uhhhh. what happens after 12 months? Would I need to pay more to register more songs after that? Also, I *think* CDBaby stopped publishing. Not sure what happened there
When we talk about "splits" here, we are specifically talking about songwriting splits right? Not like splits for a release with a label where they take say 50 percent of mechanical royalties and you take 50 per cent.... we are talking 2 different types of royalties / splits...?
Just songwriting. I have a split sheet template that divides splits into two categories (distribution and composition). Always good to separate the two.
Songtrust has failed to register a number of my songs correctly. I provide IPI and PRO details of all my cowriters and songtrust has registered those writers as NS (Non society). Even other cowriters with songtrust accounts are being misrepresented by not being listed as a member of a PRO. And after MONTHS of trying to rectify this, their response is that they are only concerned with writers associated with them and that these other cowriters MUST register the song properly with their own PROs. This completely defeats the purpose of me signing up with songtrust. And their lackluster customer service makes me want to leave.
@@musicbyazuma This suxx. If I co-write with a member of PRS who is not signed up with Songtrust, Songtrust will register this song with ASCAP and BMI with my co-writer being listed as NS. With societies complaining that metadata is lacking most of the time, Songtrust does NOTHING to make the situation better even after being provided with all the proper metadata. I need an alternative!
I'd recommend contacting them directly to see if they can edit the submissions. Songtrust really only cares about the writers that sign up for the platform, leading to a lot of issues for outside writers @@MeccaMusic

Ima a producer. I’m already signed up with a PRO & through beat stars publishing. I wanna start recording as an artist but I’m using a different stage name. Am I able to register with BMI/ASCAP & Songtrust under a different name with the same legal information?
I've been with them for a few years but their support system hasn't been super helpful as of lately. There is also Tunecore Publishing which offers admin publishing even if you're with another distributor.
@@musicbyazuma Question what's better TuneCore Publishing or SongTrust. Also could you have both SongTrust and TuneCore Publishing or could you only have one.
Splits are required for every song registration right in the beginning. Songtrust is having some issues with registration - still waiting for some songs that are "in cue" since 2022...
@musicbyazuma So with that being said do you have to have it? I'm just getting started and I was told I need it. I have BMI Distrokid and Soundexchange

Subject: Request for Clarification and Rights Rectification Regarding DR and PH Management by ST Music International Inc. Dear Songtrust Team, I am registered with Songtrust as a songwriter for the administration of my copyrights. Upon reviewing the reports related to my works, I have noticed that ST Music International Inc. holds 100% of the reproduction rights (DR) and public performance rights (PH) for some of my compositions. This situation is concerning because: I have never signed any agreement or explicitly consented to transfer these rights to ST Music International Inc. I could not find any reference in your terms and conditions indicating that Songtrust may delegate these rights to third parties without my consent. I kindly request detailed clarification regarding this attribution, specifically: Is this management by ST Music International Inc. part of your standard process? On what basis were these rights assigned to ST Music? What agreements or clauses justify this distribution? Additionally, I am formally requesting the immediate rectification of my rights to restore a distribution that aligns with my intentions. My reproduction (DR) and public performance (PH) rights should revert to me or be managed exclusively by Songtrust, in accordance with our initial agreement. I would appreciate it if you could prioritize this request and inform me of the actions taken to resolve this situation. I am available to provide any necessary documentation or additional information to facilitate the process. Thank you in advance for addressing this matter promptly. I look forward to your response. Best regards,
Been with song tryst 3 years now and my songs status processing smh 3 years yeah they took my hundred
So you need PRO, Songtrust and Sound Exchange?
At minimum you need a PRO and SoundExchange. An admin publisher and the MLC are optional

Contract will get renewed unless you opt-out.
Nice Pub checks, have you had your work placed or somethin?
Nothing too crazy yet! Just a lot of songs with artists over the years
Will I need to register my songs on both my PRO and Songtrust or one instead of the other? I have both ASCAP and Songtrust.
Ideally on your PRO first then Songtrust

So if I register a song through songtrust they will register the song in my PRO for me?
Exactly. I personally register with my PRO first then register with Songtrust due to the slow registration time.
