That is beautiful! I have a black Alan myself, also 1981. I raced it in the early 80s, but now only use it for touring.
Algunas veces voy a los Gran Fondo con la Pinarello, donde me encuentro que la gran mayoría usa bicis de carbono y comparto el pelotón como uno más, donde la ventaja solo se evidencia en algunas subidas, pero lo compenso con un mayor y mejor entrenamiento, además de cuidar mi peso.
Y si hablamos de aerodinamia (tema de moda), podemos decir que los cuadros de acero lo son, porque tienen muy finos sus caños y no son tan pesados como se imaginan, dado que al tener caños sin costura y de pared fina, no pecan por su peso.
También tengo una Trek Madone que me gusta mucho (bueno, para mi no hay bicis feas, Ja!!), pero me encanta usar las bicis de mi juventud, donde me siento muy cómodo por todos los años que rodé con ellas.
También me encanta, que lo jóvenes aprecien y usen, las bicis de sus padres y abuelos; va un abrazo para ellos.
That is an elegant machine. Watching these videos has convinced me that I have to get myself a handsome road bike like this for pleasure rides alongside my hybrid bike that I currently use for transport and pleasure.

Eh bien, si presque tout est campagnolo, il est vrai qu'il comporte également de nombreuses pièces Zeus, leviers de frein, moyeux de roue et bielles.

@@dabrestauracion7404 ... I'm one of your admiring subscribers, just a hobbyist without much experience. I had a 1972 Raleigh Competition and a 1975 Raleigh Professional, when I was in my twenties. Five years ago I bought a Colnago Super bare frame, and built it with all Italian components, except for the Zeus brake levers and seat post. Now, I have an Alan Sprint bare frame project, and am wondering about what bottom bracket to use. I'm not up to date with all the innovations. Mostly I only understand mid70s to mid80s bicycles. Puzzling over what bottom bracket to get for my Alan, I thought why not just ask Mr Dab Restoration? What do you suggest?

When it comes to changing the bottom bracket you have no problem with any modern one, the only thing you have to know is the thread size that your frame has to wear. @@dabrestauracion7404 Ok les voy a sacar fotos, apenas tenga algo de tiempo, porque con esto de la cuarentena, mi esposa me hizo una larga lista de "trabajitos" en la casa, los que debo cumplimentar rigurosamente, en tiempo y en forma. Cuando los termine me pongo una empresa de mantenimiento general de casas de familia: pintura, plomería, albañilería, lavo y desinfecto tanque de agua potable, jardinería, lavo auto y hasta lustro muebles, ja!!
Y yo pensaba que podría aprovechar para ver las carreras por You Tube, pero NO, ella siempre me encuentra algo para hacer, "así no te aburres Fernando", me lo dice con una sonrisa, y no es que Yo sea un dominado, solo soy obediente. JA!!!
Demás está decirte que estoy rodando en el rodillo tradicional, que ya lo tenía lleno de telas de araña, porque me resultaba muy aburrido su uso, en cambio ahora no me queda otro recurso que usarlo, a costa de mis vecinos que deben soportar su ruido en el patio, aunque al usarlo sobre piso con gramilla y al aire libre, no molesta mucho (al menos eso pienso yo).

Love the bike. but also love the Zeus brake levers and gear shift levers. I have a 1987 BH "Campagnolo" owned from new, but recently fitted NOS Zues C record skewers to the Triomphe hubs and NOS Zeus Criterium Pedals ( Super record equivalent) to the Triomphe cranks, sadly , as we know Zeus long since stopped production, but i think it enhances my enjoyment to include some genuine Spanish components on a genuine Spanish bike , among st the Campagnolo parts, if i sell it, NEVER, i can always put the Campagnolo parts back. Am English but love my Spanish BH, its so unusual from that era.

Muchas gracias hermano, creí haber encontrado, es una tienda de bicicletas que se llama ciclometa, son importadores les pregunté y dicen que si dan ese servicio, los dueños son españoles y ahí siempre vi que vendían cuadros hermosos que no estaban a mi alcance económico como pinarello, colnago, alan, y el solo verlos de joven me emocionaba mucho, ahi compraba mis revistas de ciclismo a fondo; espero hagan un buen trabajo. Buried deep within my shed is my Vitus 979 Duralinox in black, with a Shimano 600 gruppo and Mavic GP4’s on Mavic 501 hubs. I must dig it out and see if it’s ok still. If only I had time to restore it too!

Comfortable on rough roads, flexes on steep uphills, scary on downhills due to its flex & knowing that glue holds this frame together.
Hi Jerry! I made the Spanish Hispania with them, the truth that I felt very good driving it, if it is true that almost all those that I have seen have cracked by the bottom bracket or the seat post. Thanks for your comment ; )
I have never ridden an Alan so I cannot comment on it being scary on downhills, but I had an Exxon Graftek which used similar construction, but with carbon wrapped tubes and stainless steel lugs. Comfortable and yes, not very stiff. Unfortunately someone else decided they wanted it and broke into my car to get it. It had Campy Record, Phil Wood hubs, and I had hand stitched leather wrap on the Cinelli bars. Damn, I miss that bike.

That frame is smart. Chromoly in the flex points where it is needed.
Alan frames are very good and light. But I have to say that they crack very easily. They are also beautiful and if you are lucky that they do not crack, you can ride an 80 'bike of only 9 Kg. Thank you for commenting friend, greetings; )
dab restauración I have a Alan frame since 1986, with Campagnolo Triomphe. I made some seasons (races) with ti, even, in the last years, in cyclocross (yes, with a road frame), and track too. Today I have a Carbon Bike, but the Alan is still my best bicycle. I dont have any problem with it in this 34 years that “my friend” makes me company. Just perfect! Regards

Are they Aluminum too? Or are they made of Steel? (CrMo?)
Hello Friend!!! They are made of aluminum. What I use for polishing is a speed regulating grinder, a pink polishing pad and a wool polishing disc. I hope I've helped. Greetings friend and thanks for commenting ; )

@@dabrestauracion7404 in order to respect the retro style, definitely I would put them brown same as the saddle. I'm restoring a vintage bike right now, steel frame, aluminum Shimano Japanese components, Atom freewheel (French), and Normandy Hubs (French too), I decide to use entire black tires, so, I will put a black with white stripes saddle, and black handlebar wraps.
you have the same reason in brown would also have been fantastic, but I chose this tape Benotto handcuffs that is 80, even that what would have to change is the saddle and put it black.
