire week and shared all that with others, he took the whole experience on another level for him and for us.

The organisers of ESC want Eurovision to be a very different contest than what the people want, that’s why they give half the voting power to their own “expert juries” who will “vote right”. I really wish the jury system would be abolished. Let the people choose the winner!

Most people don't even remember most of the ESC winners, while unique acts like Dschinghis Khan turn into memes that are still remembered 40 years later. @DeltaSilver88 Honestly, I think that if Loreen's 2023 victory is remembered, it'll be more as an injustice. Without that massive jury lead, she never would have won. Her song is alright, I like it, but it's just not "Eurovision" enough for a lot of people, including me. As a Finn, I could have some bias here, but also... the crowd went wild with Cha Cha Cha, and the massive audience vote shot us right to second place - for a bit we were in first place before Sweden's audience points were added - so we know who the people preferred. Plus, the jury almost completely ignored Norway, Alessandra deserved more points than she got. The audiences at least appreciated her performance, though.

I was in Liverpool for Eurovision week, and everybody was talking about Cha cha cha. The fact that judges can lift one entry so high that no other entry stands a chance is unfair, we the public PAY to vote 😑
@Vicki I respect all the artists, and I don't want to make any accusations, however, it's really really, really suspicious when the jury points margin between Loreen and the 2nd place were so big , which from 2nd place to 26th place the difference were not that big at all between, ( because if you look at the televote, organically, even the difference between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, differences were no where near the points jury has put Loreen ahead) to me, it look so obvious that they voted that way intentionally, anyway, this needs to be investigated

- sang in his own language

Well, most magical thing for me over all the weird and great ones was when we sent a band of 4 mentally disabled men who spend their lives in care homes. That is a bold move without maybe looking for the victory, but they gave a voice and chance to mentally disabled, who else does it?

First he's stressed out and frustrated but at the end he finally dares to start dancing and his anxiety is set free. That's when the whole song changes to a happier mood. Lena (against Manga) won both the Jury and the Televoting. Jury downvoted Manga to place 8 because they are a clueless and corrupt bunch of cheaters.
The people put it right with Manga place 2nd, but still - Lena came 1st.
This is what eurovision is about. Not a bunch of moody ballads. It's fun, it's wild, it's entirely unexpected and gets better every listen

I'm Swedish and I think it's absoultely absurd that there are any other factors than the vote of the people to decide the competition.
I couldn't agree more. I'm Swedish/Finnish and sure I'm proud of Loreen, but the way my heart sank when Käärijä didn't win... I just couldn't feel happy about the victory, when we all know Finland was the true winner.

Totally agree. I have nothing against Loreen personally - she‘s a good singer and performer. But this was extremely fishy. If it hadn’t been for the jury votes, Käärijä would have clearly won.
They used to do it that way and it was carnage. All the Eastern European countries voted for each other and no one else got a look in. It’s fairer this way.

It was the wire connecting that box wall that fell down to the box itself. He actually talked about it in an interview here in Finland. He just barely missed it and apparently during rehearsals that wire was there on multiple occasions lol

At first I thought Käärijä was just one of those 'crazy' performance (that I absolutely love in Eurovision). He's so much more. The song is not silly or pointless, he united a lot of people rooting for him, he had so much fun the entire week and shared all that with others, he took the whole experience on another level for him and for us.
The song is pointless if you read the lyrics. He only sings about drinking and getting drunk.
The song is an allegory on the pain we experience when making new scientific discoveries and as such a touching testament to the beauty of life ❤

@DeltaSilver88 Honestly, I think that if Loreen's 2023 victory is remembered, it'll be more as an injustice. Without that massive jury lead, she never would have won.
Her song is alright, I like it, but it's just not "Eurovision" enough for a lot of people, including me. As a Finn, I could have some bias here, but also... the crowd went wild with Cha Cha Cha, and the massive audience vote shot us right to second place - for a bit we were in first place before Sweden's audience points were added - so we know who the people preferred. Plus, the jury almost completely ignored Norway, Alessandra deserved more points than she got. The audiences at least appreciated her performance, though.

@Vicki I respect all the artists, and I don't want to make any accusations, however, it's really really, really suspicious when the jury points margin between Loreen and the 2nd place were so big , which from 2nd place to 26th place the difference were not that big at all between, ( because if you look at the televote, organically, even the difference between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, differences were no where near the points jury has put Loreen ahead) to me, it look so obvious that they voted that way intentionally, anyway, this needs to be investigated
