This game is so damn well animated. There are so many animations for every single character and enemy
Oh, you don't know the half of it.
One of the more subtle animations you could see is in stage 2. If you stand around, the characters will start shivering and chattering their teeth. Likewise in stage 3's boss, if you stand around then the guys will wipe sweat off their forehead and the girls will puff their shirt to cool off.
Metal Slug 3 is the most hardcore chapter of the series, hands down!
P.S. to be fair, the more skilled you are at the game, the less money you have to spend to complete it.

It feels so weird seeing Max so clueless and getting surprised about this game even though he did played this with Simmons back in YoVideoGames. Then again, that was 7 years ago and he has played a lot of games since then so I could understand how he must have forgotten about it. Now that I think about it, some of his commentary and reactions to certain things in the game even sounds alike. Which reminds me, his brain did locked the memories of him playing Dirge of Cerberus. He even unlocked it by finishing the game again. 😆😆

It's kinda funny that he said "Metal Slug is for the privileged few."
The laundromat close to my house growing up has this on free play and the fighting games cost 25/50 cents.
The owners rationale (I think) was that if the kids would be occupied the entire time, the parents would have more incentive to come by more often.
Metal Slug 3 is SO great, I think they went ALL out on this one thinking this will be the last game in the franchise. 8D

You know what. This would be a great idea for a charity event. Each death is a quarter, and you have to play through the entire series. I wonder how much money that would generate.

I wish Max would play Baseball Stars 2 again. I'm not even a baseball fan but watching him play that a couple of months ago was hilarious.

Oh man that was true about rich kids having metal slug xD having to visit my neighbor once a week was painful. Luckily, my uncle got hold of a Metal Slug arcade cabinet and we were able to play it that way

My favorite metal slug out of all metal slugs because back in the day, metal slug 3 gave me nightmares as a kid coz of the horrid monsters they added along with the phenomenal sprite work as per usual for SNK games.. And I just stuck to it because I wanted to conquer my nightmares
Unfact this was the last metal slug game the original team got to make thats why later entries vary so much in quality
I still love them all
I've always been saying this but it's like if you're going to do a true legacy of a series it's always nice to go back and play some of the other games they were known for to sort of try to capture that feeling that you maybe would have gotten playing these games when they came out. You can really start the appreciate all the things that's okay went to and all the stuff they had to go through to where they got today
Right at the last boss he really doesn't know how to "JUMP" over the ring and not touch it everytime.
Fun fact: (spoiler warning for those who haven't played metal slug 3) playing as Eri in Metal slug 3 is canon to the story as Both Marco and Tarma were working on their retirement. In the ending, if Eri gets captured, Tarma will come to her rescue and after that, he throws away his gun into the sea hoping not it use it ever again while Eri sit Shyly probably feeling embarrassed that she was saved by her squad. (Eri is the type that likes to work alone or just a very aggressive type)

3 and X are the best entries in the series for me.
I could play this game literally anytime and love it. I've never not sucked at it, but it's one of those that I can just pop in and enjoy whenever.

only way outside of an arcade to play this back then was a neo geo AES which cost over a 1000 in todays money,and the carts was 300 each.
truly the rich kids game,luckily i own an AES and a OG MVS cab.

here in Mexico every continue is 1 or 2 pesos, right now is about 1/20 or 1/10 of a dollar, 50 continues is way cheaper
Don't forget you can play Fio in KOF Maximum Impact 2 (playstation2) as secret character and Ralf and Clark have Marco and Tarma Skins (you have to unlock them)

Starting from mission 4: The maximum time Max was alive in the game: almost 3 minutes.
P.S. that was only because of mission 5's cutscenes.
Without that the longest is around 2:30.

love this game! thh first try i finish it i only used 12 coins testing the boss patterns etc....after that i managed to finish the game with out dying *,*
