Bravissimo Mr. Cho! I've just spent 1h watching many videos of this prelude and, for me, your performance is among the best. Perfect tune and clear beautiful projection.
Rémy Miller I love Ophelie Gaillard too, but I find it more like Romantic Bach on baroque cello. Wispelwey is more informed and gives an Historical interpretation which I find really incredible.
@@Violedegambe It's not more informed... historical interpretation is all speculation which has zero basis in Bach. We have absolutely no idea what Bach wanted, only the general trend of some Baroque composers (which are still speculations)
@@Violedegambe you don't have to agree, it's a fact. Reading the treatise doesn't teach you shit about what Bach wanted, let alone the music of other composers. They give you very general guidelines that is actually very common sense. Many sources contradict each other but you'd know if you have done your research. Even Scott Ross admitted it's delusional to believe they're closer to the Baroque ideals just by reading some texts. Let alone Bach who wasn't so influenced by specific sonority of his time.
This young man shows that this piece can be played wonderfully expressively while being perfectly faithful to the score. His technical ability is also close to perfection.
Amazingly played Brannon! Very clean playing and beautiful piece. People should give themselves the time to discover this masterpieces of Bach other than Prelude from Suite I, or Tocatta And Fugue in D minor. Greetings from México.
Incredible playing, I’m fascinated by that Russian style bowing technique of yours, would you be kind enough to tell me, do you place your thumb on the « U » of the frog or in the usual spot? Such looseness combined with such precision is outstanding and inspiring, thank you 🙏
Yet more proof Bach is god. Interpretation and performance a credit to humanity- really brings those dead notes off the page back (bach?) to life. Bach would be proud; no wig throwing at this guy. Bravissimo
I’ve recently subscribed to your channel, Mr. Cho, and it’s been a source of joy and hope. I’m getting over an injury of 7 years (I refused surgery), and videos like these are my go-to. Wanted to say this is such a sweet interpretation of the 6th. I’ve seen the Ma and Rostropovich videos, and they can get down and dirty. Yours is more like a nightingale. You are your own musician, and it’s definitely a unique but beautiful sound.
This is one of the greatest cello performances ever recorded.
Agreed
NO ONE plays it like this. Absolute perfection, Perfect flow. The very idea and feel I strive for when practicing this piece. Well done. Bravissimo~
ebowebo I wholeheartedly agree with you.
Your cello has a really lovely sound!
Honestly the best performance of the 6th prelude I can find anywhere
True
Agree. The chords at the end were so tasteful. Very clean all the way through.
Indeed.
AND IT'S ONLY 4 STRINGS!!! WTF!!!
The Interpretation of Truls Mörk is pretty similar actually. Maybe even a bit cleaner.
Bro this is literally perfect omg
Bow speed and control is amazing
Literally every sound on this cello sounds absolutely incredible, very well played.
Dude! What a beautiful voice and sound you have on that cello. Keep up the awesome work, I hope to see you in a performance one day.
The sound, ive never heard such buttery warmth with a perfect graininess, its addicting
Never heard someone being so close to sound like playing on a 5 string piccolo cello - wow really admirable!

Try Wispelwey, it's just incredible.
His playing is undoubtedly beautiful, but Ophélie Gaillard's version will always hold a special place in my heart.

Bravo Brannon! I like your tempo and phrasing.

Saw the article about you in Star Ledger today - Go, Brannon. So proud of you. Mrs. Arnold (yes, from MHS)
Unbelievable. Just brilliant, he's really outdone himself with this one.
Found you again 😂
@@TheShikerWolf haha yep I used to comment quite a bit.
One of the more beautiful things I've heard in my life
I’m scared of sock monsters
It flows easily and it is so full of life.. bravo!
Yes- it is so beautiful. I play this but nowhere near his glorious playing. Maybe one day…. Dream.
Magnifique !
Your playing is perfection!
I love the way his cello looks it’s so beautiful
It’s gorgeous but mine is prettier XD she’s my soulmate
just wonderful honestly. such a golden tone and amazing color.
One of the best young cellists out there today. Asian precision with emotion:)
som Slovaak he’s not Chinese. And you’re being unbearably racist
@som Slovaak You can listen and find out the real reason he won awards.
I’m getting the feeling that this guy might be trolling
Amazingly played Brannon! Very clean playing and beautiful piece. People should give themselves the time to discover this masterpieces of Bach other than Prelude from Suite I, or Tocatta And Fugue in D minor. Greetings from México.
Brannon is the best cellist of his generation without a doubt. This is absolute perfection.
keep coming back for this...
Bravo. Grande esecuzione.
Amazing sound, interpretation, everything perfect here !
amazing!!!
May you win on the world stage Brannon.. way to go..
So beautiful!
Great intonation and musical direction. And a very creative fingering for those with smaller hands at the E unison section

Amazing!
one of the most difficult aspects of this piece is nailing the phrasing, and very few people nail it. but he does, and how.
Perfect…a pleasure to listen to this
I became a big fan of yours immediately after listening this video. Wow~!
This is really inspiring, I am currently working on this piece and it's absolutely the hardest movement of all 6 of Bach's suites
Amazing. 😍😍
Magnificent. Well done.

Those 8 dislikes are just jealous of his perfect playing

Great performance! I really enjoy your tone and your treatment of Bach.
I can't believe how incredible this performance is o_o
Eric Tergerson Listen to Truls Mork, hes unbelievable good and has the best cello!
Eric Tergerson But this is very good 2!
Wow. Wonderful 😃👍🏼❗️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Excellent, the singing of the cello ! Love it
❤️ love 💕
Bravo!!! I see that you use jargar strings. I am right?
Samir Barrientos Morales yes on the A and D strings!
It always amazes me that someone can play music meant for an instrument with five strings on one with only four
More Bach please! This was great🥰
Your bowings are perfect
sounds glory, congrats!!
Very nice!
Amazing
The funny thing is that we do not know exactly what this song sounded like, but I would presume if we did, it would sound just like this. Bravo.
it is really nice!
BEATUTIFUL recording/FLAWLESS mic !
Wow!!!

This is how would Bach play this. And this is only 4 strings!!!
No flaws. Please share who made your cello and bow. I know the player is most important but boy that cello sounds amazing.
